I thought this item would be appropriate, seeing as how the north state is preparing for a deluge right now. Plus, I started having flashbacks to the time when Bjorn and I were in New York City and unprepared for the rainy weather there. Caught off-guard, we had to purchase an umbrella that looked remarkably similar to this one for the outrageous price of $12.
Satisfied that I would be doing my good deed for the day by writing a blog post about umbrellas that could be had for a much more reasonable price, I carelessly tossed it aside in favor of a milk chocolate cream cheese spread.
Lo and behold, within an hour it was pouring. Rain was coming down so hard it was bouncing back up. Bjorn and I were on a walk and nowhere near the 99 Cent Store (of course). We huddled underneath a store’s awning and argued over who would get to wear his hat as we prepared to dash into the wall of water. He graciously conceded his headgear with the comment that now I “looked like a delicate Asian man.”
Lesson learned: ALWAYS buy the dollar umbrella.
