Here are some predictions sure to go wrong. After all, I should probably retire after going 3-0 last week (Grant over Paradise, Colusa at home holding off Durham and Dunsmuir besting Princeton in a limited Week Zero schedule).
Here’s the Week 1 lineup for tonight’s games involving area teams.
Chico at Center-Antelope. Winner: Chico. The toughest call. I’ll take Clayton Welch having a big night, and the defense comes to play. Advantage Chico.
Lassen at Pleasant Valley. Winner: PV. Just like going to Susanville is hard, traveling from there to play is equally tough. Think PV gets the win and starts 1-0
Red Bluff at Oroville. Winner: Red Bluff. Red Bluff starts new offense and defense, but all those track athletes are tough to keep up with.
Paradise at Napa. Winner: Paradise. Bobcats bounce back with a win on a long road trip.
Las Plumas at Corning. Winner: Corning. Cardinals are tough at home.
Fall River at Biggs. Winner: Fall River. Fall River looked sharp in its season opener. Bulldogs pull one out at Biggs.
Durham at Clear Lake. Winner: Durham. Durham has a game played, that will come in handy tonight.
Gridley at Willows. Winner: Willows. Willows is an experience group, capable of beating bigger schools like Gridley.
Orland at Anderson. Winner: Orland. Difference in talent.
Pierce at Hamilton. Winner: Pierce. Hamilton is a little green at several positions, at least at the varsity level. Pierce already has a game under its belts. Bad combination.
Redding Christian at Princeton. Winner: Redding Christian. Hayden Piper, RC’s QB might be the best player in DVI.
Bonus: In the Northern Section matchup (two section teams) of the night, I’ll take West Valley on the road at Shasta. Though, a green QB leaves me some doubt in West Valley against a quality opponent like Shasta, which has the experienced signal-caller in Bailey Odell, an underrated athlete.
Who do you have?
