Jordan F. writes, “Iraqi war protestors desire that we become an isolatinist nation, minding our own business, being self sufficient, and leaving the rest of the world to fend for itself. This is a fine idea, and in theory I’m all for it, but it doesn’t work. History has shown this.
After WWI we tried to stay out of world affairs only to be bombed by Japan. Additionally the same people who want us to stay away from world affairs are those who think that we should stay away from Middle East oil interests. This, again, is a good idea but is contradictory in its own argument. By staying away from Middle Eastern oil we are forced to use our own, but alas that might disturb the habitat of a beetle or fungus so we can’t do that. Perhaps I could take a rickshaw pulled by Environmentalists and Liberals to work. Hey, I like that idea.”
Thanks Jordan!
