As reported in the Wall Street Journal today, “gangs of disaffected youths, mostly from Muslim families, continue to rampage, burning thousands of cars and ransacking entire neighborhoods….the government has been unable to restore order.”
The Muslims rioting are identifying themselves more with their religion than as French citizens, the article says and “effectively, they are promoting a separate society within society and that brand of Islamist philosophy is seeping into many parts of Western Europe.”
When a large group like this turns violent, pushed on by a religion prone to fanaticism, it’s almost impossible to predict how far it will go. The snobbish French liberals who brought these people in by the tens of thousands may well be wondering, “what have we done?”
