Let me clarify for you that it is now one out of every eight women who are diagnosed. I am a 23 year survivor, diagnosed at age 33. I am in charge of The Think Pink Team. We bring breast cancer awareness and education to the Butte/Glenn community. We are a collaboration of those who work in the area of breast cancer, the ACS, Enloe Hospital, Feather River Hospital, and survivors.
We welcome new input as we have just started meeting to plan our upcoming year. We meet the second Tuesday (March 11) every month at 12 Noon at the ACS Office in the Safeway Mangrove shopping center.
If I can personally provide information for you and your family, don’t hesitate to contact me, as I am an RN and facilitated the breast cancer support group Enloe used to have called Beyond Breast Cancer. I still have plenty of materials, and am more than willing to share in my experiences with treatment, reconstruction and living life.
NOTE: Excerpt from the Orion…”Wendy Azevedo formed the Beyond Breast Cancer support group through Enloe Medical Center in 1987. She also started the Chico-based group known as the Think Pink Team, which prides itself on saving lives in Butte County through raising awareness.”
She is one of those many unsung heroes among us that are making a difference in the lives of so many people. It was our good fortune that Wendy found her way to our site and we were able post this valuable information about fighting breast cancer. Jack
