Remembering 9/11 and the Lesson Learned

by Jack Lee

On this day, 6092 people were injured and 3011 people were murdered in cold blood on U.S. soil by mostly citizens from Saudi Arabia, but all the killers were Arab Muslims, and they were united by their radicalized form of the Islamic religion. They believed what they were doing was God’s will and that they would be rewarded in Heaven for being martyrs for their invented new Jihad on America and Western peoples.

The injured and dead on 9/11 were mostly Americans, but they were also citizens from 100 other nations, and that makes this tragedy an offense against humanity and the world, not just America.

Exactly why, by who and how this attack was carried out may never be fully known, but what we do know has reshaped how we think about our national and personal security. We will never feel safe again on our own soil and we will forever view radical Islam with revulsion and hate. It is a despicable form of the Islamic religion, unworthy of existing and some day it will be gone, but not this day and not for many years to come. This is why we must remain vigilant and pursue those who would destroy us with every tool in our arsenal.

The lesson from 9/11 is clear, we are in a war and we must fight it to win, even if it involves collateral damage. When it is over, it is over and our enemies our dead. Then and only then should we concern ourselves with repairing damaged lives.
