Knowledge is a marvelous tool (or weapon) in the battle of ideas and opinions that we engage in every day on Post Scripts. That’s why I wanted to share with you a great site that will teach you everything you might want to know about the Republican Party and its legacy in the great nation’s history. One reason we should know our history is because there are a lot of “facts” out there that just ain’t so! I hope you enjoy this site and come back to it again and again.

“Back to Basics for the Republican Party”

Mr. Zak is a popular speaker to Republican organizations around the country, showing office-holders, candidates, and activists how they would benefit tremendously from knowing and appreciating the heritage of our Grand Old Party. ** As he says, “The more we Republicans know about the history of our Party, the more the Democrats will worry about the future of theirs.”

On This pageyou’ll find out how the Republican Party outlawed the Ku Klux Klan:

On this day (April 20th) in 1871, the Republican-controlled 42nd Congress passed and the Republican President, Ulysses Grant, signed into law the Ku Klux Klan Act. The law banned the KKK and other Democrat terrorist organizations. President Grant then deployed federal troops to crush a Klan uprising in South Carolina. ** Eleven years later, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned most provisions of the Act. Though legalized, this original version of the Ku Klux Klan faded. Why? Because as Democrats regained control over southern state governments, they could oppress African-Americans openly, without need of white sheets.
