Must Buy Health Insurance?

BREAKING: HEALTHCARE INSURANCE REQUIRMENT STRUCK DOWN BY FEDERAL JUDGE

Bloomberg reports:

U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson in Richmond, Virginia, said today that the requirement in President Barack Obama’s health-care legislation goes beyond Congress’s powers to regulate interstate commerce. While severing the coverage mandate, Hudson didn’t address other provisions such as expanding Medicaid that are unrelated to it. He didn’t order the government to stop work on putting the remainder of the law into effect.

Round one goes to the people…let’s hope this ruling sticks and is the first of many blows on the road to ending this complex, unsustainable, health care killing piece of legisaltion!

Gee, what a shocker, we’ve only been saying that here at PS from day one.

  2. Libby says:

It’s so very interesting. We agree. But for so very different reasons.

I was quite looking forward to becoming an outlaw. The day will never come when I pay any privately held … or even publically held … health insurer any monthly fee so’s they can turn around an say my condition ain’t covered.

    No. Not ever.

If I am to be compelled to pay … it will be for universal coverage … no less.

And so where do the rest of you stand on this?

  3. Tina says:

Universal coverage has been tried in several countries across the globe…it failed miserably, both financially and in terms of service!

    NO THANKS!

I think Pelosi and Reid should go home (please) and put their true talents to work in the private sector. Nancy could continue in her roll as Queen Bee…throwing big lavish fund raisers, asking Hollyood elites to perform and schmooze, and inviting her rich friends. Galas and balls, wine tastings and white tie dinners to finance Pelosi/Reid franchised health care clinics and hospitals across the fruited plane. Harry could continue to play the joker, rolling his pals and creating wild schemes to support the cause. Anyone who wished to participate would be welcomed into their “dream”.

The rest of us would be free to make a good system even better absent the dead weight.

Libby, your being a outlaw on this issue is a small part of why the Liberals got away this bootlegged plan to insure all at the expense of some. I will agree that anyone should have the legal option of providing for their own wellbeing as it relates to health care.
However this is just one point of a multifaceted goal to socialize our country, agree or disagree, my opinion is just that! Any Government or society only needs to offers me a opportunity to succeed on my own, not a risk free expense paid vacation.
I do not want universal coverage , mostly in part because I agree with Tina that when ever OR where ever it was tried it failed to meet it’s promised goals. So if your one that does not see the need for health care coverage private or other wise, your decision, and please do not ask the rest of us to cover your emergency room or medical expense’s by increasing our billings or plan premiums This is not a a Ant verse a grasshopper fable, this is real and the unexpected needs to be considered in all of ones personal life’s endeavors.

“Universal coverage has been tried in several countries across the globe…it failed miserably, both financially and in terms of service!”

Uh, universal coverage in Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, France … even Canada and the UK are puttering along very nicely, thank you.

“Libby, your being a outlaw on this issue is a small part of why the Liberals got away this bootlegged plan to insure all at the expense of some.”

    What expense, exactly?

  6. Tina says:

Libby healthcare in those countries is not “puttering along nicely” as reported in the news and in negative testimonies from many people who actually needed medical care in those countries and could not get it.

People who think it’s just terrific are generally healthy, get free check ups, and just love that free lunch! They don’t work either…but I hear they riot pretty darn well!

  7. Harold Ey says:

Libby, ‘what expense exactly’ I am simply referring to the fact there is no free lunch with any Government manufactured program. Youre either the contributor through your taxed income that you worked for and earned, or youre the consumer without effort or expenditure. More often than not the working class earners never use the welfare programs (Obamacare) created by Government (for Governments benefit mostly) using workers labor and salarys in exchange for re-election. So I would say the tax payers are the ones whose ‘what expense this always applies too. Government has never done one thing to earn money; they only spend dollars which are created by us, the tax payers.
And to the ‘exactly?’ part, quoting you:’I was quite looking forward to becoming an outlaw. The day will never come when I pay any privately held … or even publically held … health insurer any monthly fee so’s they can turn around an say my condition ain’t covered.
    No. Not ever.’
your statement leads me to the conclusion, should you need health care at some point your going to be the consumer and part of the 30 million or so uninsured, (and in your case as it reads by choice) that help cause this abomination called Obamacare.
