A man from Saudi Arabia attending school in Texas was arrested yesterday on charges he had purchased materials and plotted targets in an attempted to use a weapon of mass destruction. Targets included the Dallas home of President GW Bush. This was not a sting operation but rather began with a tip from a chemicals vendor.

Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a citizen of Saudi Arabia and resident of Lubbock, Texas, was arrested late yesterday by FBI agents in Texas on a federal charge of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction in connection with his alleged purchase of chemicals and equipment necessary to make an improvised explosive device (IED) and his research of potential U.S. targets.

The arrest and the criminal complaint, which was unsealed in the Northern District of Texas, were announced by David Kris, Assistant Attorney General for National Security; James T. Jacks, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas; and Robert E. Casey Jr., Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Dallas Field Division.

Aldawsari is expected to make his initial appearance in federal court in Lubbock at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning. Aldawsari, who was lawfully admitted into the United States in 2008 on a student visa and is enrolled at South Plains College near Lubbock, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.

I heard about this on NPR, and the mainstream media
    Can it be true?

This clown told the world of his plans and even sent emails to himself, leaving a perfect electronic record that could have been followed by a four-year-old. This guy is dumb enough to be in the TEA party–he is obviously not smart enough to make bombs!

I think this is a setup by the government-controlled media to keep us scared.

    I don’t believe it.

  2. Post Scripts says:

Imagine that… A Muslim Saudi student on a visa, between the age of 18 and 35 trying to do an act of terrorism – who wouldda thunk? I wonder if he got a pass at TSA while they checked over a grandma from Idaho for shoe bombs?

  3. Steve says:

Well of course! It just couldn’t be possible that someone from Saudi Arabia would want to kill Americans could it? He’d have to be dumb enough to vote for Obama, or at least to believe in lame conspiracy theories!

  4. Tina says:

I wonder at our continued policy to allow student visas at this particular time in history! The profile of would-be bombers would suggest that erring on the side of safety for the American people would be the smarter move.

  5. Post Scripts says:

America has been accused of many things, but making the smart move has never been one of them. Least not for many, many years.
