For the last week or so the national media has been doing everything they can to scare us with tales of nuclear meltdown. It’s already turned into a political movement against nuclear energy here in the states, despite the obvious benefits. But the press likes us all scared so here we are, potassium idodide pills in hand, just waiting for the end. Still waiting to die.
It’s not a new phenomenon for us in America. The press has been telling us, in one form or another, that we’re all going to die for decades now. The most recent scare has clearly been global warming. At some point frenzied environmentalists were sure that the sky would burn and California would end up underwater. Pretty much all my life I’ve heard the doomsdays theories on when the end was coming (based on science of course), but here we are, still waiting to die.
Now that we’ve gone through one of the coldest winters and a country covered in snow, those frenzied types are now calling the threat “climate change.” This is an easier term for them to scare us with as they can use it no matter which way the global temperatures go. Whether or not Al Gore will continue to rake in money and nobel prizes remains to be seen.
Our nation’s energy prices are getting so bad that people soon probably will die from lack of basic amenities. This doesn’t bother our man-child president though, as he thinks we all use too much energy anyway (not that he’s giving up his). I think his world strategy is now to wait for everyone else to die so he won’t have to lead anyone. Heaven forbid he do anything to help us out like letting us drill for our own oil or harvest our own timber.
So here I am, just waiting to die from all the scary stuff the press tells me about on the TV. I’m told it could all be averted if I give up my freedom, my car, and my woodstove and let the ivory tower liberals just run my life for me. Quit my job, get on welfare, and do what the nice government man tells me to do. Then I can wait to die in an orderly fashion.
But my soul would already be dead.
So I’m not having any of it. In fact, I’m going to live it up. But I wonder, if I turn off the news for a year or two, will anything be different when I come back? Or will they still be warning me of my imminent death? You bet they will.
Better not listen to the MSM!
Listen to “Fair and Balanced” instead.
We can instead be scared of North Korean nukes.
or
Iranian nukes.
or
Al Qaeda
or
the Taliban
or
TERRORISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So here I am, just waiting to die from all the scary stuff the press tells me about on the TV. I’m told it could all be averted if I give up my retirement, a quarter of my wages, and any dreams that my life is going to be better than my parents. Let all the jobs go to countries where they have socialized medicine, and scrounge for a burger flipping job, and do what Sarah Palin tells me to do. Then I can wait to die in an orderly fashion from radiation because only liberal kooks think reactors are dangerous.
While waiting I will ponder the absolute stupidity of people who believe in liberal, socialist corporations!
They cant let a really good disaster go to waste. I just heard on the radio they are putting the Japanese incident on the same level as Three Mile Island, lol. I am not sure who “they” are but clearly they are crazy. Now granted I was only 14 yrs old when we moved to Reading, Pa. We only had the MSM in 1979 to listen to but not even they could fake massive explosions and huge evacuations of people as much as they would have loved to.
So yes this has turned to a huge story of bullshit in our Country. When people in this Country sees coverage of what’s going on in Japan they should be ashamed. They are faced with death on a scale that boggles the mind and yet you see no rioting, no looting, no angry mobs. Just ask yourself how some Americans would react to something like this. Oh and they would be well organized while they riot, loot and mob.
This nuke story is so “politically correct” in the minds of liberals that its pushed the war story in Libya into a distant second. What a wonderful opportunity to trash nuclear energy and promote wind power! Obama is spending billions of our dollars on developing wind and solar. Never mind that the combined output of wind and solar is now less than 1% of energy in the USA.
We’re not going to solve our energy problems by relying on wind and solar, the science is not there yet.
I understand cow farts are the next big thing. They consist of methane gas, which burns just like natural gas. The only problem is how to capture this wonderous substance, but that is nothing a few hundred billion taxpayer dollars could not fix.
Soaps I just experience a meltdown over the word torure…thanks to you I may get to sleep after all…I’ll just count cows in various states of greenhouse gas contribution…smile!
Tina, you made a very rational argument about what is torture and I absolutely agree with everything you said. Well done.
Only a small fraction of people would call Manning’s incarceration torture. Chris is out of step on this one, but at least he’s out of step for a compassionate reason. He’s relying a technical definition of torture, but that of course is so broad it’s not applicable. What Manning is getting is only what he has brought on himself, but that being said I also disagree that his incarceration rises to the point of torture. He’s only separated from other prisoners, he has contact with prison guards, visitors, his attorney, medicat staff, etc..
Chris, in this case the dictionary is a poor substitute for your brain. You should see that Manning should be kept in isolation for national security – there is no other practical choice and I don’t feel sorry for this traitor one bit.
I’ve worked with a lot of people who were so “by the book” they were anal. Those fools were incapable of seeing the big picture and/or afraid to deviate from that which was written for them by others. Small minds are by the book, it’s the best they can do. Don’t you be like that, you have a bright mind! Tina nailed you and its in your best interests to see what she was talking about, you’ll be a better person for it. Don’t be one of those anal types.
