In a previous article we discussed how Congress is exempt from insider trading laws and this allows them to do very, very, well playing the market. After more investigation it turns out a democrat actually drafted legislation to make this illegal. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) introduced a bill last March. Of course I’m disappointed it wasn’t a republican stepping up, but I’ll take it and be happy. The downside is the bill hasn’t been well received…apparently there’s very little interest in seeing it passed. I’m considering our options and what we could do about that. Maybe a write-in campaign or phone calls, there has to be something we can do to help this bill become law. Your thoughts?
If you would like to read the bill it’s H.R. 1148. Here’s the link:

It sickens me that we need a new law that makes elected officials accountable to the same laws as the rest of us! If anything they should be held to a higher standard and punished much more severely because they are the makers of laws. I guarantee you start hanging a couple of those people they will straighten up and fly right.
Well, I wrote to Wally Herger about it, on his website, partly just to see how well his website works – I usually send him letters via “snail mail.”
We’ll see what he has to say. I gave him the link to this blog just in case he is not familiar with the bill.
The least we can do is invite Wally to our Revolution, for geeshy sakes.
Excellent idea!
Let’s write to the foxes and see if they will write laws to guard our henhouse.
That’ll work!
Quentin if enough people protest then it will get attention – politicians respond to votes if their are enough of them at risk.
I think the idea of laws for everyone is something the Tea Party would endorse. I would actually enjoy seeing it proposed and see who opposes it. Maybe that has something to do with why everyone is so scared of the Tea Party.
