The President recently attended a fundraising dinner in New York with big Wall Street bankers in attendance at $35,800.00 a plate. His speech, according to this Businessweek article, contrasted his vision for America with the Republican vision as he sees it:
…the 2012 political campaign is “about a set of contrasting visions” between the Republicans’ “cramped” vision that would cut entitlements and the Democrats’ “big generous vision” of America. ** …one vision wants to “shrink” the government to size it was in 1930s, while his (Obama’s) party’s vision “says we’re going to have to share sacrifice.”
Oh he’s generous all right…generous with other people’s money. And Sacrifice? Given the assembled dined on “Maine lobster salad with roasted beets, duos of Black Angus beef, braised short ribs with young spinach, and roasted tenderloin with stuffed potato and hen of the woods”, it’s hard to imagine much sacrificing will go on if democrats continue to oversee that big generous vision.
The Republican vision is a free America where people are encouraged to improve their own lives, to follow their own dreams, and to invest and share the fruits of their labors as they see fit.
A vision for spreading the wealth using our hard earned money while colluding and conspiring for personal enrichment doesn’t, as they say, pass the smell test. Obama’s vision is a failed vision where “shared sacrifice” leads to shared despair for all but him and his fat cat banking pals.
Yes, I think EVERYBODY is pissed about this. Feting these people for the sake of campaign contributions isn’t sitting well with anybody. The weasels have done very well by Obama, and I’m sure they would have written the checks without the lavish supper … or would they?
Off with their heads! Or better still, tax them into next Tuesday!
More to the point Obama and the weasels have not done well by America but let’s face it, weasels will always be with us. Obama has taken collusion with the weasels to a whole new level.
The guy has to go….time to send the community organizer back to Chicago.
I’m sorry Obama was ever elected, he has been a very poor example of a president and this is very unfortunate for the country and for the black community. As the first black president, with all the hopes and dreams that he represented, they deserved to have someone better. I wish it could have been a person we could all be proud of and not a Chicago style weasel.
Sure glad Blagojevich was convicted!!!!! The rotten weasel, rat, scum, lying, democrat. He’s kinda typical of what comes out of Chicago.
Good one Libs!!!
Jack I agree…on all counts…but particularly about how we deserved better in a first black president. This is what comes of emotional support of a candidate and turning a blind eye.
Im with you Tina that Blogo will finally be going to prison for his corrupt actions. Now, if we can find the link between him, Valerie Jarrett and Obama wed be on our way out of this mess. Hopefully, some of the jurors will come forward and explain the rationale for their verdicts.
Oh but, there in lies the problem since the MSM wont report it. The only way to reach everyone is with campaign adds paid for with small and large contribution from those who really want the truth made known.
Of course there are always emails and blogs like Post Script to help get the truth out. So, heres one of those emails I just received that I noticed is still not complete. It doesnt mention him calling the police in Chicago foolish after saying he didnt have all the facts.
Read it and weep. Sorry its so long. I really wish it wasnt.
THINK ABOUT IT!
*If any other of our presidents had doubled the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?*
*If any other of our presidents had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would you think that he is just an ignorant hot head? *
*If any other of our presidents joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder who’s side he was on? *
*If any other of our presidents had pronounced the Marine Corps like Marine Corpse, would you think him an idiot? *
*If any other of our presidents had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records of any industry because one foreign company had an accident, would you have agreed? *
*If any other of our presidents had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87000 American workers unemployed would you support him? *
*If any other of our presidents had been the first President to need a Teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes? *
*If any other of our presidents had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take his First Lady to a play in NYC, would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had reduced your retirement plan holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought it a proud moment for America ? *
*If any other of our presidents had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip? *
*If any other of our presidents had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved? *
*If any other of our presidents had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , wouldn’t you have had second thoughts about his capabilities? *
*If any other of our presidents would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in his home town, would you not have thought he was a self-important, conceited, egotistical jerk. *
*If any other of our presidents had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again,
wouldn’t you have winced in embarrassment? *
*If any other of our presidents had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?*
*If any other of our presidents’ administrations had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11? *
*If any other of our presidents had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence? *
*If any other of our presidents had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have ever approved. *
*If any other of our presidents had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved? *
*So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? *
*Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in 24 months — so you have that much time to come up with an answer.*
*Every statement and action in this email is factual and directly attributable to Barrack Hussein Obama. Every bumble is a matter of record and completely verifiable. *
“Sure glad Blagojevich was convicted!!!!! The rotten weasel, rat, scum, lying, democrat. He’s kinda typical of what comes out of Chicago.”
Yeah, he can play ping pong with George Ryan. Honestly, someday you’re going to realize what all this partisanism is really worth.
Peggy, if you put that list together yourself, you wasted a shocking lot of time indulging (and exposing) prejudices that are entirely your own.
I myself haven’t actually listened to presidential remarks (Repug or Dem) in probably 30 years … longer. Developed an aversion during the Reagan years, which I have never been able to overcome.
Libby….Partisanship is not my strong suit, I still reserve the right to denounce partisan crooks when and where I find them. George Ryan can rot in jail too. Besides his political corruption he commuted the deaths that comes out of the rotten state of Illinois. The people back there seem to have a total different tact on ethics than we do.
Libs you should be as thankful as I am every time we get rid of a crooked politician no matter what party they are in!
“The Republican vision is a free America where people are encouraged to improve their own lives, to follow their own dreams, and to invest and share the fruits of their labors as they see fit.”
THIS is why I was a registered Republican for twenty years.
Alas, if the Republicans had ever–even just once–fielded a candidate–in ANY race, ANYwhere–who held these values, I would have voted for that candidate!
This “vision” is just that–a mirage!
Quentin, I know what you’re saying and yes, there are lot of rats in the system! But, they aren’t all bad people who lie, cheat and steal. There are some honest ones left…not many, but enough to keep hope alive.
We must keep the pressure on to make that vision a reality. Let’s go after the rotten bums and make their lives miserable! That’s our job – lets be the people that go after corrupt politicians and drive them out of office!
Quentin while I fully understand the frustration you rightly experience I have to say you have created a situation for yourself that can only lead to disappointment and anger. You have such high expectations, not only for outcomes but also for individual performance. No one can work within our system of checks and balances and achieve what you would think was desirable every single time.
I don’t know when you gave up your Republican affiliation but I do know that your upset (anger, disgust, hatred?) with Reagan clouds your memory of his grounding and principles.
Reagan:
“There are some honest [Republicans left.]
name 3
I’m not sure what cutting & pasting a bunch of Reagan’s quotes have to do with anything. Sure he talked the talk, but he never, NEVER walked the walk.
He cut and ran in Lebanon.
He raised taxes 11 times as president–including the LARGEST peace-time tax increase EVER!!!!
He raised Capital Gains taxes 40%.
He TRIPLED the National Debt–AFTER raising all that money!!!
He incurred a 4.2 TRILLION DOLLAR indebtedness that we must pay off next year, and we have no money to do it with.
Ronald Reagan was NO Republican.
I do know, Tina, that your blind love for everything you hear on the radio has blinded you to the TRUTH about Ronald Reagan–he was a tax & spend liberal!
If you ever get off your butt and answer my question from 3 years ago about what defines a conservative, then you can apply your own answers to Ronald Reagan. You will see how wrong you have been, Ronny doesn’t even come close!
BTW
my “High Expectations?”
They come from the Constitution.
It is because YOU are so willing to settle for less,
that America sucks.
It is because YOU feel that following the rules is a “high Expectation” that the Chinese will be our masters in 20 years.
If YOU cared about the constitution, America would not be in the dire straits we are.
Quentin: “I’m not sure what cutting & pasting a bunch of Reagan’s quotes have to do with anything.”
They have everything to do with your assertion! You clearly wrote:
I don’t know whether you voted for the man or not but the Republicans clearly fielded a candidate who held those values…Reagan!
“but he never, NEVER walked the walk.”
Bull pucky Quentin. His polices, along with his leadership, ushered in the longest period of economic growth this country has experienced in decades! It could have been even better except for the roadblocks and undermining efforts of democrats (and linguini spined republicans) who faught his polices tooth and nail. What was most incredible…he inspired the people at all levels to be more enterprising. Small businesses exploded onto the scene.Reagan was able to strike a spark of renewal in the American people that is impossible to deny.
Your problem is that you refuse to accept that we live in the real flesh and blood world. Life, and particularly government, doesn’t occur on a written page where we can decide how it all turns out and paint our own happy ending. In this real world NOBODY could achieve what you desire and expect…NOBODY!!!
You are a condemned man, a man placed in prison by his own hand, stuck in the freakish world of impossible expectation.
“my “High Expectations?” They come from the Constitution.”
No! Your values and principles do but your expectations of others come from your own disfunctional mind. You have, as I said, taken yourself out of the game. You can’t really participate because there will never be anyone to champion. Ron Paul would not be able to achieve what you desire…the Congress would not let him. Wake up man…it’s a republic with all of those representatives checking each other and the President…keeping would be Kings oppressed. It’s not perfect but it is the best system devised by man (under God).
“It is because YOU are so willing to settle for less…”
This too is a dam* lie. I accept the reality of the system. I accept the outcome when the cow has left the barn. I fight every single day for excellence and awareness for or about: liberty, the entreprenurial spirit, our educational institutions, integrity of those in service, business practices, civic responsibility, etc. I fight every day against: corruption, low morals, big government.
You confuse principles and process. My principles are the foundation upon which I stand…process is everyday activity.
“It is because YOU feel that following the rules is a “high Expectation” that the Chinese will be our masters in 20 years. If YOU cared about the constitution, America would not be in the dire straits we are.”
OK. I get it. I don’t meet your level of expectation either. But I’m also very clear that no person on the planet will ever meet your expectations. (Not even Ron Paul would should he ever have the chance to serve as President)
Here’s the deeper darker secret…YOU wouldn’t either. it’s easy to stand on the sidelines as critique…not so easy to get in the game and produce.
Ronald Reagan continues to inspire because of his grounding…not his record which was mixed but IMHO pretty incredible given where he began. He articulated what we all hope for and what we on the right press for every day as best we can.
I’m very fond of you Quentin…wish I could persuade you to spend more time talking about your vision and less time as critic. America needs to hear, digest and, God willing, begin to turn in the direction you desire. We are a big ship…your hand is on the trim tab…even the smallest effort can have a huge impact.
Quentin asks me to name 3 republicans I feel are honest.
Okey dokey…..that’s easy, Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Sen. Jim Demitt, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Gerald Ford, former Rep. Linda Smith to name but a few.
Now you name 3 politicians you believe are honest, principled people.
“Besides his political corruption he commuted the deaths that comes out of the rotten state of Illinois.”
You people are frequently morrally incomprehensible.
For the record…Reagans other record:
The top income tax rate (on the rich) was reduced from 70 percent to a low of 28 percent. Total federal spending was reduced from 23.5 percent of gross domestic product to 21.2 percent. Deregulation ended disastrous price controls and curtailed the governments micromanaging of private businesses. Disciplined money supply strengthened the dollar. 20 million jobs were created. Unemployment dropped to 5.3 percent. The gross domestic product growth rate hit a high of 6.8 percent, and the total economy grew by nearly a third. Inflation dropped to 3.2 percent. Even the oil shortage was solved…no more gas lines, odd and even days and wearing sweaters as an energy policy.
“The top income tax rate (on the rich) was reduced from 70 percent to a low of 28 percent. Total federal spending was reduced from 23.5 percent of gross domestic product to 21.2 percent.”
Tina, for pity’s sake, do the math.
That’s 23.5 percent of gross domestic product“.
To do the math we would need more figures but the key thing to notice is that the economy grew. Twenty million jobs were created…inflation dropping to 3.2 percent meant prices came down and people could afford to buy things again. MORE revenue foowed to government.
You can tax a few things at a high rate or you can tax a great big bunch of things at a lower rate. Which do you think offers more incentive for people to engage in business or hire?
People pay taxes when they work…when they collect unemployment or remain idle they pay nothing and are more likely to take from government coffers.
More and more the question becomes…why do liberal progressives want America do die and become like Greece?
“Besides his political corruption he commuted the deaths that comes out of the rotten state of Illinois.”

Nobody’s taken me up on this and I want to be clear. Ryan may have spent his entire tenure as Secretary of State selling everything that wasn’t nailed down, but when he became Governor, and it was proved by belated DNA evidence that the State of Illinois had executed an innnocent man … he commuted all the other death sentences in the state, rather than let it happen again. This was entirely moral, and entirely cool, and not unprecedented.
Other worldly fellows, when presented with the chance to step up, have taken it. Truman was a cog in the machine his whole career. Do you think that the machine was in favor of desegregating the army in ’48? Think again. But it was the right think to do, and he did it.
