Let’s all hope this bill fails and reason prevails!
Radical left-wing democrats want to control every aspect of your life and as if you needed more proof….well, here we go again: Assemblyman Tom Ammiano-D (shown left), from the 13th assembly district is introducing AB 889 that will change everything. He serves a portion of San Francisco and he has submitted a bill that is on its way to passing.
The bill is opposed by 100% of the dwindling minority of republicans lawmakers still remaining in the democrat dominated state legislature. But, rumor has it that a few democrats might be ready switch their vote and join with the GOP.
Assembly bill AB 889 (the so-called Domestic Workers Bill of Rights) will force you, as the employer, to pay your baby-sitter, housekeeper, care giver, lawn boy, etc., a minimum wage. And many of you will be saying, okay, that’s probably no big deal. But, hold on! There’s more….if this bill goes through, you must also pay workers compensation and arrange for a relief worker to come in every two hours for bathroom breaks and a one hour lunch break… and there was a provision for 1 hour of vacation time for every thirty hours worked. Update: The part about vacation pay was taken out, apparently that was too much even for the most of liberal democrats. However, it was this wacko, Tom Ammiano, intention to stick you with it, so it was worth mentioning. This guy needs to go back home to his Mission District and stay there! The man is a menace.
How could anyone with half a brain even consider signing on to such an idiotic bill?
When (or if) this bill passes and you try to work something else out with your domestic employee, be advised you do so at your own risk of a heavy fine and or jail time.
Ammiano is also pushing for lower penalties for marijuana growers. He’s trying to have an opt-out clause for California regarding Homeland Security, Customs and Immigration with regards to illegal aliens. Ammiano also supports creating yet another police oversight committee to be sure civil rights are protected and law enforcement agencies are held accountable to the people! Even though there is already an existing committee for said purpose in his district and districts statewide. Further, the Assemblyman wants to pass a bill that places an absolute cap on the number of charter schools (1,450 statewide, and 10% of a school district). As you may know, Charter Schools with local control, often deviate from the government one-size-fits-all model, and therefore their success must be limited if government is to maintain control over education. There’s also a bill to slow down the eviction process for deadbeat renters that Ammiano is pushing. There’s more, a lot more, check out his website!
Want to know more about this Assemblyman? Here is an excerpt from his biography: In 1975, he became the first public school teacher in San Francisco to make his sexual orientation a matter of public knowledge. In 1977, Ammiano founded the movement (No on 6) against the Briggs Initiative, an effort to ban all gay people from teaching in California, with activists Hank Wilson and Harvey Milk. The anti-Briggs movement was successful in defeating the initiative in 1978.
Tom was elected to the San Francisco School Board in 1990, where he served until 1994 and was elected President of the School Board. In 1994, Tom won citywide election to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. In 2000, after the institution of district elections, Tom was elected District 9 Supervisor, and he represented the Mission District, Bernal Heights and Portrero neighborhoods until his election as the Assemblymember for AD-13 in the fall of 2008.
Is there any doubt whatsoever about the agenda by people like Tom Ammiano to control your life, destroy the economy and what little democracy remains in the formerly great State of California?
As soon as this bill passes, there will be a lot of workers fired (mostly low income Hispanics) that currently work doing house cleaning or as care givers to elderly and infirm persons. Ammiano will be punishing the very people he thinks he will be helping. But, they vote for democrats all the time, so as the saying goes, you get the kind of government you deserve.
It will force people to ask for ID from the workers, not really something the illegal vote will like. I took a few minutes and loaded my dishwasher, and it occurred to me that this is really no big deal. If you trust the people working for you this is easy to get around. If anyone asks the yard guy questions he can say he is doing the work for free and then tell the person asking the questions to gfhs. Does the bill say anything about “tipping” people or “found” money? I find all kinds of stuff, who is to say the lawn guy doesn’t get lucky and find $100 under a rock? All kinds of ways to get around bullshit like this. You know the dems who vote for this have already figured out how to work the system.
Toby: “…who is to say the lawn guy doesn’t get lucky and find $100 under a rock?”
LOL…not to mention his good fortune at finding it week after week…after week!
But luck isn’t the only avenue available…there is gifting too. He does you a favor and you gift him the hundred…just because he’s such a nice guy!
My husband is right…these idiots don’t have enough to do in their own lives. maybe we should put them to work building a bridge to nowhere just to get them out of our lives.
