Nevada Guard Shooting Incident – Open Letter to BG Burks

Carson City, Nevada: A nutcase by the name of Eduardo Sencion, 32, opened fire with a foreign made semi-auto 7.63X39 rifle at near point blank range on 3 national guard soldiers and one civilian. All died.

They were eating lunch at IHOP’s and being attacked by a gunman was probably the last thing on their minds. These unarmed war veterans and one civilian didn’t have a chance. The gunman then kept shooting at anyone or anything. Before it was over there were 5 dead including the gunman, who eventually shot himself. It could have been much worse. The motive is unknown and it may never be known.

The Brigadier General for the Nevada National Guard felt he had to do something as an affirmative response to this insanity. He ordered all Nevada Guard soldiers not wear their uniforms in public, off base. This is an understandable decision, but a decision I absolutely don’t agree with one bit.

7 SEP 11
Att: Brigadier General William R. Burks:

I’m a bit embarrassed that a former NCO like me needs to remind the general, but you’re asking your soldiers hide by taking off their uniform while in public in America. With all due respect that’s downright offensive, sir!

General, I’ll bet if you gave your soldiers a choice to wear their uniform in public or change into civy’s they would wear it proudly, 100% of them. They would say screw the risk, they’re not going to let some nut influence them, and neither should you, sir.

General, I respectfully request that you rescind that order. I understand you feel you must do something, but this isn’t it, sir. Nothing is going to bring those soldiers back now. You must deal with the loss another way and carry on. NO RETREAT – NO CONCESSION…SIR! That’s what your soldiers need to hear.

Dang Jack, do you have this right on or what? I can’t believe this is the response from a leader!

What Brigadier General William R. Burks needs to do is become Brigadier General William R. Burks, Retired. If he thinks it a good idea for the Guard to hide in public, good for morale, good for soldiers, good for image, good for America he is simply as wrong as wrong can be.

There should be a public funeral for all the victims preceded a long uniformed procession of the Nevada National Guard and terminated with followed full honors and a gun salute.

No enlisted man nor officer should be forced to follow Brigadier General William R. Burks order. He should be removed from his position and his order rescinded immediately.

Quentin, if we wouldn’t get busted for impersonating a soldier, I would gladly go to Carson City with you and stop in all over town in uniform. I’ve got my ACU’s hanging up in the closet, read to roll.

We should never be afraid to wear any military or police uniform out in public in our own country. If its come to that – then game over.

Thanks Pie, I’m glad we’re tracking so close on this one. We had a similar “chicken” order like that for the Guard in California just a few years ago. Soldiers traveling to and from camp had to remove their duty uniform so they did not become possible targets for Muslim wackos living among us. Rather than remove the uniform I would rather remove the wackos! lol

A few of the soldiers I knew traveled with a loaded weapon in their vehicle. I sure did. I had a nice little .40 cal in glove box just in case. This was at a time when the FBI captured a number of radical Muslims planning to attack military installations.

Count this old squid in on your protest! I wonder how deep they will bother to investigate the origins of the shooter and the weapon used? And can we trust what they do tell us? Do you really think Obama is going to let it be made known one of his assault rifles was used in this? Was this guy a union member? Maybe we should be investigating Hoffa as a co-conspirator. Oh wait I forgot, the Justice Department has nothing to do with justice.I guess that investigation will have to wait for 2012 with all the others.

  5. Post Scripts says:

Toby, one thing that has surfaced is the shooter was born in Mexico, whether or not he arrived here in a legal method has yet to be determined. Allegedly he held a U.S. passport and if that was true, then he became a citizen somehow. If you’re a certfiable violent wackjob, I wonder, do we still take you in as a citizen so you can vote democrat?
