Stern Applauds Communism over Free Market-International “Test of Wills”

by Tina Grazier

The shock of 9/11 was devastating to Americans but as we grieved we also gathered in strength and recovered to a much greater degree than our enemies would have hoped. They could not have known of the resilience and grit of a free people. Our recovery provided the perfect image of free men, men who could think for themselves, organize amongst themselves, cooperate and coordinate efforts, and then act with determination and strength; free men able to get on with life, to repair and renew on their own and with each other’s help. It’s not easy to shake the ground of free men and women.

But 911 was also a significant moment in our history for opportunists and extremists both at home and around the world as they plotted to transform, discredit, or destroy the United States of America. For the first time in a long time our enemies could see that America was vulnerable. Eleven years later enemies of freedom continue plot, plan, and execute efforts to undermine the American system of government, law, and economy.

America is under attack on many fronts: Islamists act in a covert peaceful jihad; Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez giving anti-American speeches at the U.N. and collaborating to aid terrorist in South America; ACORN operatives threatening banks with civil rights lawsuits if they refuse to approve loans to unqualified home buyers; green activists with unreasonable energy demands; unions plotting with congress and the administration to end the private vote for workers; the EPA and other agencies given extraordinary power to regulate; the OWS movement waging protest against all of corporate America. These are but a few among the many entities that would see the free market and the freedom to engage in productive work completely collapse. Even the current President of the United States, who vowed to fundamentally transform America, will bring our free market system tumbling down if his agenda to further socialize America and eliminate coal, gas, and oil is fully implemented. His war on business has not gone unnoticed. His determination to have government decide the economic fates of all citizens through central planning more than evident. Krauthammer :

His goal is to rewrite the American social compact, to recast the relationship between government and citizen. He wants government to narrow the nation’s income and anxiety gaps. Soak the rich for reasons of revenue and justice. Nationalize health care and federalize education to grant all citizens of all classes the freedom from anxiety about health care and college that the rich enjoy. And fund this vast new social safety net through the cash cow of a disguised carbon tax.

Obama is a leveler. He has come to narrow the divide between rich and poor. For him the ultimate social value is fairness. Imposing it upon the American social order is his mission.

Across America and the world there are many useful idiots lending aid and comfort to these destructive entities. They offer their support because they imagine that ending the free market will finally bring fairness and usher in world peace. Efforts to destroy freedom and the free market are not conspiracy in all cases but they certainly constitute an international anti-American alignment of purpose.

There are many players plotting to harm America! Are we up for the fight or have too many of us become useful idiots used as pawns? The next election will provide the answer. Will it be free markets in America or will Americans finally swallow the oppressive Marxist model hook, line and sinker?

Andy Stern, former labor leader and Obama pal, recently praised the superiority of central planning in China claiming the following:

The conservative-preferred, free-market fundamentalist, shareholder-only model–so successful in the 20th century–is being thrown onto the trash heap of history in the 21st century.”

Hmmm, where have we heard that term “trash heap” before?

I first heard it when Ronald Reagan, in his 1982 speech to the British Parliament, used it to describe the fate of the communist system. He actually used “ash heap” but the sentiment remains the same:

What I am describing now is a plan and a hope for the long term — the march of freedom and democracy which will leave Marxism-Leninism on the ash-heap of history as it has left other tyrannies which stifle the freedom and muzzle the self-expression of the people. And that’s why we must continue our efforts to strengthen NATO even as we move forward with our Zero-Option initiative in the negotiations on intermediate-range forces and our proposal for a one-third reduction in strategic ballistic missile warheads.

Our military strength is a prerequisite to peace, but let it be clear we maintain this strength in the hope it will never be used, for the ultimate determinant in the struggle that’s now going on in the world will not be bombs and rockets, but a test of wills and ideas, a trial of spiritual resolve, the values we hold, the beliefs we cherish, the ideals to which we are dedicated.

Reagan’s victory over the old Soviet Union was, as we can now see, only the beginning in this modern day “test of wills”. Many countries in the last decade, including China, have moved toward free markets even as they try to retain government controls. The forces that prefer dictatorship and central planning continue to press for a world dominated by the Marxist model! Andy Stern is no exception.

In January of 2009 Philip Slater, writing at Huffington Post, used the term “trash heap” as he described the “greed” that he says drives the free market system. If you read far enough into his article you find that his agenda is the exact color of money! A green movement guy, concerned about landfills and such, Mr. Slater overlooks the many people in the green movement that are heavily invested in green energy technology and carbon trading schemes. Al Gore is the most obvious example. Not only did he promote the AGW theory as fact, making big bucks in the process, he created political will by using scare tactics to bring people on board and positioned to make millions more. As the people pushed governments for green legislation and governments began to impose extreme carbon control laws Gore had already created a carbon exchange service. Under a Marxist model of central control this kind of greed exists but it exists only for those few who handshake with the controllers at the top in government. Under a Marxist system individual citizens, whether motivated by greed or charity, will not be free to determine their own futures and destiny.

Remember when President Obama said that he wanted to fundamentally transform America? I think it’s pretty clear given his record over the last three years and the rhetoric of his close union and green supporters and advisors that the goal is to make America look more like China, just as Andy Stern suggested in the WSJ article. He has urged the EPA to enforce stricter carbon regulations bypassing Congress in the process. He has worked with Pelosi and Reid to push through another costly entitlement program. He has put a stop to drilling in the gulf and favored alternative energy companies with abundant amounts of cash. All of these have served to stifle business, the creation of jobs, and the confidence of the people.

We Americans live in a time when enemies from without and within threaten. We live in a time when the very foundations of our country are being shaken. We live in a time when extremists wish to crush our economic and social systems and when too many of our citizens fail to see the threat and under value the principles that have guided us and made us successful and prosperous for more than 200 years.

I hope and pray that Americans will remember that greed is not a product of the free market but instead a human failing that exists in humans under any system of government or endeavor. I hope and pray that we remember our history and the brilliance of our founders in creating this great republic. I hope and pray that we continue to be mindful that a Marxist system of control will ultimately deliver absolute control or tyranny as it has in regimes all across the globe. If we fail to reverse our current course and to stand strong and united for freedom and free markets our children’s children will tell of their forebears who once could create a life for themselves and actually make a profit from owning their own business…or how they could live on a piece of land they called their own.

While Stern applauds communism and the President’s dream of another four years America must make a choice. Let it not be our last.
