The main characters are active duty Navy Seals. The plot was inspired by actual events. Not only does this film place you in the moment like no other film can, it fills you with the sense of dedication and honor that drives these men to serve our country. As the final scenes played out I realized I had been privileged to share in the work, the brotherhood, and the sacrifice of these amazing warriors.

Act of Valor begins by introducing the main characters and their families but quickly moves to an urgent briefing and then right into the mission. The official synopsis is informative…

Act of Valor

When a mission to recover a kidnapped CIA operative unexpectedly results in the discovery of an imminent, terrifying global threat, an elite team of highly trained Navy SEALs must immediately embark on a heart-stopping secret operation, the outcome of which will determine the fate of us all.

…but it can’t possibly relay the intensity that overcame me as I watched this film. WOW…what an experience! Every American should see this movie. It offers a view of the dangers facing our country, dangers we will never know about, as well as the commitment and ultimate sacrifice given to keep us safe. I am so proud to be an American having seen our country from their perspective and through their eyes. God bless them all.

Just so long as you know that your prejudices are being pandered to.

We have it at our end to the cultural spectrum too. I don’t know how much of the brouhah over Downton Abbey has seeped up the valley. It’s been much touted down here, but the unhappy fact is the plot lines are cobbled and thin, the characterizations are stock … but we curl up contented, howsoever.

It was actually quite thrilling to see Lord Grantham pounce on the parlour maid in the butler’s pantry.

  2. Tina says:

First time I’ve ever heard patriotism, love of country, and appreciation of those who serve with great honor and distinction a prejudice.

You would be further thrilled to know that a lot of people left the theater in tears.

You really are a good little utopian squirrel aren’t you?

  3. Post Scripts says:

Libby you’re telling us you saw the movie?! I don’t believe it… I bet you’re just repeating what you heard from some lefty and they probably didn’t see it either.

That’s sad that you feel that way Libs. These are your people, they are taking extreme risks doing what their nation calls on them to do..you should be proud of them. You shouldn’t be so cynical, its not good for you….seriously, being that cranky all the time is not healthy.

Tina, you have to remember she’s a unrepentant liberal that is so far to the left she’s lost all perspective of what it means to have warm feelings about our Country, our Constitution and our heritage. So it is completely predictable she would find a way to condemn a movie about American heroes. Now if it had been a Michael Moore movie…. Oscar time!!!

  5. Pie Guevara says:

Absolutely outstanding storytelling. An excellent film that spotlights heroism. Certainly the best yet made this century. Heroism is good. I like it. Heroism requires courage and personal sacrifice, not an ambulance chasing lawyer to sue over a cup of hot coffee. No wonder the left hates it.

Like no one saw the poisoned arrows coming from the usual gang of liberal malcontents over this film! HAH! 😀 What a bunch of dopes.

Re Tina’s: “Libby you’re telling us you saw the movie?! I don’t believe it… I bet you’re just repeating what you heard from another hater of anything patriotic or decent about this country. Your cynicism knows no bounds does it?”

Precisely. Except for “cynicism” bit. I would substitute “hatred” and “laziness”. Make that “lazy hatred” which is so typical of Libby and so called “liberals” in general. Libby, your lazy hatred knows no bounds. Lucky you! How’s it working for you? Are you making friends and influencing people?

The usual gang of half-baked, knee-jerk left wing grumps are slamming this film. So it goes.

    *Yawn*

  6. Post Scripts says:

Pie, as always you got it right! And by the way, that was my comment to Libs. -Jack

  7. Libby says:

If you really will not, or cannot, see that your prejudices are being pandered to … we have a problem.

Enjoy the film, but understand why you do.

The support of suckers is essential to all the political evils of this world. Don’t be be a sucker.

  8. Tina says:

Libby: “If you really will not, or cannot, see that your prejudices are being pandered to … we have a problem.”

Does that smug superiority stuff ever weigh you down?

Name the prejudice! Step up to the plate and actually spit out what’s on your mind for a change instead of hiding behind that meaningless progressive drivel.

The support of suckers is essential to all the political evils of this world.”

Always been on the outside looking in?

Suckers are useful idiots that are lured in to that progressive trap…Marx himself thought as much…Alinsky followed in his footsteps training the chosen few to ensnare people to the needy collective.

Freedom, Libby, It’s called freedom. I value freedom and wish to see it preserved for my children and grandchildren. I’d love to see it spread for all peoples all over the world. The Israelis love freedom too.

The Seals I can count on…they are the good guys. You and your enslaving progressive, terrorist loving buddies…definitey not!

Eyes wide open and committed, thank you very much!

  9. Post Scripts says:

Prejudices? Why is it so bad to enjoy a film the shows Navy Seals being brave, patriotic and killing terrorists trying to slaughter innocent women and children?

Libby…would you rather have this movie version: The Navy Seals are more like ruthless mercenaries with the ethics of a pirate. They kill for sport and profit and they are controlled by an evil CIA boss who is himself involved in a huge conspiracy of evil wealthy corporatists and corrupt GOP politicians looking for more personal gain to dominate the poor and downtrodden masses? Uh, that would be Michael Moore version and 99% of Hollywood directors version too. I betcha you think this version would be pretty accurate huh? lol

  10. Tina says:

A lot of people like freedom and the heroes that defend it:

    http://entertainment.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/26/10512545-act-of-valor-featuring-real-navy-seals-wins-box-office-war

Military drama “Act of Valor” claimed the No. 1 spot on movie box office charts, beating expectations with an estimated $24.7 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales during another busy weekend at theaters.

Tyler Perry’s new drama, “Good Deeds,” finished in second place with $16.0 million

    That is so cool!

  11. Libby says:

“A lot of people like freedom and the heroes that defend it.”

Yeah, a lot of people like to watch carnage (not live it, just watch it), … by whom and upon whom being entirely beside the point of the carnage. And this would be one definition of a sucker.

    Wise up, woman.

  12. Post Scripts says:

I like to watch old war movies, but that doesn’t mean I like war or carnage. I like history too and history is full of carnage…so, we should avoid history too?

I bet you think, All Is Quiet on the Western Front, is a horrible war film about carnage that nobody should ever see?

Geez Libby you paint with a very broad brush all the time. Wish you wouldn’t do that. -Jack

  13. Tina says:

Libby: “Yeah, a lot of people like to watch carnage (not live it, just watch it), … by whom and upon whom being entirely beside the point of the carnage. And this would be one definition of a sucker.”

Sure, if you believe the attraction is the carnage your opinion will be that that person is a sucker. However, your inability to appreciate anything but the carnage makes your opinion not only sick but also prejudiced and therefore irelevant to me and my experience.

Denial of a thing will not make it go away. Denial of good and evil will not change the basic nature of man or the human need for those who are willing to sacrifice so that we may be safe and remain free.

Life is a blessing AND it includes good and evil. You don’t have the power to change that.

Artists involved in this movie have given the observer a gift of appreciation for these men and their work.

    Get a clue woman!

  14. Libby says:

“I like to watch old war movies, but that doesn’t mean I like war or carnage.”

I dunno Jack. I’m seeing painful similarities between all your Iranian rants, your enthusiasm for this web production of interesting origins, and the run up to the Iraqi War.

Somebody is spoonin’, and you are swallowin’ … just like last time.
