Noel Sheppard of NewsBusters has the story:

With all that ails the nation, Meet the Press host David Gregory actually began his interview with Newt Gingrich by asking him about contraceptives and Rush Limbaugh. Showing obvious disgust for the topic, the Republican presidential candidate marvelously responded, “You know, David, I am astonished at the desperation of the elite media to avoid rising gas prices, to avoid the President’s apology to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, to avoid a trillion dollar deficit, to avoid the longest period of unemployment since the Great Depression, and to suddenly decide that Rush Limbaugh is the great national crisis. (emphasis mine)

Follow the link and watch the video. Newt covers a lot of ground in his wonderfully pointed style.

Keep it up Newt!

    Way to go Newt.

Maybe he read Andrew Breitbart’s book Righteous Indignation, which discusses how to talk to the media, About time republicans “grew a pair”

  2. Princess says:

Remember when Meet the Press was actually good? When you could watch real dialogue between Tim Russert and his guest?

David Gregory is a complete fool and a total tool. He disgusts me. What a pathetic stooge.

  3. Libby says:

One of these days, one of these boys is going to answer the question put to him, and the shock is gonna kill me.

I understand that the chief feature of all the debates has been this very thing … to just completely avoid the question, and go off on some rant.

    Surely you’ve noticed.

  4. Princess says:

Are you kidding? David Gregory sucks no matter if his guest is liberal or conservative. He is a pathetic excuse for a “journalist.” Tim Russert used to spend all week doing research and preparing for his guest. He would have had an answer for Newt (he wouldn’t have asked such a lame-assed question though) because Russert was prepared. David Gregory had no response for Newt. Newt totally owned Gregory. It was embarrassing to watch.

And can you honestly say that in your day to day life, the concern on most people’s minds is what Rush Limbaugh says? Limbaugh is an entertainer. He is no different than Howard Stern. He says whatever he has to to get listeners. I don’t even think Rush Limbaugh believes what he says.

The people I know are worried about jobs, war, the cost of college education, and the pathetic state of our public schools thanks to No Child Left Behind.

    Limbaugh is irrelevant.

I love Newt because hes the only one smart enough to see this whole birth control issue is the DNCs plan to divert everyone away from talking about Obamas failed economy, high unemployment and rising gas prices.

It started with George Stephanopoulos question to Romney about states controlling birth control. Didnt make sense then, but it sure does now.

Then Kathleen Sebelius came out with the Dept. of HHS interpretation of the Obamacare mandate requiring religious institutions to violate their first amendment rights. Airways and print media are now filled with nothing but, birth control vs. religious right.

Last but not least was Obama riding in to save us all by granting a waver to the religious institutions, but mandating the cost be born by the insurance providers. (Not a remedy for those that are self-insured. Which many are.) Discussion is now really ratcheted up with the Catholics, Protestants, Jewish all other faith communities are seeing their basic values and rights will be affected by this new mandate.

Newt was the only one that was smart enough to see this whole thing as a big mouse trap with birth control as the cheese. Santorum and Romney jumped on the trap while Newt said no way. We need to talk about the important issues that will defeat Obama. Its the economy, stupid. Not birth control!!!

Newts still got my vote. With his track record of getting a Republican Congress seated, the last time we had a balanced budget, Soc. Sec. reform, welfare reform and most importantly being able to lead a bi-partisan Congress to work with a Democrat president to accomplish all of the above makes him a better candidate then Romney and Santorum combined.

I really love the way he wont be pushed around by the liberal media who keep trying to force him to not talk about Obamas failures.

After not having a leader for over three years we desperately need one, and with Newts past record of dealing with the same issues and more I see him as the best candidate to lead us out of this mess.

His critics have said he was difficult to work with. So what if he stepped on a few toes. He got the job done which is what he was elected to do.
