Gallup is reporting that unemployment rose in February:
The 0.5-percentage-point increase in February compared with January is the largest such month-to-month change Gallup has recorded in its not-seasonally adjusted measure since December 2010, when the rate rose 0.8 points to 9.6% from 8.8% in November. A year ago, Gallup recorded a February increase of 0.4 percentage points, to 10.3% from 9.9% in January 2011.
In addition to the 9.1% of U.S. workers who are unemployed, 10.0% are working part time but want full-time work. This percentage is similar to the 10.1% in January, but is higher than the 9.6% of February 2011.
As a result, Gallup’s U.S. underemployment measure, which combines the percentage of workers who are unemployed and the percentage working part time but wanting full-time work, increased to 19.1% in February from 18.7% in January. This is an improvement from the 19.9% of February 2011.
Hmmm…those promising green shoots are looking a little wilted.
How Government Works
Nearly One Trillion Of “Stimulus” spent in Washington D.C. and they have no count of the jobs created by those expenditures.
Well, essentially no count.
D.C. director of grants, “Im sure there are people who collect such information in D.C., but I dont know who.”
Of the 9,500 jobs D.C. has enumerated more than half 5,961 were created by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education.
In any case, D.C. blew through $885 million dollars and still had a 10.8% unemployment rate at the end of 2011.
Some “stimulus”. Some “govern”ment. Bend over and be welcome to Obama’s world and Democrat heaven.
How’s that for an education, eh?
Yes Tina, unemployment is Galluping higher…er…that was bad.
That’s okay Joseph we appreciate that type of humor around here…it wasn’t so bad ; )
Pie…so glad to have you back!
ALL: I’m dealing with a msall family emergency so my participation may be a little a little spotty. I apologize in advance if I fail to respond. I will do my best to catch up.
Hoping everything will be okay Tina, don’t worry about us, we’ll just talk amongst ourselves till you can get back.
🙂
I know. It’s killin’ ya. And today I heard that the .05 percent was accounted for by people who had given up looking for work … returning to the search.
All it needs is for Romney to betray his decidedly elitist world view three or four more times … and we can count on it … and Obama has his second term.
What he will be able to do with it … heaven only knows.
