The Federal Government can print money and they do. The State of California can’t and they don’t. The City of Chico can’t either. The irony is both the latter institutions make decisions like they can. Where do Americans get their financial sense? Watch the video below to learn. No wonder we can’t make good financial decisions in government, we can’t handle our own finances. Conservative or liberal, make informed choices this election season. Ask who will spend your money on the things that support free enterprise and capitalism. If they’re going to take it, they at least shouldn’t use it against us….

Sean, you’re 100% right. The democrats in CA are the only party to blame for CA’s financial mess because they control everything, it’s all on them! I’m hoping voters will be motivated to boot them out of office. We should boot out the liberals on the council too for the same reasons. They have made an awful mess of city finances. The liberals on the council are not business people, they have no concept of what it is to manage our tax dollars wisely and they need to go. This is nothing personal, it is merely accountability for poorly managing the taxpayers dollars. We need a more competent city council which is why I am supporting only those candidates with a strong background and experience in business management.

Great post Sean!
I’ve been saying for years that we need to teach young people about economics and finance. I think we should start early…in grammar school. They need to have a strong grounding so they will know how powerful they can be in their own lives with just a little information!
I hate to say it but I don’t think Democrats want people to know about finance or be economically powerful in their own lives.
Interest article for those in the stock market.
Election Year and the Stock Market:

This is why things never change. We refuse to hold Republicans accountable. We just had a Republican governor who we elected twice. He raised taxes on us and didn’t exactly leave the state in great shape. So how can we blame this 100% on Democrats? That is ridiculous. Every loser politician we have in Sacramento is worthless. Even the Republicans. We elect them to represent us. All I hear from Republicans is bad mouthing Dems. I would like to hear some solutions from them. La Malfa doesn’t have any plans released on cuts he would make. What are Republicans offering instead of “No.”
It just seems to me the only place they can ever find to cut is education, law enforcement and fire protection three things most of us all gladly pay taxes to have, which is how they end up getting tax increases. Maybe they can start having prison bonds instead of school bonds.
Princess, Things never change because the democrats have been in control of CA for decades.
Arnold was a Republican In Name Only. (RINO) He got elected because he was a celebrity and married to a Kennedy family member. In 2003 he beat Tom McClintock, who had the support of every GOP organization, in the gubernatorial election.
Even if we had a Republican governor hed be powerless with the democrats in control of the senate and assembly.
The way I see it is everything has shifted to the left. The old (JFK-type) democrat party changed to the progressive-left party and the republicans took the place of the old democrats. The Tea Party movement was formed by individuals who didnt like the shift left and the OWS movement was created to counter the Tpers.
The only time I remember major positive fiscal changes taking place on a national level was during Clintons last two years of his last term when the republicans were in control of congress and Clinton was willing to make major changes to Soc. Sec. and Welfare Reform.
State wise I remember nothing being done to help this state from going bankrupt. Nothing!
The mere fact we are a sanctuary state providing free education and medical care for millions of illegal immigrants should be realized by any sane person that everyone is going to have to pay through higher taxes for the salaries of thousands of teachers, school buildings, support staff, nurses, meds, doctors, , prisons, guards, etc., etc., etc.,.the list goes on and on.
No one that Im aware of is willing to work an 8-12 hour shift for free. So, the more free public service stuff we provide means a higher tax for everyone who pays taxes.
What are Republicans offering instead of “No.”
Why wont the Democrats try saying, No.
It just seems to me the only place they can ever find to cut is education, law enforcement and fire protection three things most of us all gladly pay taxes to have
No, education, police and fire fighters is not the only place cuts can and should be made. Cutting and freezing the high salaries of EVERY administrative public position should be #1 on the cut list. Top administrators salaries have doubled and tripled in the last 10 plus years. Weve talked about it before here on PS where presidents of CSUs are getting $400k a year plus huge benefits. City managers are ripping off whole communities and duplications of various departments, like job training, are a complete waste of our money.
President Nixon cut and froze jobs and salaries for EVERYONE in the public and private sector. (I was working at an electronic company had didn’t get my 5 cent an hour increase.) If Nixon was able to do it back in the 70s it should be done now by Brown for our state and by Obama for the nation.
Peggy: “Even if we had a Republican governor hed be powerless with the democrats in control of the senate and assembly.”
Arnold attempted to move the state to the right when he first went to Sacramento but he soon ran into the unbending will of the Democrat stronghold and gave up. He’s a businessman so I’m fairly confident that he knows what works but without the cooperation of the legislature he couldn’t win. After that his relationship with Hollywood probably became more important.
Republicans in the House pass legislation and Harry Reid refuses to even let it come to the floor for discussion.
Talk about the party of no. If these guys can’t have their way down to the tiniest jot they refuse to play and then blame Republicans. It’s so obvious now it’s become a joke.
I heard about a poll taken recently where the majority of Americans were in favor of tossing the whole Congress out…every one of them. I think it was in the 60% range. Buckly said he’d rather be governed by the first 12 people in the phone book or something like that. Most of us now would agree.
This country is being run into the ground almost exclusively by policies created by the progressives of the Democrat Party going all the way back to Wilson. There is no doubt that they have had the power to pursuade and pass a *%#&load of very expensive, alluring programs that accomplished two things: 1. Created dependency and 2. Bought them votes that ensured they could do more damage.
IT IS SO EASY TO GIVE PEOPLE THINGS!
It is much harder to ask people to provide for themselves, to work, save and invest to improve their own lives, to be charitable rather than asking government to do it for you, to make sure your kids grow up independent and strong.
Warning people that these expensive programs will not be sustanable falls on deaf ears…getting free stuff is so nice…until near depression hits. Can they hear us now?
Sadly for many the answer is still no.
When Americans’ freedoms are respected, and when they are allowed to be productive and keep most of what they earn, they can create a lot of wealth. In that abundant situation the states demands for taxes (from any citizen) need not be excessive to pay the bills. The problem is government is just too big: too many bureaucrats filling make work jobs and getting paid ridiculous salaries and bennies; too many laws and laws that are too complex; departments that are not needed; money spent on the administrators, gadgets and frivolous perks instead of the kids in the classroom…
It is such a lie that budgets can’t be cut and it is also a lie that more money will solve the problem.
Tina, As long as there are people who would rather remain children instead of growing up and being responsible for themselves and we have politicians buying their votes by promising to care of them we will be a dying country instead of the strong and healthy one we used to be.
Im not talking about those that cant work because theyre disabled, or children or the elderly Im talking about the ones we hear so much about that just want all the free stuff and Obama money. And of course the continued career politicians that lie and pander to the big buck supporter to get reelected.
At 11 years old I worked baby sitting, doing other people ironing and cleaned my uncles house so I could buy my own clothes and go to the movies and skate. Worked at Olen Mills studios all through high school and college and after my sons were born I still worked and started by own company. After my husband died in 1988 I didnt qualify for his widows benefits so I worked all the overtime at the college I could get and when my sons went to their colleges I got my real estate license and sold motorcycles on weekends.
I now have a small house (1500 sq ft) built in 1984, with a pool, in a working-class neighborhood and am pissed because I just received my second PGE notice telling me that I, used 7% more electricity than similar homes. I paid $10k for a new AC unit when I moved in and this notice is telling me to not use it but to use fans instead. I guess instead of being able to run the filter the recommended time to clean the pool Im supposed to use more chlorine which wont be good for skin, clothes and lungs.
I cant believe Im old enough to have grand kids and I feel like my dad is here asking me if I was born in a barn and making me put a nickel in the jar for leaving a light on. I dont need or want some business or the government telling me how to live and penalizing me when I dont live by their standards as if I was still living under my parents roof.
Ive worked hard since I was 11 and should be able to enjoy my senior years. Instead Im writing checks to the IRS and Franchise Tax board because what I paid in taxes during the year wasnt enough to support all of that free stuff everyone wants. And now my PGE bill is going up because that GE supplied smart meter says Im using more electricity living alone in my little house with a pool than the elderly couple next door with their three grown kids living with them who do loads of laundry and lots of cooking, but dont have a pool.
Every man, woman and child currently owes almost $50k for our national debt. It’s projected to almost double in my kids and grandkids life time. They have no idea how hard it will be for them to provide for themselves while paying for the current recipients free stuff. God help them God help our country.
Thanks for letting me vent!
Please, Peggy, feel free to vent at will! You represent a lot of voices all across America, and what an amazing life you have led.
You, and your story, should be at the back of the minds of politicians and bureaucrats daily as they go about the task of managing our money. Instead they have failed to show you proper respect, spending the money you earn, and they take, as if it came from their own private reserve. They have failed in their responsibility to taxpayers and they ahve failed as citizens of America, betraying the very foundations that make America unique in all the world. Our can do spirit, our independent pioneering way, has been sacrificed on the alter of do gooderism and ruined generations of citizens making them weak, needy and dependent. Innadequate schools ingested with progressive teaching and low expectations is a poor sustitute for what was once the best educational system in the world.
Not only have we worked hard, we saw our parents work hard to pull this country out of depression and war to make America the greatest success story the world had ever seen. Our parents took the freedom that was granted them and made America a place of incredible opportunity and innovation, of charity and good will.
You and I are together in our quest to reverse the long dismal progressive walk into darkness and to restore the blessings of liberty and prosperity to our children and grandchildren…and we are not alone!
