TownHall reports on the President’s plan for Title IX quotas in Math and Science:
President Obama recently signaled that he will take action to create ‘equality’ for women in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The Obama administration’s decision to push for more female representation in STEM coincides with the 40th anniversary of Title IX. Indications are that the Obama administration will implement a new Title IX quota through the Department of Education. Via the Competitive Enterprise Institute:
Quotas limiting the number of male students in science may be imposed by the Education Department in 2013. The White House has promised that “new guidelines will also be issued to grant-receiving universities and colleges” spelling out “Title IX rules in the science, technology, engineering and math fields.” These guidelines will likely echo existing Title IX guidelines that restrict men’s percentage of intercollegiate athletes to their percentage in overall student bodies, thus reducing the overall number of intercollegiate athletes.
Is there anything this president won’t do to buy a vote?
Women already outnumber men among college graduates. Restricting the number of men who are able to achieve in math and science will do nothing to further research and development in this area and it may well discourage men who might otherwise attend college from doing so. This is just more stupid pandering…has he no shame?

Of course he will continue to buy votes. He just undid the work requirement put into place for welfare recipients signed by Pres. Clinton. They will no longer have to enroll in classes and work to get their checks.

You’re right Peggy and this action is a double thumbs down for this president! Obama once again acting like a dictator and bypassing the legislature is one thumbs down. The fact that Welfare recipients can’t find a job even if they tried in the Obama economy is another thumbs down.
And don’t you love the positive spin in the abc headline? “Obama criticized for giving states more flexibility”…as if that was his intent.
Women are really stupid if they think a title IX program will make them more equal in math and sciences. Good grief ladies…do the work or shut up and sit down.
