Yikes! Occupy Goal: “Overthrow the Capitalist System…”

Posted by Tina

The Occupy Movement has not gone away…they are organizing.

And what is their immediate goal? According to former Amalgamated Transit Union local 689 president Mike Golash, the goal is, “overthrowing capitalism in the United States and instituting a communist government.”

The Daily Caller has the scoop:

“Progressive labor is a revolutionary communist organization,” Golash said during an Occupy DC “People’s Assembly” on August 19.

“Its objective,” he added, “is to make revolution in the United States, overthrow the capitalist system and build communism.”

Golash said he and his comrades are “trying to learn something from the historical revolutions of the past: the Russian revolution, the Chinese revolution, the revolutions in Cuba and Eastern Europe.”

Watch the video:

Is it necessary to remind you, our faithful Post Scripts family, that President Obama, in addition to Nancy Pelosi and other Democrat leaders, applaud the Occupy anti-capitalist movement ? By now it should be quite clear that the leadership of the Democrat Party is grounded in Marxism and supported by those who advocate for taking from those according to their means to give to those according to their need. In America, the land of the opportunity including a free education through grade twelve, that would be code for using ones political power to garner votes by “spreading the wealth around”.

Time for them to GO!

The Occupy movement, like the Tea Party movement, has no official leaders or goals. I know several people involved in the OWS movement, and Communism is the last thing they want. You can’t use this one guy’s remarks to generalize about the whole movement–isn’t that what you complained about when that was done to the Tea Party?

  2. Post Scripts says:

Chris I think the problem stems from the fairly large number of people who see themselves as part of a socialist movement while in OWS. Granted, most college age people tend to be left of center and that doesn’t make them a communist, but it does cause some concern on the right. People fear that it wouldn’t take much to push those folks into more extreme positions…like communism. But, I agree, we should be careful not to paint with a broad brush.

I had hoped with all the failures of communism around the world people in this country would be smart enough to know what a terrible system it is, but I have over estimated once again.

Chris: “You can’t use this one guy’s remarks to generalize about the whole movement…”

Actually I didn’t intend to. I do know that this guy and Bill Ayers are both involved and definitely pushing a Marxist agenda.

But the greater point is the support coming from the leadership of the Democrat Party. Also the policy positions of the Democrat Party, which reflect the same Marxist philosophy.

“…isn’t that what you complained about when that was done to the Tea Party?:

The Tea Party was accused of being a racist organization without evidence that it was. There is no video or transcript of a Tea Party activist going on about segregating the masses or the inferiority of other races.

I am not “complaining”, by the way. I am sounding the alarm. I take this very seriously and I think others should too. This country is not a Marxist nation…it is a conservative nation and I want to keep it that way:

PRINCETON, NJ — Americans’ political ideology at the midyear point of 2011 looks similar to 2009 and 2010, with 41% self-identifying as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 21% as liberal.

If this pattern continues, 2011 will be the third straight year that conservatives significantly outnumber moderates — the next largest ideological bloc. Liberalism has been holding steady for the past six years, averaging either 21% or 22%, although notably higher than the 17% average seen in Gallup polling during the early to middle ’90s.

  4. marne bass says:

IN 1945, 90% of all wealth was controlled by individuals and families. Family farms were common. There was support from churches, neighbors and friends for things like health care, and welfare. since then the balance of wealth has migrated in an extraordinary way to the rich and corporate entities controlling 95% of all wealth in America by usurping ownership.

Should people be allowed to complain about this? Absolutely. Should those who seek a re-balancing of power in America be called communists? Absolutely not.

  5. Tina says:

marne I think you’re looking at this the wrong way.

In 1945 there were a lot of very wealthy families in the US. I’m sure you’ve heard of John D. Rockerfeller, Andrew Carnegie, The Vanderbuilts, Andrew Mellon, and Henry Ford? There are many more. Most made their fortunes in America from humble beginnings. Find a list here:

    http://www.neatorama.com/2008/07/09/10-richest-people-of-all-time-and-how-they-made-their-fortunes/

We live in the land of opportunity. Not everyone makes billions of dollars but most who seek work or a profession manage to create a comfortable life for themselves. If they are smart they also plan and save for the future and in this way build a nest egg. Some hit it big due to good fortune…others because they seek wealth…still others are content to have an average middle class life. In America anyone can build the life he wants with a little effort.

Why should we care that others have great wealth if we are happy? Wealth doesn’t make us happy or content. Most people are willing to settle for a little security.

Also wealth can be created. We aren’t limited by a single pie that has to be divided. We can make new pie so it doesn’t matter how much someone else has.

What does it mean that the wealthy “control” 95% of the wealth? It means that they have invested their wealth in companies, in bonds, in commodities and in banks. they spend it on things that people make…clothing, vacations, yachts, furs, jewelry, furniture, and dinners out. All of those things put people to work…JOBS are created because the wealthy invest. If you have opportunity does it matter that you don’t have control?

You can complain…or you can realize you live in the most wonderful country in the world where you can roll up your sleeves and with a little planning and effort create the life you want.

The man featured in this article is seeking the overthrow of capitalism to be replaced with communism as a goal for the occupy movement. His stated goal:

“overthrowing capitalism in the United States and instituting a communist government.”

Are those who wish to force redistribution of wealth through the power of our government communist? Yes…they are following the tenets of Marx!

    And that’s NOT AMERICA!

Take a look at this page (see graphs):

    http://solutions.powersimsolutions.com/Ranking/HistoricalPerspective.aspx

Helped by the strong overall creation of wealth in the US, the absolute amount of net worth for each wealth bracket has increased over time, even if the relative share of wealth continues to be distributed very unevenly in favor of the rich.

About 1/3 of US household had a net worth of less than $50,000 (red plus orange bars in Graph) as of year-end 2005. About 18% had a net worth of less than $5,000 (red bars in the graph).

From 1965 to 2005 the portion of US households having a net worth in excess of $100,000 grew from 30% to nearly 50%.

The portion of US Households reaching the Million Dollar Club grew from a mere 1% in 1965 to an estimated 9% as of year-end 2005.

Similarly, the portion of households with a net worth in excess of $250,000 grew from 6% to about 33% during the 40-year period from 1965 to 2005.

Considering that the US population grew by over 100 million (from 194 million to 296 million) during the period 1965 to 2005, the number of family members living in a household with a net worth of more than $250,000 increased nearly 10-fold from about 11.6 million in 1965 to nearly 100 million today.

    Lessons

While it may be true that the rich get richer, this graph shows that the poor are getting richer too. The downwards sloping dividers between wealth brackets demonstrate that the trickle-down effect does work in the long run and that the United States gets richer as a whole, not just as a few wealth individuals.

Since 2005 American have lost a lot of their wealth, including many of the wealthier Americans. Much of it was due to government intervention and policies designed to redistribute wealth.

Obama has not managed the recovery well at all but with better leadership we will rise again to become the land of opportunity. May I suggest some reading:

…look around and ponder the amazing
things and opportunities that entrepreneurs and businesses
have given the world during the last 200 years. Just look around at the health, the wealth, the technologies, the opportunities, and the food on your plates. Could any of that have been possible for a king or a queen 200 years ago?

We are blessed in this country. You are blessed to live here. I’d tell you to quit complaining and learn how to grow your own pie but…I’m not sure you’d listen. I do think your probably smart enough to figure this out on your own with a little effort.

Thanks for joining us in our discussion. Live long…and prosper!
