This is a prime example of the how far left Liberal politics work during this administrations tedious tenure. It is not what you (voters) say, because that is nonessential to our plans(Obama)as much what we(Obama)will tell you what you need to say, and as many times as it takes! Remember the number 47544?

  2. Chris says:

That was absolutely shameful. Neither political party should have either of these issues in their platforms. Both of them are beyond our ability to control. And it is obvious there was no clear majority vote on either side. What a ridiculous process–whoever shouts the loudest in a gigantic crowd wins? That’s how they are going to decide what goes in their national platform? I for one am outraged.

  3. Post Scripts says:

Chris, on that we can agree. It was very poorly done. What’s strange is that nobody seems to know who introduced this to the committee in the first place? A 20 second consult with the Obama election team would have had it pulled. It should have been obvious to leave well enough alone. They are in the heart of the Bible Belt…pulling, “God given talents” out of the platform was a stupid idea that served no purpose other than to rile people up.

God wants nothing to do with democrats either, enjoy the heat.

I agree this is strange. It has been said that it points to a very poorly run convention. The platform should have been approved by the President (head of the party)…was it or was he left out of the loop? I say we’ll never know for sure but what is spectacularly obvious is that this split in the delegates will translate in the base to one side being discouraged by the process and the decision. Will some of them stay home rather than vote? Quite likely at least a few will judging from the anger of that one man who stood and yelled very loudly.

  6. Post Scripts says:

    Well said Toby! lol

  7. Chris says:

Jack and Tina, the AP and other sources are reporting that the decision was made by President Obama himself:

“Obama intervened directly to get the language changed both on Jerusalem and to reinstate God in the platform, according to campaign officials who insisted on anonymity to describe behind-the-scenes party negotiations. They said Obama’s reaction to the omission of God from the platform was to wonder why it was removed in the first place.”

Heres what youll find on the front of the major national newspapers today. It does not appear that newsworthy to most:
The New York Times: Its front page has no mention of the incident, and instead splashes a large picture of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama hugging. The incident is mentioned in a story on page A 14.
The Washington Post: It has no mention on the incident on its front page. A story about the incident is carried on page A10 and does not mention the booing or the God reference in the platform.
USA Today: Their front page teases the story with, Jerusalem, God added to platform, 6A.
The story can be read here though it focuses exclusively on the Jerusalem part of the controversy.
The Wall Street Journal: Their front page teases the incident in their Whats News column, The Democrats return language in their platform calling Jerusalem Israels capitol. The story is here.
On the front pages of the other major newspapers youll find:
The Boston Globe: One of the few that does feature the incident on its front page, with a story by Bryan Bender, Under fire, Democrats revise plank on Jerusalem.
The Chicago Tribune: Their front page has no reference to it.
The Newark Star-Ledger: Their front page has no reference to it.
The Dallas Morning News: Their front page has no reference to it.
The Philadelphia Inquirer: Their front page teases the story with Platform changed for God and Jerusalem, A6.
The Los Angeles Times: Their front page has no reference to the incident.
The Detroit News: Their front page has no reference to it.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal: Their front page has no reference to the incident.
The San Francisco Chronicle: Their front page has no reference to the incident.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer: Their front page teases a story Platform changes: Embarrassed by Republicans, Democrats amend their convention platform to add a mention of God and to declare that Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, Details, A5.
The Miami Herald: The Florida paper gives the incident major play on their front page, with a story titled, Backlash over party platform on Israel, by Erika Bolstad and Marc Caputo.

I got that information too Chris. However I’m interested in the time before last night.

I would think that the committee tasked with writing the platform would submit it to Obama for his approval long before convention night so that changes could be made if necessary. It’s a little hard to believe that Obama wasn’t involved in an important document that represents his leadership and the official party position.

The interesting point to me is why would the committee remove something that has been included in past years and that would cause such contention and division in the party?

This convention screw up indicates that A. Obama didn’t care or wasn’t kept in the loop, B. Somebody was hoping to pull a fast one, C. This party is very disorganized/incompetent, or ?????

One thing that stands out in the video…America has never witnessed a convention in which approximately half of it’s members booed God. Now, they may have been protesting the process but it certainly looks bad either way.

  10. Toby says:

I love that the DNC took a big steaming dump on the delegates. I think they should call in the UN poll watchers, that vote was totally fraudulent.
That was one hell of a football game last night. Go Cowboys!

Obama minions: Gov’t ‘can override your religion’
Court brief says corporations not allowed to reflect faith of their owners

The Obama administration today argued in court that the government can make a requirement that violates religious beliefs and that a company cannot reflect the religious faith of its owners.

The administrations statements came in a court filing that asserts the federal government has the authority to order private companies to provide abortifacients for their employees.
