There are people who vehemently hate politics and there are people who live, eat, sleep and breath politics. They both have their reasons for their strong opinions, some well founded, but as far apart as these two sides may be, they do have one thing in common. They both know politics matters.

Politics matters so much we spend billions on political parties, issues and candidates every year. It matters so much we have nasty arguments…even with our friends and family. This is the reason why campaigns get ugly. It’s why we spend so much on political ads, on campaign managers, on consultants and even pollsters. This is a very important business and like it or not…politics matters.

Where it really matters most: The most important part of politics is not the top, it’s the bottom, It’s the city and county elections and it’s y-o-u. It’s the small political clubs, it’s the county party and you… the voter. Sounds cliche’ I know, but there is power here and it’s about time you realized it and acted on it.

Grass roots politics: We call them the grass roots because everything in politics has a beginning somewhere and more often than not, it’s rooted in local politics! The issues that affect your the daily lives all begin here..with you and grass roots political movements.

Political Leverage: Did you know a phone call is weighted at 3 votes, a letter to politicians is rated at about 5 votes? Imagine that a stack of letters carries a lot of weight with your elected official! A formal political club or PAC is valued about 10 to 1. In other words if the club has 60 members to a politician they are looking at 600 votes, because that’s how power a clubs influence is on their friends and family in the community. That’s a lot of clout!

No matter what party you belong to, what matters is that you have the right reasons for being involved. If your motives are honest, then you can take pride in what you’re doing. The more you do – the more you matter, it’s that simple.

Never lose sight of the fact that you really do have power in politics – use it, but use it wisely.
