Coping with Protest – Hollywood Leads the Way

Posted by Tina

The big shot star power elites in Hollywood have always been strong supporters of free speech and expression. They spit contempt whenever anyone brings up the subject of censorship. But when Obama says a Muslim movie caused Muslim mayhem artists in Hollywood tow that line!

Bette Midler has come out in support of Obama excuse making by calling for prosecution (censorship + prosecution+ blacklisting) of the obscure film maker:

Bette Midler cast aside freedom of speech earlier this week by saying the filmmaker responsible for the anti-Muslim movie in the news should be charged with murder.

Midler isn’t alone in shoving aside the First Amendment.

Both hip hop mogul Russell Simmons and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” musician Questlove are siding against free speech. When you’re an unabashed supporter of President Barack Obama, party loyalty trumps the right to create, apparently.

Ordinary citizens may be confused…Andrew Klavin at PJ Media offers help:

Andrew Klavin: How to Behave During an Islamic Massacre

Klavin has a point. Filmmaker Bill Maher bashed the Muslim religion for twenty minutes at the end of his film, “religulous”. There have been no Muslim uprisings as a result and to my knowledge no calls for his arrest and prosecution. In fact he is regularly applauded and rewarded with laughter. The President had nothing to say about it being unhelpful.

Which reminds me…if the film was responsible for inciting anger how does it help the situation that his mouthpieces are all over the networks insisting that the movie is to blame for the protests…the movie made them murder our ambassador! Might as well invite them to continue. And why does the administrations story conflict with others out of the ME?

Daily Mail reports officials in Libya warned US officials three days before the attack on the embassy:

A Libyan security officer has claimed that he warned American diplomats about the possibility of violent unrest three days before the attack on the U.S. consulate which left the ambassador dead along with three others.

The country’s president also says that the deadly raid in Benghazi was ‘pre-planned’ by Al Qaeda and other ‘foreigners’.

However, the U.S. has hit back at that suggestion, with a top diplomat insisting the attack was ‘a spontaneous – not a premeditated – response’ to violence elsewhere.

Then there’s this, but warning, the site contains video with graphic content:

Lies, confusion and doubt…a little laughter with Klavin helps but ultimaely we have to sort it out before November and decide whether we give a damn about our freedom and security.

Oh boy, if you could see me now… I am on the floor bowing before my computer screen!

I am smiling and chanting (all in my mind of course)…Thank you Andrew Klavan – Thank you Andrew Klavan – Thank you Andrew Klavan – this is so brilliant, the man is a genius of wit and truth. He’s said everything I’ve been saying for years and he summed it up so completely! Wow, this video was over the top excellence! It should be mandatory viewing for every kid in the 6th thru 12th grade. It should be mandatory to write an essay on it before getting a high school diploma. I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! -Jack

    Chris? Where’s Chris… he’s got to see this…

This whole kerfuffle has raised some seriously complex issues re free speech and the internet.

Make no mistake, all manner of “social” forces will manifest against poor porn producer. His loans will be called in. He will find it VERY difficult to obtain financing for further ventures. His taxes will be audited. His assets will be thoroughly inspected by the appropriate agencies. The man is toast, economically speaking.

But the product? I’m inclined to let it stay online. Some are calling it akin to hollering fire in a burning building, which is not permitted. But I don’t agree. It’s a ludicrous thing. Only someone of dubious intellect could take it seriously, let alone be offended. And we can’t be constraining our free (more or less) and open (well, to reasonable degree) society to conciliate morons.

That Hezbollah guy is just gonna have to learn to chill.
