Life in Southern Israel as Rockets Fly from Gaza

Video and Images like those in the video below will not widely shown on CNN or other networks that support the leftist position of peace through appeasement and more often than not blame Israel for the conflict. Neither will images of Israeli soldiers helping Palestinian children to a place of safety act as reminders of the humanity shown to innocent Palestinian people. But you can see the image of soldiers helping children at Powerline; the blog that posted the following video:

People living in the border regions have only a minute to run for a shelter when the sirens begin to wail signaling incoming rockets. It is a stressful way to live; the Israelis have lived this way for decades.

Ronald Reagan believed that Israel and the West could create a defense system that would stop the rockets of aggressor nations. His detractors laughed and derided him for his crazy pie in the sky dream, calling it “star wars”…har-dee har…har.

As it turns out, Reagan’s vision for missile defense proved to be both possible and a life saving defensive tool. Israeli citizens have been kept safer under their “star wars” missile defense system, Iron dome, as 846 rockets were launched from Gaza in the past week:

According to the Israeli Embassy in Washington: “In the last 4 days: 544 rockets fired from Gaza hit Israel + 302 Iron Dome interceptions = 846 rockets fired at us.” The fact that only 302 of 846 rockets were intercepted (36 percent) might indicate that Iron Dome is ineffective. But in fact it is expressly designed to ignore rockets headed for uninhabited areas. Israeli officials say that 90 percent of the attempted interceptions have worked, thus providing critical protection for civilian areas including Tel Aviv, where an Iron Dome battery has just been moved.

At least 35 deaths have occurred in Gaza, including leaders of the terror organization Hamas, as a result of Israels retaliation. Israel has superior power and defense systems. The militants in Gaza are supported by Iran and The Muslim Brotherhood. They have time and an endless supply of their own people to sacrifice for the cause of wiping Israel off the map and establishing a world wide caliphate. Like water wearing on rock the terror aggression continues…there is no peace for anyone when the waring party lacks a basic reverence or respect for human life. Three deaths were reported in Israel; militant rockets reached Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Can’t wait until Israel goes in and kicks some butt. The rats firing those rockets deliberately hide behind human shields,. They are asking for a fight and I hope they get it. Israel has showed incredible restraint… but, “there is no peace for anyone when the waring party lacks a basic reverence or respect for human life.”

The Palestinians teach their children from birth to hate the Jews…it’s sick. They praise suicide bombers. They extol the virtues of killing Jews…sick, sick, sick…

If they pulled this crap in Roman times we would be talking about Palestinians in the past tense.

This week once more we question the need of why the United States should stick its neck out to help Israel. Many forget that Americas pro-Israel policy advances vital practical and strategic goals.
The United States has always (prior to Obama) looked to Israel as a monument of democracy and stability in a region wheres theres been little of either. Even critics of our pro-Israel policy concede that we get invaluable intelligence from the Mossad. Israelis know more about fighting terrorism than anyone else and have top intelligence sources in every country in the Middle East — something our CIA only dreams about. After 9/11, the Israelis not only helped us detect and run down the likes of al Qaeda but also kept us informed of the spreading nuclear-arms race in the Muslim world.

The Israels also have 150,000 active-duty and half-million reservists of the Israeli military and have been our frontline of defense in conflicts in the past and should be treaded as allies for the future
Israel has pioneered much of the anti terrorist platforms starting with its daring raid at Entebbe Airport in 1976, the use of unmanned drones to knock out Soviet-built anti-aircraft systems in the 80s and even taught us to use our TOW guided munitions to smash tank attacks. When Israeli air force took out Saddam Husseins nuclear-weapons program in 1981 as well as Syrias budding nuclear facilities in 2007, they not only bought Israel time from gathering threats but also the rest of the world.
While Obama and Nato just talk and sanction Iran about its current Nuclear plants it may come to pass as Iran reaches its nuclear threat (and they will), the Israeli air force may have to do a repeat performance, at considerable cost themselfs while once more saving Washington from having to confront a dangerous strategic challenge.
All in all, thats a pretty fair return on a $2.5 billion annual investment, in contrast to the billions weve poured out to such far less helpful countries as Egypt or Pakistan — not to mention Iraq and Afghanistan.
The value of Israeli military to American interests even goes deeper. Its joint ventures with the US military have been essential in developing such high-tech missiles, drones and Tactical High Energy Laser systems. Israels defense industry excels in the kind of innovation, creativity and efficient just-in-time delivery thats too often missing from our own defense contractors and keeps both them and us on the leading edge of military technologies.
Our Patriot batteries protected Israel during the first Gulf War, now Israels new tested Iron Dome anti-missile system could become the system that protects American cities from possible terrorist missile threats in the future.
Israel is now the Start-Up Nation, a major player of innovative companies and breakthrough industries, from microchip design to medical technology to software and network algorithms. Israeli companies supply Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco and others with key technology.
So who needs Israel? We do. Our military and defense industries and even our biggest high-tech companies all depend on a strong and independent Israel. So if we abandon Israel now, it would be our worse modern mistake. To paraphrase the French diplomat Talleyrand, itd be our worst national blunder since Vietnam. In todays world of failing diplomacy why do we feed our enemies and starve those willing to support our ideals?

I understand the Iron Dome is already protecting some areas (facilities) along the West Coast.

Israel brings so much good to the world, in science, medicine, literature and the arts…it always astounds me that so few people are supportive.
