Obama’s Scandals Hurt Media Pals

Posted by Jack

The scandals of the Obama administration seem to be hurting not just the White House but MSNBC as well, while Fox News Channel has just scored its second-best week of the year. After double-digit gains during last year’s presidential election, May 13-17 saw the progressive-aligned “Lean Forward” news network hit new lows as the IRS scandal erupted and revelations that the Justice Department secretly obtained AP records became public. With 350,000 viewers on average and 94,000 in the adults 25-54 demo, MSNBC had its least-watched and lowest-rated total-day results of the year last week. That was also the lowest total-day demo result the network has had since the week of June 26-July 2, 2006, when MSNBC pulled in just 83,000 viewers among adults 25-54, according to Nielsen data.

This must be why Chris Matthews has been flip-flopping a little. Bet, he was told to get his ratings up if he wanted to keep his job.

    The thrill is gone…..

Politico reports that Sharyl Attkisson’s computer has been compromised. She first noticed this back in 2011 when she was investigating Fast and Furious and the President’s green energy spending practices. She is consulting with lawyers and her bosses at CBS before making a statement about how her computer was compromised. It was suggested that her situation was very similar to the way James Rosin’s computer (Fox News) was compromised.

The Washington Post reports on the outrage journalists in media are expressing over the targeting of James Rosen for investigation. He stands accused of being a “co-conspirator” in a security leak of classified information:

In the affidavit, FBI agent Reginald Reyes said Rosen “asked, solicited and encouraged Mr. Kim to disclose sensitive United States internal documents and intelligence information.” He added, “The reporter did so by employing flattery and playing to Mr. Kim’s vanity and ego.”

That detail particularly irked media lawyers and transparency experts, who said the Justice Department had crossed a line by equating routine reporting practices with possible criminal activity.

“Neither flattery nor an insistent tone rises to the level of a criminal offense,” Aftergood said.

Have any of the political zealots in the Justice Department ever heard of “deep throat”? Since when do we treat reporters who are doing their jobs by seeking information like criminals?

Meanwhile, the President knows nothing, nothing, and his approval rating among likely voters remains relatively strong at 47%.
