Walter E. Williams is wisdom… read and learn! He begins:
Individually, Americans do not deserve to be subservient to such a fear-mongering, intimidating and powerful agency as the Internal Revenue Service; but collectively, we do. Let’s look at it.
Since the 1791 ratification of our Constitution, until well into the 1920s, federal spending as a percentage of gross domestic product never exceeded 5 percent, except during war. Today federal spending is 25 percent of our GDP. State and local government spending is about 15 percent of the GDP. That means government spends more than 40 cents of each dollar we earn. If we add government’s regulatory burden, which is simply a disguised form of taxation, the government take is more than 50 percent of what we produce.
If we don’t like what the IRS is doing, and if we’re tired of a boom and bust economy where government consumes about 50% of what we earn as a people, we need to elect those who are committed to reducing the size of the big federal bureaucracy.
The recent IRS shenanigans are a good reason to scrap the unintelligible tax code – and the IRS’s thuggish behavior – in favor of a flat tax.
Given the number of folks on the goofernment dole that DON’T pay any taxes, that would only be fair. And don’t we keep hearing about “fairness” from the Prez?
Anyone campaigning on a “Boot the IRS” platform in 2014 should win in a walk.
It has to be much higher for those that were targeted by the IRS. The last number I heard were hundreds targeted, but more were coming forward. Just thinking of the lose of worker’s time and productivity cost to complete all of the forms and respond to the hundreds of questions had to have a negative financial impact on the groups and organizations.
The legal cost incurred during their attempts to comply has to be factored in and now with the lawsuits being filed against the IRS the legal fees will be astronomical.
Hopefully, we’ll learn also just how many gave up after their first IRS audit, FBI visit or OSHA inspection.
Looks like the FBI targeting the Gibson Guitar Company could also fall under the growing political hit list by this administration. Gibson’s legal cost is $2.4 million so far. Added to their loss of sales I hope they can keep their doors open and producing one of the best guitars ever made and still being made in the USA.

PARIOTIC GIBSON GUITAR CO. RAIDED BY FEDERAL AGENTS IN AN ILLEGAL ACTION AUTHORIZED BY THE JUSTICE DEPT.:
“In an interview this morning on FOX NEWS, the CEO of Gibson Guitar Company reported the Company had three factories raided by armed guards accompanied by Federal agents of the FBI and authorized by Eric Holder.
They seized all of the guitar making materials in their Company’s warehouses, corralled the employees outside to the parking lots, removed all their stock and left the warehouses virtually empty. There were no charges filed against the Company to date and no legal explanation for it.
The company has had to replace all of the parts and exotic woods used to make their musical instruments at an unexposed cost, due to still replacing the goods.
The legal costs to the Gibson Company in trying to protest the raids, are currently determined to be at 2.4 million dollars so far.
Gibson Guitar Co. did not participate in donations to the Obama campaign in the past, while other guitar Co.’s whose guitars are made in China today, apparently did.” Con’t.

Whoa, Jack. I just checked out the federal budget pie chart for 2013 … which has defense at 23% and pensions at 24%.
We could, oh so easily halve both, but are you sure you want to do that?
This is a disgraceful abuse of power and the President’s attitude, that he just wasn’t aware of any of it is just pathetic. And his latest big move is to have Holder investigate Holder:
Nation, Fox news, from a Daily Caller report:
This is unprecedented…and profoundly theatrical…black comedy.
I want to know how many similar leftist organizations were ever targeted in such fashion or denied for more than six to ten weeks…there are hundreds of them supported by Soro’s Tides Foundation alone!
