Last week the Supreme Court brought an end the decades old Voting Rights Act of 1965 that restricted certain states from changing their voting laws and districts without federal approval. The ruling marks a welcome acknowledgement that America has come a long way since the harsh discrimination of the past. In the early 1960’s the justified cry from minorities and whites was for justice and equality. But we’ve come a long way since the times when a dignified but oppressed minority demanded to be treated as equals and afforded the same opportunity and respect as any other human being. Today’s minority leaders demand retribution, redistribution and at times revenge. Trouble is the men and women of America that have for decades bent over backward to make amends have grown weary of the continuous drumbeat that blames society today for the sins of our ancestors. Equality is not a pile of unearned advantages. Equality means every individual is required to meet challenges head on and work hard to accomplish goals. Equality is accepting setbacks and barriers and determining to work through them. Equality is realizing that not every person is born with a silver spoon in his mouth and that fate, or God, has determined the particulars of birth for each of us. Equality is accepting the full responsibility of being human. So yes, the Supreme Court decision was a welcome sign that every American has opportunity today.
Unfortunately America has elected a President that is determined to lead in the direction of retribution, redistribution, and revenge.
Investors.com informs while sycophants in media continue to provide cover for Barack Obama:
To boost minority hiring, the EEOC recently warned employers they could be considered guilty of “race discrimination if they choose law-abiding applicants over applicants with criminal convictions.” The predictable result: hiring quotas for felons.
At the same time, the Labor Department is warning federal contractors to refrain from asking employees about felonies.
It’s also demanding they modify their hiring policies to favor minorities.
The agency also advised that all FDIC-insured banks must develop and implement an “affirmative action program” for hiring. The administration, moreover, has adopted an interagency “Policy Statement on Discrimination in Lending” that makes it “permissible” (and strongly advisable) for banks to apply more favorable lending terms for minority borrowers “to address past discrimination.”
It has also formalized the use of a lower standard of proof — “disparate impact” liability — for enforcing anti-discrimination laws in housing and lending.
Now, just about any race-neutral policy or practice — from mortgage underwriting standards to credit scoring to criminal background checks — can be deemed racist if it tends to result in adverse outcomes for blacks or Latinos.
For the first time, disparate impact is woven through all civil-rights enforcement of the federal government.
Thanks to a flurry of disparate-impact suits, the Justice Department has forced the nation’s largest home lenders — including Wells Fargo, Bank of America and SunTrust — to adopt minority-friendly lending policies and even open new branches in depressed areas with large minority populations.
Fearing prosecution, the entire mortgage industry is adopting similar policies. In addition, the department has extracted from these and other bank defendants more than $600 million in loan set-asides and other cash payouts for yet-to-be identified “victims” of credit discrimination.
Meantime, Obama’s new credit watchdog agency, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, is subjecting car lenders to the same racial “effects test” while investigating racial bias at Equifax, Experian, TransUnion and other consumer credit reporting agencies.
This is just the first page of a three page article outlining the bully tactics this administration is using to force reverse discrimination and redistribution throughout American institutions and business. This is not a policy of equality but of revenge. President Obama and Eric Holder have fashioned a plan to punish whitey through acts of overt oppression that represents the same disgraceful attitudes America has fought so hard to end.
The Civil rights Act introduced an era when so many wonderful people saw the opportunity and were willing to grab it. They pressed hard through obstacles, to provide a better future for their children and through hard work, personal savings and investment they achieved the American Dream. They achieved true equality, and they have taught their children the valuable lessons needed for true equality…to face down all adversity through the dignity and pride of accomplishment. Perhaps along the way they have even discovered that adversity does not recognize skin color; that every person has difficult challenges and prejudices to overcome.
I hope these fine people will also come to realize that revenge will do nothing for minorities in America but will instead create a wall of division higher than ever before and a deep divide that America may not survive. The policies that this administration is forcing on America are a poison administered by radicals seeking revenge. However hopeful America may have been in electing its first black president it is clear this president will disappoint, leaving behind a legacy of racism, economic failure, and shame, as a destroyer. It does not please me in any way to make this observation; it sickens me. This is a major problem for all Americans. A problem we must face together as a united front standing for decency, respect, honor and equality.
