I like the tough language the President is using in Africa against greedy, murderous tyrants. But our President has undermined his own power to influence in the world on the subjects of freedom and the economy. Unfortunately he has established himself as a soft tyrant in terms of his leadership. Too bad, America was once a beacon for freedom and our presidents respected around the world:
US President Barack Obama warned on Sunday that Africa could only fulfil its rising potential with leaders who serve their people, not tyrants who enrich themselves. In a strident call for democratic change and good governance, Obama used the political legacy of ailing Nelson Mandela and South Africa´s emergence from grim years of apartheid as proof that freedom will ultimately prevail.(snip)He also condemned the rule of Robert Mugabe in neighbouring Zimbabwe, where he said the “promise of liberation gave way to the corruption of power and the collapse of the economy”. (emphasis mine)
Yes, yes, I know…Obama isn’t a murderer! But the promise of liberation (freedom) giving way to the “corruption of power” and the “collapse of the economy”? He’s standing on a a base of shifting sands on that one!
This president has abused the power of the presidency to bypass Congress. He has encouraged his “czars” and secretaries to push a political agenda. His IRS has abused power to silence and marginalize political opponents prior to an election. His Justice Department is a political arm of his administration and represents as a biased arbiter of the law rather than as blind lady of justice. His EPA is issuing regulations that put energy companies out of business for a green agenda. He has wasted tax dollars on unsound technology, failing business, and new entitlement programs and promotion of that program. He has spent taxpayer dollars to aid and abet enemies of western nations while insulting our allies. His failing economic polices affect nations all across the globe and he refuses to change course.
America could use a real leader right now, a leader that stands firmly behind our values of freedom, capitalism, justice and equality. Our economy is desperate for policy that improves the economic outlook and restores economic health and opportunity for middle and lower class workers!
Get with the American brand, sir! America is about freedom! America is about individual opportunity and success! We need a leader dedicated to the values we hold dear…and leadership based on service…you have veered quite far from that path!
