Good News: Nepalatano Steps Down – Bad News: Will Head UC System

Posted by Tina

California just took another hit. If I didn’t know better I’d think the extremists in the Democrat Party were bailing for the west coast because it’s the only place in America that will accept them. Read it and weep:

Janet Napolitano, the U.S. secretary of Homeland Security and former governor of Arizona, is being named as the next president of the University of California system, in an unusual choice that brings a national-level politician to a position usually held by an academic, The Times has learned. Her appointment also means the 10-campus system will be headed by a woman for the first time in its 145-year history.

Napolitano’s nomination by a committee of UC regents came after a secretive process that insiders said focused on her early as a high-profile, although untraditional, candidate who has led large public agencies and shown a strong interest in improving education.

UC officials believe that her Cabinet experiences — which include helping to lead responses to hurricanes and tornadoes and overseeing some anti-terrorism measures — will help UC administer its federal energy and nuclear weapons labs and aid its federally funded research in medicine and other areas.

Crap!

  1. J. Soden says:

Janet was a so-so Fed prosecutor. As an AZ Governor, she continually delayed paying the state’s bills, and the AZ voters were left with sticker shock when the bills finally had to get paid.

She’s a shining example that the Peter Principle is alive and well in Obumble administration.

And now she’s heading for CA? Oh, woe! Wonder if she’ll delay paying the bills for the university system like she did in AZ? A leopard doesn’t change its spots . . . . .

  2. Peggy says:

She’s leaving a job that paid $200k a year in DC for one in CA her predecessor got $500k, not including perks. Level of responsibility to be president over a bunch of college students, must be much higher than keeping our nation safe.

Once again CA will get what they deserve and the bill to boot.

This was definitely one of those good news bad news stories! Poor us.

      • Post Scripts says:

Life as bureaucrat just keeps on getting better and better for this liberal. But, what a trial of disasters is in her wake. It makes absolutely no sense that she should in charge of anything except a mop and a bucket.

  3. Harold Ey says:

    Milton Friedman put it best:
If you put Janet Napolitano in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there’d be a shortage of sand.
Well he sort of said that, what he said was ‘Federal Government’, but todays Government are these types of people!

  4. Tina says:

And that’s the truth, Harold! It’s one of those natural truths that apply to all liberal policies. People should never be allowed to spend other people’s money; they just don’t care about it like the people who earn it do…eventually they feel entitled to spend OPM and then they think it belongs to them. We’re there now.

Wouldn’t it be glorious if waste and spenders were relegated to the mop and bucket brigade for their economic and budgeting misfeasance.
