Just a few thoughts to share… the liberal run Chico Homeless Task Force that is funded in part by taxpayer money has been a total flop so far. Not surprised are you?
The “bums-by-choice” population has not been subject to the kindly influence of roaming Ambassadors spreading the love. And they (task force) are still focused on spending other people’s money to build daycare centers and expand the homeless shelters!
The police department has looked for every possible way it could not be helpful and by all accounts they’ve been extremely successful in that regard. When understaffed and overworked, dealing with bum stuff is not a priority. However, by disguising their true sentiments and taking the PC approach they convince the liberals and the liberal council of their warmest sympathies and concerns for the homeless while avoiding (as much as humanly possible) any related police work..a win-win for the police dept. But, who can blame them? I’m just pointing out reality and that they’re really not fooling anyone except the liberals and that’s hardly a challenge. Which reminds me of a joke… Q: What do you call liberals with an IQ of 130? A: A foursome.
The consensus from people I’ve talked with (who were never part of the problem and 100% not liberal) seem to think the so-called homeless population is more a migrant population that ebbs and flows and basically they come here for the free stuff. Some stay on to be mischaracterized by the task force as needy locals down on their luck and in need of daycare centers. Daycare centers… why not a spa too?
The (normal) people think the only controllable factor that is contributing to the homeless population is the number of places that give away all the free stuff. They feel the true number of local people that had an unfortunate run of bad luck that left them homeless is insignificant compared to the bums-by-choice crowd.
The task force is in strong denial of what are the real magnets for bums and that has kept them stuck on stupid. At this point I see their role as something that can only exacerbate the bum problems. Unfortunately, this wrong course will eventually dilute the total aid available to Chico’s real needy, that actually deserve some temporary assistance that is not provided by welfare grants or unemployment insurance.
As you know, the job of the PS is to bring helpful information and thereby help taxpayers get the most bang for their tax-buck, but trying to educate the defiantly-ignorant on our council is probably not going to be anymore productive than the roaming ambassador program. I think we need to focus on how we can get rid of the rascals. Voters must come to know that Chico’s current economic crisis and all the blundering over decades can be directly linked to the liberals on the council and it’s time to name names and hold them responsible through a voter outreach effort.
Get rid of the dolts on the council and you will see the bum population start to evaporate along with a lot of other problems.
Let’s hope they didn’t send a “welcome” flyer to the 10,000 convicted felons soon to be released. Wonder how our police chief and council are planning to handle them.
Phoenix, San Diego, Oceanside and other cities have found – to their dismay – that more and more freebies for the bums result in more and more bums.
And when they cut the freebies, the bums moved elsewhere. Pretty simple, no? But probably too simple for some of the morons who make the decisions.
Perhaps those who want to provide those freebies should invite the bums into their home. That way, they can give out as much as THEY can afford.
