More Stabbin in Chico – 36th and 37th of the Year

by Jack

You can almost predict right to the day when the next stabbing will occur, it happens to regularly, just like clock work. Now even the women are getting in on the stabbing. CHICO — A woman was stabbed in an alley at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, and police are looking for three Hispanic women. In a press release, Chico Police said the woman was walking alone on Fairway Alley, which runs behind Mangrove Avenue around Fifth Avenue.

Late last night Chico PD responded to a reported stabbing of a 20 year old transient male in the downtown plaza. He was taken to Enloe hospital. He was unable or unwilling to tell police who stabbed him or even what they looked like. The downtown plaza has become a mecca for bums and young transients because it is only a few blocks from the nearest bum shelter on Park Ave.

In other news…A 46-year-old man was sentenced to seven years in state prison for stabbing a man at a Chico fraternity party in 2011.

Are you all loving what Chico has become? You should call your city council people and express your thoughts, they would love to hear from you.

If I can make it there
    I’ll make it anywhere
    It’s up to you

Man…I hung in to the end, Pie. What a horrid person.

I think I’d (almost) rather be stabbed than have to listen to that again…and the poor guy with the trumpet just took it.

  3. Harold says:

So far IMHO, about the only one showing real concern about these stabbings is Jack.Where is the Council on issues as palatinate to our well being as this. I have not heard a single motion at the City Council meetings about this dangerous problem.
Its time to put aside time wasted on the attack of plastics bags and bed bugs, or even wet housing (which may increase these attacks) and turn to the necessity of providing Chico’s citizenry with some fundamental basic protection.
If its a budget issue, then Chico need to consider selling off some of the Bidwell Ranch development land that sits in perpetual uselessness and is major contributor toward of lack of funds in Chico for even the Budget Basics. Put the Police force back to maximum strength and stop this problem.

  4. Libby says:

Harold, I think you’re mis-reading the situation. Both these incidents arose among people who knew each other.

This is frequently the case, and why you can get neither the cops nor the public too excited about it.

I’m am not happy that we seem to have cultivated a subset of the population that handles disputes in this manner, but the sorts of things that would prevent, or at least reduce, this sort of thing: universal daycare, all day school, summer camp for everybody (they learn this crap from their parents; you gotta get ’em away from their parents) … these are things we will not pay for.

And if the subset nails an occasional bystander, well that’s the price we pay.

  5. Tina says:

There’s a good reason we “will not pay for them” Libby. They have proven to be ineffective when government run and especially since the people who run them exist in the socialist bubble that excuses bad behavior and places blame on everything but the individual.

You can’t rehab people by enabling them.

Organizations like the salvation Army have a much better track record.

Also when the culture encourages the behavior with no push back…you end up with NFL players making millions of dollars with seven baby mamas whose children he never sees.

    Liberalism has created this culture.

  6. Princess says:

Pretty sad when I figure it is safer to go out to dinner in Oroville than in downtown Chico.

  7. Harold says:

Libby writes: Harold, I think you’re mis-reading the situation.
Really? now that you have explained it, in such a pathetically accepting way, lets not do anything, and just ignore it until it goes away.
That way we send a direct message to the perpetrators of our lack of concern and they thus could be embolden to the point they seek out strangers as well.
Common sense does not seem to be in your realm of thinking.

  8. Libby says:

“You can’t rehab people by enabling them.”

Tina, I was proposing that well-fed, well-educated and thoroughly occupied children grow up to be … not members of the subset.

But this does not seem to be something that you can comprehend.

  9. Libby says:

“That way we send a direct message to the perpetrators of our lack of concern and they thus could be embolden to the point they seek out strangers as well.”

Well, you’d have to catch ’em first and, as you should also have gleaned from the reports, they don’t rat on each other. True individualists, these folk.

Trust me, a cop on every corner would not help. They’d be so bored, they’d take to harassing citizens … felons being, actually, few and far between.
