Over at The American Thinker Aleksey recounts his childhood and delivers a powerful lesson to the American people:
“They told us in Odessa, that in San Francisco it’s hard to find milk.”
This is the typical Soviet mentality, and they were used to it, and they bought into it, and then they entered that American supermarket and saw the rows upon rows of milk of different brands and kinds and fat percentages.
This is where some have been known to cry. It is the realization that their lives were stolen from them by the regime. A realization of what could’ve been, if they had been lucky enough to be born in this place which, from everything they knew, could not possibly exist.
I now live in Northern California, in the heart of the Bay Area, thousands of miles away from my homeland.
And yet the poison of Soviet propaganda seeps through college dorms just as it did in Soviet classrooms.
Please follow the link and read the entire piece. It carries a particularly powerful message for young people in this country who represent America’s future and who are being lured into believing that the socialist policies favored by Democrats, and often taught in our schools, will lead to more prosperity and fairness for everyone. As this essay reveals in startling clarity, the socialist model will not lead to anything but shared misery.
Aleksey’s parting advice, “Dear beautiful America, please, stop moving Forward.”
Beautiful article. I hope Chris and others of his age will read it and understand what will be their future if they don’t wake up.
This portion of the article sounded like what we’re dealing with here and now.
“Our propaganda put the big focus on the noble working class and how there was no such thing as a “lower” profession. Much emphasis was made on the nobility of simple working man, and certainly there is something to that.
But when the janitor receives roughly the same salary as a teacher who is paid roughly the same as a surgeon who is paid roughly the same as a programmer, all of them surrounded by peers who get paid the same no matter how well or poorly they perform, some people start carrying the team, and then they just give up. Everyone performs poorly in the end.
It was painfully obvious to everyone just how low the desire of the average person is to produce goods for other people. Without competition or opportunity to get ahead, with the state controlling production and paying equal salaries to workers regardless of their contributions, we had no concept of abundance.
With our “free” services, we regularly experienced water and electrical outages …”
Einstein once said, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’

Are the 10 Poorest U.S. States Really Republican?:
By Mark Hendrickson
“The more important factor is not the economic ranking of states at a point in time, but the overall trends. An important article by John Merline compared the economic performance of blue states and red states during the presidency of Barack Obama. The trend of economic indicators clearly favors Republican states. Democratic states have experienced lower growth in both jobs and income in the last few years. Home prices have fallen further in blue states, and their unemployment rates are higher. In other words, a dynamic economic analysis of the states casts a far more favorable light on Republican states than static analysis. Since real life is dynamic, not static, Republicans can make the stronger case about which party is best suited to lead the way to greater prosperity.
The most fundamental difference between the data that conservatives prefer—that the 10 poorest cities are longtime Democratic strongholds—and the data that liberals will be more inclined to cite—that the 10 poorest states are predominantly Republican, is that conservatives can point to actual policies that Democrats implemented that contributed to the impoverishment of the cities, while the liberals cannot point to specific GOP policies that have caused the poorer states to lag behind.
The Democratic case is illusory and circumstantial; the Republican case is solid and substantial. However, in a country where so many people are economically and historically illiterate, combined with the human proclivity whereby “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest” (Paul Simon, “The Boxer”), the Democrats may be able to score some points with a hollow argument. The Republicans, though, have the facts on their side.”

And here’s another one worth reading.
Economy: Blue States Worse Than Red Under Obama
By John Merline
“Barack Obama entered the national spotlight with a rousing 2004 Democratic convention speech that talked about how it was wrong “to slice and dice our country into red states and blue states.” Last week he reiterated the point in a tweet to his Twitter followers, saying that “there are no red states or blue states, just the United States.”
But when it comes to the economic recovery, there has been a clear difference. It turns out that blue states have done worse economically than have red states under President Obama, according to an IBD analysis of various government economic data.”

So, if I was a young person who needed to live someplace where I had a chance of providing for myself and my family I’d be checking out these states and cities before I moved them there.

And for those who won’t follow the link because that seems too sentimental or serious:
Read the entire thing…the guy is very funny!
I don’t think people from the left perspective believe it is this bad but its difficult to argue with those who have lived it.
And they really believe its possible to only become a little bit socialist. the problem is each new generation is born into the latest version and will just as easily be convinced that a little more couldn’t possibly hurt.
I don’t think the youth of America are going to be terribly impressed, really. The idea that having national health coverage is somehow going to lead to the nationalization of American auto-makers, sausage-makers, or any other maker, is really kind of stupid, don’t you think?
But it is true that every year, for the last several, my favorite German deli has stocked fewer and fewer goodies at Christmas … cause we’re not spending like we were, I suppose. And I suppose that’s because all the elderly Germans left in the neighborhood are obliged to hand way too much of their disposable income over the Big Pharma … a situation the ACA endeavors to address.
If you have some actual, alternate, plan, we’d be pleased to hear what it is.
But, fer heaven’s sake, will just stop denying that the situation exists … because it does.
“Read the entire thing…the guy is very funny!”
Indeed. I highly recommend his book as well.

Also from the interview:
“First of all American super-market, my first visit was under CIA supervision, and I thought it was set-up; I did not believe super-market was real one.”
One of the things that has always stayed with me from his book is his description of what finally convinced him that it was all for real. He was allowed to observer flight operations on board a U.S. Navy carrier. Obviously the military was something he could relate to. When he saw all those 18 to 20 something year old sailors performing their jobs, he realized there was no way they could perform at that level of excellence unless they WANTED to.
