Income inequality is worse under Obama
The president is getting dangerously close to leaving a legacy of soaring corporate profits and slumping wages. Read the whole story on MSM Money – it’s very enlightening, well, not for conservatives…we knew this a long time ago, but Obama supporters are about to get a real education! lol
“soaring corporate profits and slumping wages”
And high unemployment.
Also more wealth is being accumulated by the wealthiest is the US, because of very low tax rates.
This is proof that trickle down economics doesn’t work.
These conditions are not supposed to happen under Democrat rule…wha?
Jim the wealth is being accumulated primarily because of lower rates in foreign countries. This means Americans are deprived not only of tax revenue that would flow from these big companies if they were doing business in America but also the JOBS.
The scenario that you describe is not a n example of trickle down. If you are going to criticize it you should at least know how it works and be prepared to tell us how Obama’s leftist alternative, big government, works better. So far it isn’t working and it isn’t working to a spectacular degree!
Art Laffer at CNS News
At this point I would hope that Americans of all political stripes could at least be willing to consider something that has worked and been supported by both Democrats and Republicans.
The current administration is made up of extremists and radicals who favor big government central planning policy. This puts all of the power in the hands of a few at the top. To keep their power they pick winners and losers, reward leftist pals in big business so they will continue to shower them with cash, do what they can to destroy and blunt individual business and personal wealth and success, and appeal to the young by showering them with freebies and handouts. it always leads to joblessness, loss in the middle class, and growth in poverty…yuck!
Income inequality is worse under Obama =/= Obama makes income inequality worse. Correlation does not prove causation.
Attn Occupy Clowns: It’s not Wall Street. If you really want to address the root of what Obumble has done to the country, your next sit-in should occur on the white house lawn.
Obviously written by a liberal.
“… raising the minimum wage (surprisingly, yes, Republicans do favor it).”
“Surprisingly?” Wonder who she or he is.
“Congress has recently shown some signs of compromise by finally managing to pass a budget.”
No mention the House passed budgets every year. It was Reid who refused to submit one to the Senators.
“The Last Time Senate Democrats Passed a Budget…
On May 16th, less than a month after our 3rd year without a passed budget, Democrats voted down FOUR Republican budget proposals, without even proposing an alternative.”

2013 – Senate passes $3.7 trillion budget, its first in 4 years.
“After an all-night debate that ended just before 5 a.m., the Senate on Saturday adopted its first budget in four years, a $3.7 trillion blueprint for 2014 that would provide a fast track for passage of tax increases, trim spending modestly and leave the government still deeply in the red a decade from now.”

Obama Misses Deadline Again Budget:
Jan. 25, 2014
“Once again, President Obama’s budget for the federal government will be late.
The White House said Thursday that Mr. Obama will deliver his fiscal 2015 spending plan on March 4, one month late. By law, the president is supposed to submit a budget to Congress on the first Monday in February.
Mr. Obama has only met that deadline once since taking office in 2009. Last year, he delivered his proposed budget on April 8, more than two months late.”

Obama Will Violate Budget Deadline Laws For 18th Time With Latest Filing:
“President Obama will miss a budgetary deadline set by law for the 18th time in his presidency, according to a summary of his record provided by Senate Republicans.
“The Office of Management and Budget recently announced that President Obama’s FY 2015 budget would be delivered to Congress on March 4, just over one month past the statutory deadline (which requires the President’s budget to be submitted by the first Monday in February),” explains a news release from Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee. “This will be the 18th occasion that the Administration has missed an in-law budget deadline.”
The announcement came on Friday. “Now that Congress has finished its work on this year’s appropriations, the administration is able to finalize next year’s budget,” the Washington Examiner’s Brian Hughes quoted OMB spokesman Steve Posner as saying. “We are moving to complete the budget as quickly as possible to help Congress return to regular order in the annual budget process.”
The history provided by Sessions’ staff notes that Obama will have missed every deadline to submit a budget in his presidency (with respect to 2009, though, the staffers note that “it is common for the incoming administration to miss the deadline for submitting a budget”).
Obama has never submitted a plan to control Medicare spending following a Medicare funding warning, though the law states that “if there is a Medicare funding warning … made in a year, the president shall submit to Congress, within the 15-day period beginning on the date of the budget submission to Congress under subsection (a) for the succeeding year, proposed legislation to respond to such warning.”
Such warnings have were issued and ignored in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Obama’s team has not submitted a final sequestration transparency report, which was due Jan. 21 of this year. They were late submitting the earlier installation of the report.
Obama’s team was also late filing mid-session reviews in 2010, 2011, and 2011. The financial reports on the United States were filed late in 2009, 2011, and 2012.”

Sometimes, we have reason to believe that two things co-vary because of one or more external causes. Yet Chris selected the phrase “correlation does not prove causation” as to the possible reference, nothing helpful.
You may find that you still cannot “prove” anything with data, but with logic, you can derive hypotheses which your data analysis can support.
Jack I have another question from something written in this article. Actually my question is for anyone with a possible answer:
He got his stimulus package.
Bailing out the auto industry and teachers was supposed to make a big difference. I’m sure it did help some of them…temporarily.
Four, or was it five, sessions of QE was a whopper of an economic policy!
Keeping interest rates low…got that (Investors made out in the cheap housing market…granny’s savings not so much))
Healthcare, and the taxes and regulations therein are HUGE!
Banking/Wall Street reform, a bust, but was also huge.
Spent piles of money on R&D and green energy alternatives
Increased unemployment benefits and food stamp benefits.
Had cute little targeted ideas like the $5000 credit for buying a green car or a tax break if a business would spend money on new hires or equipment..woo hoo! (Didn’t make no sense)
It may be true that some of his ambitious proposals have been blocked, cap and trade and minimum wage, but man those would only have made things worse!
So he has gotten a lot of what he wanted economically (which is why we are in the mess we’re in). A lot of it (Tax and regulation) was implemented in Obamacare.
So how has he been blocked in any significant way on his economic policies?
Seems to me that Bush was held personally responsible by liberals for EVERYTHING that occurred under his watch.
If income inequality has increased under Obama’s watch I see no reason to cut him some slack whether or not his polices can be proven to have contributed.
As Harold pointed out so nicely a bit of logic can be applied.
Since the numbers of people now living in poverty have not been this high since the Great Depression, and since the jobless rate continues to be high, much higher than reported, and since more people are on food stamps than ever before I think its pretty safe to say that the economic policies implemented over the past five years have played an important roll in making income inequality worse.
They certainly have not made it better.
We elected a man that has been promoted through life and never worked in any significant job in the private sector. His work was all supported by government grants with no accountability. He has surrounded himself with academics, also with little practical experience…why should anyone be surprised that his policies have not worked?
He also got the “cash for clunkers,” along with the weatherizing homes programs or were those a part of the stimulus pkg?
Oh and don’t forget all of the funds for all the Obama-phones. Congress had to agree to pay for all of them.
If he was able to run up our debt to $17 trillion with $10 trillion on his watch with an “intransigent Congress” I’d hate to know what it would have been with a cooperative Congress.
Peggy I think this article was aimed at buying sympathy for the President. The left thinks all it has to do is scramble some words and people will be fooled…Poor Pwesident Obama, he twies so howd. An’ those mean owl wepubwicans won’t co-opowate!
It’s incredible that a super majority congress that passed (manipulated passage) Obumblecare with all of its taxes and regulation could be called “intransigent”.
And after 2010, I mean come on, we should feel bad for a President that has Reid standing guard in the Senate to block all opposition ideas?
Tina, we all know we have a problem with the liberal media supporting the liberals. They’ve proved their bias with constantly editing, selective reporting and incorporating commentating instead of facts for news.
This administration has bought their support by also hiring so many from the media or their family members. They know who puts food on their table and so do we.
The good news is more are realizing it and turning to other sources like Fox which is #1 and The Blaze which is growing fast. We also have the use of the internet which is another reason Obama has hit the all time low in approval rating.
The very rich are getting even richer and the poor and middle class are getting poorer, which is why Obama and the progressives have to deflect everyone away from realizing that they are the cause. They have to blame it on the conservatives and the Republicans. It’s the only way they can win in 2014. People can’t know the truth, therefore, they must be kept uninformed.
My major concern is the elections themselves. With so much voter fraud and intimidation supported by Holder and with all of the George Soros funded state election officials in place we won’t have an honest election.
Peggy: “Oh and don’t forget all of the funds for all the Obama-phones. Congress had to agree to pay for all of them.”
There is no such thing as an Obama phone, and you have no excuse not to know that by now. You have no grounds to lecture others about being “uninformed” and lacking facts if you are still ignorant enough to believe in mythical Obama phones. You swear by sources such as FOX News and The Blaze, but this is exactly where you got such garbage from. Ridiculous.
Peggy: “The good news is more are realizing it and turning to other sources like Fox which is #1 and The Blaze which is growing fast.”
Funny you should mention that. Daily Caller has the new numbers and FOX is outdoing CNN and MSNBC combined!
I wonder how much longer the left can claim FOX watchers are right wingnuts without insulting…well…just about everybody?!!!
For Chris.

Tina, I’m not surprised at the ratings.
During the 2008 campaign I heard about Palin’s Troopergate and wondered what it was all about. One of the alphabet stations said she was guilty, but omitted what she was guilty of, so I went searching all of the news channels. Finally on Fox they reported she was found not guilty of any charges but was criticized for not controlling her husband who had threatened the brother-in-law who had threatened the Palin children.
My first reactions was are you kidding me. She not only didn’t do anything wrong, she acted within her job duties, but she was “found guilty” according to that first newscast of not controlling her husband.
Well, I guess I and 99% of wives everywhere would have been guilty too. Unless the wife out weighs her husband by a hundred pounds I’d like to meet the wife that could stopped her husband from pounding some dirt-bag into the ground who had threatened to hurt your kids.
Haven’t watch liberal news since then.
Peggy: “The Obama Phone Lady Is Back.”
And if you believe her, you’re just as gullible as she is.
Peggy: “During the 2008 campaign I heard about Palin’s Troopergate and wondered what it was all about. It’s probably you misunderstood. There were two investigations. The first, released by the state legislature, found that Palin WAS guilty of violating ethics laws. The second, by the Alaska State Personnel Board, found that she was not. If the “alphabet stations” were reporting on the first report and not the second, then they were reporting accurately. You may want to reconsider your decision.

If the
Let’s see GOP Congress has blocked every jobs bill and just about every bill to blame Obama as a do nothing Prez…Now we are to fall for the propaganda?
OK so tax cuts to send jobs overseas is something the Tea Party will help stop? Not in Congress
Epic Fail it was made clear this was the plan.
my my how dumb does the Tea Party think Americans are? It was on the news daily! The speaker of the hose gloated daily!
America is a Democratic Republic not the land of the Koch Tea Party

Maybe you should read the OWS Rebuttal. Why does the Tea Party seem so out of touch with the facts and truth? OWS is not Obama supporters at all!
http://occupywallst.org/article/occupy-response-sotu-president-obama/#.UukUpwRulTs.twitter
maybe it is time to realize the Billionaires are running both parties and true Americans are Independents who will fight all corruption Rep and Dem. The Tea Party seems to fail at recognizing the broken system.
Since when should Americans be told they need to compete with a Communist China for jobs and work at their wages? Since when is it ok for the Tea Party to push Americans working for 2 or 3 dollars an hour?
Since when is what has happened to West VA’s water supply American? I mean why should we regulate our drinking water? Profits first for wall street and energy!
Sorry Chris, but I can find nothing that says Palin was found “guilty” of anything other than offending some state legislators. The word “guilty” was only used by the author of an article, it doesn’t appear in the report submitted by the legislators, and then distributed by others.
“..but violated no laws, a report for the state Legislature concluded Friday.”
Todd Palin was found guilty for violating a subpoena. I find it not a coincidence the subpoena was issued when the Iditarod was being held and widely known Todd’s annual participation. One can only assume the subpoena could have been issued before or after the race instead.
Troopergate Panel Finds Sarah Palin Guilty of Abuse of Power:
“Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska’s governor in the firing of her former public safety commissioner, but violated no laws, a report for the state Legislature concluded Friday.”
From the comment section.
“small corrections…
This was not a trial so using the word “guilty” is not really accurate. It was a conclusion or finding by a legislative investigating committee.
The CNN blurb that says she broke no laws is also probably inaccurate because a violation of the State ethics code is a violation of State law (I think). She did not break any law by firing Monegan because she has total discretion to fire The Alaska State Public Safety Commissioner for any reason.
When the Alaska Legislature convenes next year, they will probably decide whether to censure Palin. If they do, her future national political career will be severely damaged.
I really like framing it as a “violation of the public trust” (is that wording in Branchflower’s report?). That is devastating language.
How the McCain campaign handles this report will be very interesting.

Re: small corrections…
I agree that CNN’s blurb is inaccurate. The exact quote from the Alaskan legislature’s report says Palin “unlawfully abused her authority”.
http://www.mydd.com/2008/10/10/troopergate-panel-finds-sarah-palin-guilty-of-abuse-of-power
Todd Palin Guilty: Contempt of Senate:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/shannyn-moore/todd-palin-guilty-contemp_b_164719.html
So my decision stays the same. Palin was found “guilty” only in the biased liberal media articles written by reporters to advance their agenda by discrediting her.
And then we have the “great orator in chief” wowing his drooling followers.
Obama: ‘I’m Not Going to Not Do Anything Without Congress, Not When…’
“Now, I’m hoping that Congress goes along with this, but I’m not going to wait for Congress. I could do more with Congress, but I’m not going to not do anything without Congress, not when it’s about the basic security and dignity of American workers.”
Huh? What? This statement seems twice as confusing as “double-talk,” since it uses not two, but four, negatives.
The president then proceeded to explain how he plans to (somehow) employ this Congressional strategy to create a new, government-backed (and run?) retirement savings product that will “never go down in value”:
“So here’s what I’m going to do today. This is what this little table is set up for. I’m going to sign a presidential memorandum that directs the U.S. Treasury Secretary, Jack Lew, to create a new way for working Americans to start their own retirement savings. (Applause.) And as soon as I sign this, Jack Lew will get the memo. He is right here. So I’m going to be able to just — here, here’s your memo.
“And we’re calling it “MyRA.” Not IRA — MyRA. And what it is, it’s a new type of savings bond that we can set up without legislation that encourages Americans to begin to build a nest egg. And it’s simple. Workers can contribute through automatic deductions in their paychecks, just like those of you who have an employer-sponsored pension fund can do. They can keep the same account even if they change jobs, so they can carry it over. It’s safe. These account balances will never go down in value. They’re backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government.”
