  7. Tina says:

Dewey it’s already obvious you are neither fair nor as brilliant as you believe yourself to be. I watched your video and I can say without hesitation it is just more leftist crap…like the 99%-ers who made filth of our streets awhile back.

Your video is as vapid as are your constant bumper sticker posts, “…full of sound and fury signifying nothing”.

Investments (of any kind) are not sinister and yet this pair manages to make it sound like all military contractors and their investors are the devil incarnate working to harm the America people and take over the government. Even the tile of the book is unoriginal. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Goerge Soros money was behind this clap trap.

The lies are easy to disprove with statistical information. The insinuations made in the video are another matter. Whether you believe or not depends on how easily you can be duped.

This group charges that Wall Street is a cabal that has worked to overtake our government, to oppress the citizens through buildup of the “industrial complex” and to control our legislators. They include Silicon Valley and the new technological companies in this wicked sounding “complex” because of new technology and the radical (and illegal) use of NSA spying under the Obama administration. But there’s a problem. Military spending has decreased as a percentage of our budget since 1962 by almost 30%.

In contrast, combined social program spending has increased over 40% in the last 50 years.

Eisenhower’s warning has apparently been well headed in Washington DC.

But those who believe citizen dependency on government is superior to individual freedom, responsibility, and dignity have been quite busy in the last fifty years making serfs of the working citizen while enslaving many/most of the rest to a life of dependency. This has been done systematically by radicals of the left to create a socialist federal government…you might call the effort a “fundamental transformation” given that the nation was founded as a union of states with limited federal government designed for protection the states…a federal government with a single major roll…to be in charge of the military and defense of the United States. Power, according to the founders would be vested in the people and the states.

The budget numbers according to NPR reveal the lie in the video. The numbers have been extracted from the NPR provided graph:

Military spending was 51.7% of the budget in 1962, 29.7% in 1987, and was 22.6% in 2011 with more cuts being implemented as we speak! That’s your military industrial complex.

Social Security was 12.8% of the budget in 1962, 19.9% in 1987, and was 19.8% in 2011 (even though the Boomers are retiring…the cost of living was dropped 2 years)

Medicare spending was 14.8% of the budget in 1962, 15.2% in 1987, and 13.1% in 2011.

    Safety Net programs were 5.8% in 1962, 7.2% in 1987, and 12.6% in 2011.

    Medicaid spending was 1.0% in 1962, 3.8% in 1987, and in 2011 was 10.1%.

Clearly the specious assertion that military spending has caused deep cuts in spending for schools, roads and bridges, or social programs for that matter, is absurd. There is no “military industrial complex” bent on the destruction of the republic. But there’s another factor that looms large in this lie: Roads, bridges and schools are largely funded at state and local levels as they should be.

The power that companies hold over our politicians is no greater than the power that education and private sector unions or green nonprofits have over politicians. They take money and give favors to all of them. And what is the game? The game is influence. How else have the excessive and unreasonable regulations on energy happened? Why else are the union “shovel ready” jobs that would be created if the Keystone Pipeline were built been denied? The powerful green lobby! Radical environmentalist organizations bribe our legislators and before you know it coal miners are also out of a job.

There is no denying that our politicians are influenced by companies and organizations. Some of it is legitimate and some of it constitutes collusion and quid pro quo. Harry Reid, for instance came to Congress with almost nothing and is now worth millions…how does that happen on a congressman’s salary?

This problem exists because our federal government has become too big and powerful. Unless the people demand smaller government Washington DC will continue to be a fight club of opposing influences. The problem is in the people. The people are aligned with the lobbyists in one way or another for what they represent to them personally. Our sympathies with green beliefs, our investments in pension funds, our alliances with unions, our loyalty to the industry or union in which we work…the real estate lobby is huge! Houses and loan costs are important to a lot of Americans.

There is no conspiracy. There is a sad walking away from the founding principles and personal responsibility.

Knowledge is power. The Constitution is still in place. The best we can do is arm ourselves with knowledge and information. That is what people who join the Tea Party are about! That is why they have become a target of the socialist left.

The conspiracy described in Dewey’s video is just so much political theater. The left wing hopes that if they can stand up corporate America as something to hate…if they can convince us that there is a conspiracy of the “industrial complex”, we will ignore the fact that this administration has driven the debt up by $7 trillion. That it will continue to climb because entitlement spending has not been reformed. That adding another entitlement, Obamacare, will only make it worse. That our poverty rate is the highest its been since the depression. That the economy, such as it is at 2%, is more political theater. That’ it’s held together by federal money printing on the one hand and oppressed through higher taxation and regulation, high energy costs, and uncertainty about the future on the other. That the jobs picture is dismal!

Dewey…apparently aligned with the left unwittingly hopes we will be distracted by this “independent” video and forget the failure of Obamacare and the arrogance in the White House. Ain’t going to happen my friend!
