As is our time honored college town’s custom, the barely legal drinkers will fill the bars and drink green beer until they’re completely out of their minds. Some will pass out on the sidewalks and be arrested. Others will start fights and will be arrested. Others yet will drive cars and they will be arrested. And no doubt some of the girls will wake up the morning in bed with stranger or worse finding out her excapades from the night before have been posted on Facebook. And then a few of the luckier ones will merely stagger back to their fraternity houses where they will hug the white throne until they think their guts will fall out.
Yes, it’s going to be a fun-filled St. Pats day in ol’ Chico. To be here is real exciting stuff, it’s like watching the running of the bulls in Pamplona, only the bulls here are wobbly and tend to vomit and pee in yards, flower pots and on sidewalks.
UPDATE: By 2 PM there were only a couple of hundred partiers in the downtown and they were fairly quiet as they made the rounds, going from bar to bar.
I think most bars opened late at the request of the city council, I could be wrong on that but it’s what I recall. In the past when bars opened at 6 a.m. we had a lot of drunks on the street by 10 a.m. and it was just too much. So it makes sense to hold them back for as long as possible.
LaSalles was gearing up for a crowd and they were bringing out the barriers to line up the crowd for this evening. Madison Bear was already doing that and they were just starting to fill up.
An ABC team was observed checking ID’s, no doubt there will be more of them out later.
Cheers, Remember green dye is not a flavor!
Jack…did you just agree with regulations on our free market system? Any business should be allowed to push its product 27/7! What are ya some kinda communist? LOL. I’m teasing of course, but it is funny.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
