EPA Fooling America to Push Green Agenda

Posted by Tina

Two stories in the news today suggest deception is being used to further the radical agenda of the green movement.

The Hill reports on a court ruling against EPA challengers that will allow the EPA to go forward with extreme regulations on coal and oil-fired power plants:

{mosads]Stallion Energy and other industry groups challenged the rule on the grounds that the EPA did not provide proper notice or time to comment on a study conducted by the agency.

Industry groups also said the EPA failed to quantify the relevant mercury emissions and associated health risk, and did not offer alternative strategies.

But the court found the EPA’s designation of mercury emissions from generating units as a “threat to public health and the environment” substantively and procedurally valid.

The rule is expected to prevent 11,000 premature deaths, 4,700 heart attacks and 130,000 asthma attacks every year, the agency said in its brief.

The agency cheered the ruling, calling it a victory for health and the environment.

Sounds reasonable, right? But there’s a big problem with the EPA findings regarding health risks as FrontPage Magazine explains:

In a stunning admission, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy revealed to House Science, Space and Technology Committee chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) that the agency neither possesses, nor can produce, all of the scientific data used to justify the rules and regulations they have imposed on Americans via the Clean Air Act. In short, science has been trumped by the radical environmentalist agenda.

Republicans members of the House Science Committee have sponsored a bill that would require full disclosure and openness:

…the Secret Science Reform Act, aka, HR4012…intends to prohibit the EPA from “proposing, finalizing or disseminating regulations based upon scientific information that is not publicly available in a manner sufficient for independent scientific analysis.” It would amend the Section 6 (b) of the Environmental Research, Development and Demonstration Authorization Act of 1978 in the following manner:

“The Administrator shall not propose, finalize, or disseminate a covered action unless all scientific and technical information relied on to support such covered action is (A) specifically identified; and (B) publicly available in a manner that is sufficient for independent analysis and substantial reproduction of research results.”

Deception, dirty tricks and tom foolery have been used to pass very costly legislation and regulation under the guise of helping the American public in the last six years.

Zip has been done to improve conditions for the creation of good jobs.

Americans care about clean air (and healthcare) but dishonest and agenda driven draconian regulations won’t do them any good if they can’t make a living. Telling Americans lies based on secret phony science is just wrong.
