Toyota Says Good-bye to California!

For Japanese auto brands, the logic of keeping their U.S. sales and administrative arms in California is breaking down under the outsized penalties of conducting business in the Golden State and the changing dynamics of the North American automotive industry. So Toyota is leaving, according to Automotive News.

And where is Japan’s biggest automaker relocating its sales and marketing operations in America? Why, North Texas, of course. The move to Plano, Texas, will involve most of the 5,000 managers and employees at Toyota’s current Torrance, Calif., headquarters, the magazine said.  Yeah, 5000 highly paid people…all leaving the state.  Thank you democrats!

I bet if there was a State of Jefferson, Toyota would be going there and not Texas!

Jefferson would at least have a good shot at attracting businesses like Toyota! This isn’t the first company and it won’t be the last. After living most of my life in this state it sure is sad to see it turning into such an unfriendly place…our kids and grand kids would like to be able to prosper here.

The sad part is Gov. Perry didn’t have to entice them, they couldn’t wait to get out California. 5000 jobs… pow. Dems are you paying attention? Do you know how much money you just lost?

I don’t know about that. They’re not really moving to Plano. They’re moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area. You got nothing like that kind of infrastructure to offer.

Did you G-Earth Plano yet? It’s creepy. I don’t know what they’re going to do when it comes to a choice between driving and breathing. There aren’t any groceries for miles at a time, and you’ll eat what Wal-Mart says you’ll eat.

I mean, if your ideal is the mall and the golf course, you’ll be perfectly happy. But I did hear a statistic that for every 180 Texas takes, in time, 100 come back.

Libby, Plano isn’t under a bubble sweetie. If they only have Walmart at the moment, and I am just taking your word for it, they will have more stores. 5000 new job holders coming to this place will make a huge difference to the local economy.

  3. Tina says:

Dallas Fort Worth airport is only 29 miles from Plano…The cities can’t be much farther away! They can get to the city on the President George Bush Turnpike. Plano is just the burbs…you know out where the air is cleaner and the folks are less stressed.

  4. Harold says:

As a person with a eye on relocation, I find that States like Texas offer individual freedoms and business friendly ethics that are lost in California’s Liberal sink hole politics.

  5. J. Soden says:

Folks with intelligence are making decisions to depart Taxifornia in droves. We left years ago!

Pretty soon all that will be left in Taxifornia are those on the goofernment dole. Gonna be interesting to see how Sacramento pays for all their giveaway programs with nobody left on the income side of the ledger.

  6. Jim says:

If all you guys love Texas so much, why don’t you move there?

The taxpayers of Texas are paying $10,000 for EACH Toyota job that they are relocating there.

Jim, that’s not quite accurate. Yes, Toyota is eventually going to receive about $40M in perks from the state incentives fund for their move. That’s about the cost of one good basketball player isn’t it? On the other hand Toyota will make a $300 million dollar in Texas and continued to dump millions into the State’s revenue every year for as long as they can predict. Sounds like one heck of a deal for Texas! Sorry to see them go, that’s a huge loss for California.

  7. Tina says:

J If your scenario comes to pass I will enjoy watching all the very wealthy progressives in the state scream as their equivalent tax rate becomes 80 to 90 percent.

  8. Toby says:

We lived in Grand Prairie, Texas back in the late 60’s and early 70’s. I was just a little kid but I can tell you that Plano was and is an up and coming city. They had some out of this world BBQ restaurants, people would drive hours to eat at them. Plano has or had loads of room for any kind of development. Has railroads and highways Plano is to Dallas what Poway is to San Diego, with the bonus of not being taxed and regulated to death.
I hope the liberals keep their uninformed, snobbish hate for Texas. F’um, Texas doesn’t need them or want them.

  9. Jim M. says:

Somebody is going to be forced to make up for this loss of tax revenue. I think I know who it is and I am not happy.

  10. Peggy says:

Jim, agree our taxes will go up more to pay for all of the “free” stuff the Democrats keep wanting to give everyone including illegal immigrants’ Obamacare and college tuition.

Loved this version of the Star Spangled Banner sung in a minor key and had to share. It has a haunting effect.

  11. Toby says:

Happy to be back. We moved, after being in the same place for seven years, it was a job.
Anyway, I am thrilled to hear Texas is aborting Wendy Davis. Great news to start the day on.

  12. Tina says:

Wow Peggy…that young man’s minor interpretation is fitting…could we get a stronger S.O.S. for the coming elections?

Goes with the flag stamps I’ve been applying upside down to all of my mail.

    America’s in serious struggle.

  13. Tina says:

I concur Toby…good to hear from you. I miss those stinging funny one liners. Hope you will continue to post.

So even the Dems have lost faith in Wendy?

According to HuffPo she should stop taking about “her story”…too late!

Willie Nelson’s gonna try to revive the campaign…she even met with the President…polls look awful.
