Get a Clue: Israel is not the Terrorist – Hamas is!

by Jack

I just read in today’s editorials that some lunk-head liberal was accusing Israel of terrorism because they’re fighting in the Gaza and civilians are dying. He tried to reinforce his argument with some historical references of dubious, if not debatable value. At best this character made a weak, “He said she said” kind of argument. But, the reality here, right now, is something else and I can’t let this guy get away with his distortions.

The fact is, Hamas is the aggressor…period. They are the terrorists and they have been terrorists all along since their inception. The United States would not sit by while 3000 missiles were launched into our cities and neither will Israel. But, this guy wants to hold Israel to a higher standard than his own country? Any victim of an unjustified attack has the right to defend themselves. And now what they are discovering inside the Gaza shows an unprecedented level militancy that was dedicated to destroying Israel and anyone seeing this must realize Hamas does not exist for peace. Hamas was never interested or invested in helping improve the lives of Palestinians through peace. They were all about preparing for war. They diverted millions of reconstruction money to their war effort and then used the poverty and misery of their people to generate hate for Israel.

The thousands of tons of building materials Israel allowed into the Gaza for homes, clinics and schools was soon turned against them in a labyrinth of invasion tunnels for Hamas terrorists. This allowed Hamas to strike at will, killing innocent Israeli citizens without so much as a warning. Then the cowards retreated into their secret hiding places, much like the Vietcong during the Vietnam war.

Some of these tunnels were huge and had railroad tracks to move heavy weapons and munitions quickly along with terrorists. What started out to be tunnels numbered in the teens could well go into a hundred or more before its over. New tunnels are being discovered every day that the fighting continues in the Gaza. And every day Hamas finds new places to launch their rockets with high explosive warheads into Israel, killing whoever happens to be close when they hit. That random killing is the difference between the Israelis and Hamas and this is what makes Hamas terrorists.

It doesn’t matter if these deadly missiles are launched adjacent to a Palestinian school or shelter and they draw return fire from the Israelis. Hamas welcomes it, it’s why they chose these sites! The pictures of bloody collateral damage inflames the passions of the world against Israel, or so they think. Hamas has no regard for the safety of their own children when it comes to promoting a grizzly photo-op. They love to show war misery, sometimes it’s real and other times you will find the same crying old woman or man standing amid the rubble in several different locations and months apart. We saw this tactic used in the Lebanese war many times. Yet many bleeding heart liberals still buy into it, just as they foolishly buy into Israel being the terrorist and Palestinians being the innocent victims today.

If a liberal dares to cite some highly selective incidents where Israel made mistakes or a few individuals went too far in their quest for vengeance, then I can cite just as many and a lot more to prove how the Palestinians and Arabs wronged the Jews. Where does that get us? No where. Besides who does not know that throughout the last 2000 years the Jews have been victimized as a matter of State policy and individual bigotry?

Do you know where the name Palestine came from? When Roman Army crushed tiny Israel, in order to destroy their culture they renamed Israel Palestine in honor of the Philistines they Israelites defeated. If you know your Bible you know something about the Philistines. It was typical of Rome to heap insult onto a defeated foe in order to crush their spirit. In the last 300 years Palestine’s borders have been determined by many powerful nations without consulting either the Jews or the Palestinians. After WWI the Sykes-Picot agreement was reached and not one Palestinian was involved and neither were the Jews, but it remapped Palestine. It was basically England, France and Russia that carved out many Arab nations and imposed their colonial authority on the locals. It was not until the Nazi’s, their Palestinian allies lost the war that the Jewish question was addressed with the Jews finally having some influence in the outcome.

England’s David Lloyd George was a key player in helping form the beginning of the return of Palestine to the Jewish people who would rename it Israel that promised to embrace Palestinians with the same rights and respect as any other citizen. The same magnanimity could not be said for the Palestinians or the Israeli army would not be slugging it out in the Gaza today. From it’s recent creation too many Palestinians have untoward thoughts about how to deal with the Jews, and no doubt many of those ideas were inspired by their Nazi friends who ran the gas chambers.

Jack there is really no excuse for blaming the Jews. They have bent over backwards in negotiations for peace only to find that their concessions and good will would be spit on with a return to rockets. Hamas and the Palestinians who support them have not shown any serious intention to accept the Jews as neighbors.

There is only one way to win with an enemy that takes its cue from Hitler…you must defeat them absolutely. Never quit the battle until someone genuinely yells uncle or they are completely eliminated. It’s sad and detestable but unfortunately the only way to realize a state of peace.

I’ve been trying to imagine a hatred so great that you would sacrifice children’s lives over many decades and use whatever materials you have for a terror war rather than to provide for families with homes and hospitals…I cannot.

Jack since you’re a bit of a history buff I thought you might enjoy this article at American Thinker. I learned a few things I didn’t know.

  3. Chris says:

    They’re both terrorists.

    Saw this the other day:

“It’s good to see that Hamas and Israel have reached a compromise and are now working together to reach their mutual goal of killing lots of Palestinian children.”

  4. Chris says:

Vox has a pretty balanced, informative take:

“Hamas’s commitment to terrorism and to Israel’s destruction lock Gazans into a conflict with Israel that can never be won and that produces little more than Palestinian civilian deaths. Israel’s blockade on Gaza, which strangles economic life there and punishes civilians, helps produce a climate that is hospitable to extremism, and allows Hamas to nurture a belief that even if Hamas may never win, at least refusing to put down their weapons is a form of liberation.”

  6. Dewey says:

Correct they are both terrorists. The blockade? So Palestinians should be happy for what they get?

The misinformation in this country is amazing, more amazing is how gullible Americans are when watching media owned by just a couple people…and their fav is foreign owned!…

So the civilians are trapped and have no rights?

That is Changing the rules of war…If Americans were trapped and being killed? Here? In Europe?

  7. Pie Guevara says:

Above we can find two striking examples of Thomas Sowell’s observation “In an age when scientists are creating artificial intelligence, too many of our educational institutions seem to be creating artificial stupidity.”

Terrorists do not provide evacuation warnings when a Hamas rocket installation is targeted. Terrorists do not supply food, water, electricity, and medical assistance to their victims. Israel has been supplying, and continues to supply huge amounts of aid to Gaza civilians.

Hamas is a terrorist organization derived from another terrorist organization, the Islamic Brotherhood. Like all Islamic terrorists, their goal is jihad and the destruction of Israel.

The destruction and horrors of war within Gaza are all laid at the feet of Hamas who plans, develops, and initiates the warfare with Israel.

  8. Tina says:

Defense of ones nation and people is not terror. The moral equivalence crowd is either insane, willfully stupid, or both!

  9. Peggy says:

Interesting Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are almost silent. If actions speak louder than words Gaza wouldn’t need another flotilla if Egypt would let them move supplies from their adjoining borders.

  10. Chris says:

I don’t see how you can congratulate Israel on their efforts to prevent Palestinian casualties, when you look at the numbers and see how completely ineffective those efforts have been. The death toll of Palestinian civilians absolutely dwarfs that of Israeli citizens. Intentions are not as important as results. A Palestinian mother who lost a child from an Israeli missile is not going to be comforted by being told Israel tried to avoid casualties, or that it’s really Hamas’ fault for starting the violence.

It’s true that Israel makes some effort to prevent civilian casualties in Palestine, while Hamas makes no such effort, but Israel’s strategy clearly isn’t working. To put it bluntly, Israel is just as bad at preventing civilian deaths in Palestine as Palestine is at causing civilian deaths in Israel. For whatever reason, Palestinians are often not able to heed the warnings in time to get to safety. (Have you seen Palestine? The blockade makes it very hard to get around.)

The overwhelming number of civilian deaths in Palestine is actually good for Hamas, as it further radicalizes the population and fuels anti-Israel sentiment, creating more terrorists. Hamas is a terrorist group, and it wants martyrs. Hamas really does use its people as human shields, of that there is no doubt. Israel is sabotaging itself with its current strategy, and giving Hamas exactly what it wants. Hamas can’t win a military conflict with the much more heavily armed Israel, but they can use this conflict to their political advantage.

Killing hundreds of civilians in a far less heavily armed nation is not “defense of one’s nation and people.” Israel is already very well defended, and almost none of Hamas’ rockets actually make it into Israel. I am not suggesting that Israel should not defend itself, nor am I saying they are the original aggressors. But they hold most of the cards in this situation, they are the most well armed and defended, and they are the ones directly responsible for most of the civilian casualties. It’s sad that simply acknowledging those basic facts is enough to get one branded as anti-Israel or siding with terrorists.

    • Post Scripts says:

Chris, Chris, Chris, do you not understand that if Israel had not been showing great restraint and at the same time notifying neighborhoods to expect shelling and to evacuate that there would have been many times the casualties? And do you not understand that Hamas uses the civilian population as a human shield? And further, do you not realize that the civilians are not forced to stay behind, they choose to do so because Hamas asked them? How can you say what you did, if you are aware of these true things? What would be your excuse for aiding and abetting the enemy of peace? Parenthetically I am addressing my rhetorical questions to all the liberals like Chris who wrongly accuse Israel at this time.

  11. Pie Guevara says:

The IDF is doing what is necessary to damage Hamas’ ability to engage in further warfare, something they are obligated to do.

The only sabotage going on is coming from the insane and rabid left which is demonizing Israel.

  12. Chris says:

Jack: “Chris, Chris, Chris, do you not understand that if Israel had not been showing great restraint and at the same time notifying neighborhoods to expect shelling and to evacuate that there would have been many times the casualties?”

I’ve seen no evidence that enough people are able to evacuate in time to make this true.

“And do you not understand that Hamas uses the civilian population as a human shield?”

Me, in the comment directly before yours: “Hamas really does use its people as human shields, of that there is no doubt.”

“And further, do you not realize that the civilians are not forced to stay behind, they choose to do so because Hamas asked them?”

Evidence, please? I am sure there are some radicals who choose to stay behind to become martyrs, but the notion that the majority of civilian casualties are doing this sounds ridiculous.

“What would be your excuse for aiding and abetting the enemy of peace?”

I find it atrocious that you would accuse me of “aiding and abetting the enemy of peace” for criticizing a nation for killing hundreds of civilians.

  13. Chris says:

These two articles show why it’s so hard for Palestinians to heed the evacuation warnings:

“Life in the Gaza Strip is like being trapped inside a giant prison. More than 1.8 million people live in an area only 32 kilometres long and a few kilometres wide. In other conflict zones around the world, families are usually able to flee to other parts of the country, or across borders. But here there is no escape, United Nations shelters are already overwhelmed.”

Why Don’t Palestinians Just Leave Gaza? They Can’t.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/31/gaza-borders_n_5630811.html?1406812219

And this one articulates my position on Israel’s warnings quite well:

“Intentions are important. People instinctively understand this. But they also instinctively understand, unless taught to think otherwise, that inevitable and unavoidable consequences of an action are important as well and have a major impact on the question of culpability. Simply asserting that one had a legitimate overriding intention (killing an “enemy combatant”), and that this renders moot the predictable if not inevitable consequences (the deaths of non-combatants), is repugnant to reason and universal human values.”

    http://www.thenational.ae/opinion/israels-rhetoric-exposes-some-disturbing-moral-grey-areas

Hamas certainly bears much responsibility for civilian deaths within its borders. But so does the nation pulling the trigger.

  14. Peggy says:

The citizens of Gaza are truly caught between a rock and a hard place. Neither country to their north or south will let them escape to and with the sea at their backs they are caught in the middle.

Hamas wants to wipe out Israel, kill every Jew and will not negotiate to live peacefully as neighbors.

Hamas is acting like all of the other terrorist groups with their land grabs spreading across the ME. Hamas wants Israel’s land and is using people as human shields.

Worth watching Netanyahu’s press conference today when it becomes available online.

  15. Dewey says:

They are both guilty of war crimes mark my words. USA can not accuse Israel because of our war crimes…

Bush war in Iraq, Torture, and I personally think the NDAA allowing the killing of a US citizen in a foreign country by Obama is a war crime.

Forget the political media game….. When we say it is OK to mass murder civilians we are changing the rules of engagement forever.

So now Mexico could send a drone over here and bomb the innocent to get a cartel member?

The amount of Israeli money in our elections should not be controlling media as it does.

Gaza has been surrounded for years. Neither country is right 100% but yet innocent people die?

Religious wars are the reason we have separation of state and church…

What do you call the religious extreme right here with masks and ar-15’s? Trying to dictate to “Those Liberals” same thing as Hamas or Al Queida

Civil War? for them? I think not!

Sheldon Addelson’s kiss my ring party which politician will he choose to give money to?

Well we will be able to tell the front runners when they start attacking online gambling because the free market means knock out Sheldon’s competition….

    Cool fact:
John Adams put Benjamin Franklin Buck (Ben Franklin grandson) in prison cause Ben Franklin grandson dare to write that president John Adams was old, toothless balding and combative.
