You may have heard that a grand jury indictment has been brought against Governor Rick Perry of Texas in what has been called, “pure unadulterated hogwash,” by Judge Jeanine Pirro :
“A famous court of appeals judge once said a grand jury could indict a ham sandwich. Now, I believe in the rule of law, but I’m not going to sugar coat this one. The indictment of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for abuse of his veto power and coercion of a public servant is pure unadulterated hogwash. It makes DAs like me cringe in embarrassment. And it’s not just me. Even former Obama White House political adviser David Axelrod calls the indictment, quote, ‘pretty sketchy.’ Now, I spent my career in the assignment of blame. More than three decades as a prosecutor, prosecutor, and a superior court judge an elected district attorney. I have impanelled grand jury, instructed grand juries and ruled on grand jury actions. Nothing about this indictment makes sense. A sitting governor facing 109 years in prison because he threatened to veto funding to a drunk district attorney’s public integrity unit? Really? No one disputes that the law gives the governor the power to veto funding. Period, end of the story. So now every time a governor vetoes funding or legislation, will he or she be subject to an investigation? Or an indictment because people complained it was political?
Background on the DA who instigated this indictment, and the corruption in her district, can be read here.
This isn't the first time that liberals have used the courts to cause their opponents trouble. Sarah Palin stepped down as Governor of Alaska to spare the people of Alaska the expense and disruption that would follow because of the multiple frivolous lawsuits brought against her. Tom De Lay was forced from congress and has spent years defending himself in court and before him Kay Baily Hutchison was harassed through the courts.
By now our readers are familiar with the left’s favorite tactical guide, “Rules for Radicals,” a tomb that instructs the social/political left activist in nasty methods to destroy opponents and push the socialist agenda. In Texas Alinsky style dirty tricksters are plotting to damage Governor Rick Perry, who may try a second run for president, by using the courts as a tool to weaken him.
The people of Texas, indeed all Americans, would do well to stand together against these abusive tactics that damage both the political and judicial process and force unnecessary financial burdens on tax payers.
Yup, and right here in River City. Anybody remember Bruce Herschensohn and Bob Mulholland in 1992?
I have to agree that this lawsuit seems frivolous. No one disputes that Perry has the right to veto power, what they’re claiming is that Perry did this for political reasons. Congratulations, that describes 90% of everything any politician does, ever. Unless the jury is composed of mind readers, I don’t see how the plaintiffs can prove their case against Perry.
That said, I find it interesting that you bring up frivolous lawsuits against Republicans, but not frivolous lawsuits against Democrats. Obama has been subject to a few, as I recall.

I’ve never once seen a liberal bring up “Rules for Radicals” in any discussion, but you seem to bring it up at least once a week. It sounds like it’s actually your favorite.
Chris, It’s incredible to me that you continue to be, ______ fill in the proper descriptor, when you find a partisan story on a conservative blog.
I have no incentive to be “fair.”
I have a lot of incentive to expose the dirty tricks of those who work to defeat right wing candidates, undermine our freedoms, redistribute wealth, destroy our economy, pick winners and losers, gin up class and race envy and warfare, and block participation in the lawmaking process by the Republican controlled House.
Why on earth would you expect liberals, or the radicals that control the Democrat Party, to “bring up” the manual they’ve studied and used for political and social warfare? The very idea is silly.
However since you brought it up:

Besides…the Perry story was in the news TODAY…and this blog discusses current events.
Yes RHT447, I remember the slimming of Herschensohn at the critical last hour and the rules applied would be rule #4 and #12, the all time favorite:
4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
12. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.”
Having served on a grand jury, it’s relatively easy to bring in an indictment for jaywalking to folks not normally associated with the law.
It’s an entirely different matter to get a actual conviction. Want proof? Just look at all of the charges made by our Dept of Jerks and Clown AG that have been tossed by both the courts and juries!
Go, Rick!
Seems like fair and balanced article to me! -Jack
