Once upon a time, I thought tattoos were great because they took all the guess work out of knowing if the girl was trashy. But, so many women have them these days I wonder if I can still rely on them? This inspired my current article with the opening question: Q. Do tattoos make a women look cheap? And to be specific I am not talking about the little rose tattooed on the ankle, I’m talking about inked sleeves on the arms and full leg tats or full back tats.
The following are a few comments from another site that I thought you might find interesting:
“I don’t care how beautiful or classy a woman appears as soon as I see a tattoo she drops in the class level in my opinion of her. They make a woman look cheap, dumb and uneducated. I associate men with them with as uneducated and classless as well. They are ugly to everyone but the person who got them.”
“People with tattoos are looking for attention and want people to think they have a “toughness” about them. I see someone who is not that bright with an inferiority complex and a low weekly paycheck. Drink beer, talk tough and fight. Not exactly ‘The Land of the Mental Giants.” It’ s kind of a status symbol for the low I.Q. crowd.”
I’ve never had the slightest inclination to get a tatoo. It just isn’t something I find to be attractive and I keep thinking about what some of them will look like later in life as the skin wrinkles and sags.
I did see one that I thought was really beautiful on a pretty young blond woman. It was truly a work of art like something you would see in a painting on a vase. But still…
Nope wouldn’t get one but definitely in favor of people making their own decision.
You are right about some of them narrowing or limiting options and choices for some jobs…at least for now.
One thing you didn’t address is the cost of those tattoos. They are not cheap, especially the ones that cover whole body parts, like backs, arms and legs. Even small ones run around a hundred dollars.
Plus, the time that’s involved in sitting there runs into major hours wasted. If someone is working and has a family, who has that much time? Unless they’re not working, then how are they affording to pay all of that money?
I got one during my Harley days. It’s two yellow roses on my shoulder, one for each of my sons. I did have to be careful about what I wore for work so it didn’t show through my clothes.
And if anyone tells you it doesn’t hurt, they’re lying.
My daughter has two tattoos from her younger days when she was a rebel without a cause. lol But, they’re fairly small and not located in too obvious of places.
I have to admit when girls do the “sleeves” or they have huge tats on multiple areas of their body it is not very attractive IMHO. Dainty, girly tats are okay. When I see a heavily tattooed homeless person I think…nice investment bozo.
Peggy you and my cousin would get along just fine. She rides and also has a few discreet tats…also has worked in education for about 25-30 years.
The expense is a big factor and some of the people that have them makes you wonder how they could afford it but not all artists are the same, maybe their prices are different too.
