19 Year Old Colorado Girl Tries to Join ISIS

Meet Shannon Maureen Conley from Denver, Colorado, a jihadist wanna-be.  According to her parents Shannon is also a victim of an oppressive American judicial system that has her life on hold at the moment. 

A federal judge gave her four years to sit and think about the error of trying to board a flight to Turkey to join ISIS.    She said she was only going to be a non-violent jihadist and merely help the fighters.

Initially the judge thought she must need mental health counseling because she was so brainwashed, so wrapped up in defending Islam!  But, defend it from what?  Crazy fools like herself?  People unable to discern to good from evil without an Imam telling them what to think?

“What is it that will cause others to stop in the future,”  Judge Raymond P. Moore said during sentencing.  The honest answer is, nothing.  But, serving time in a federal prison will sure slow them down.   Unfortunately, these brainless types are actively being recruited by radical Imams there too.  In fact prisons (world-wide) are some of their best recruiting centers.

One might think that allowing Imams access to our prison system would not be the smartest thing we could do,  but you know how we feel about freedom of religion, even in prison.   Once again our freedom gets turned against us in some unforeseeable ways.

The prosecutor said Conley was “pathologically naive.  Maybe this explains why she showed up at the FBI office for an inter view wearing a tee shirt that said, “Sniper don’t run, you’ll die trying.”   FBI investigators warned Conley that if she followed through on her plans to got to Syria and join ISIS it could lead to her arrest.  She spurned their warning and responded with, “I’d rather go to prison than do nothing,”

Before sentencing, Ms. Conley wept as she read a statement saying, “It was after arrest that I learned the truth about the ISIS that I was taught to respect.”   Apparently this only validated what the prosecution was saying about her naivety.   It was noted that while she was free and could make her own free choices, she went willing over to radical Islam and bought into it just like so many others before her.   There were no obstacles on Shannon to learning the truth about ISIS.   It didn’t have to come down to being busted by the FBI.  The truth was all around her the whole time, but she absolutely and defiantly rejected it.

I imagine that when people would tell her about the atrocities committed by ISIS she would find a way to dismiss it as Western propaganda.  So, now her choice of religious association is paying off big time with a free trip to Gray Stone Manor for the next 4 years.    Too bad she won’t be forced to pay back the money we’re going to spend to keep her there.    Wish there was a way to bill her parents too, they helped created this person.

Despite her reversal of fortunes, she still doesn’t get it.   Check this out:  “Since my incarceration I have had a chance to read the entire Quran.”  Well, goody for you Shannon, too bad you didn’t spend an equal amount of time reading an American history book or the Bible.  You might have learned something that would have encouraged the judge to grant you probation.

After spending at least 3 of her 4 years in the big house, she will have 3 more years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service in which she has to interact with “ordinary people,” Judge Moore said.   He also prohibited her possession of any sort of explosive materials.  “I’m not taking any chances,” Judge Moore said.

Conley entered a plea deal in exchange for the reduced charge with a much lighter sentence.   Her parents think she’s just being made an example and she shouldn’t be going to prison at all.    This is quite true, if she made it to Syria she could be coming home to them in a pine box, just like a number of other Americans.
