President Obama dumped a ton of money on Baltimore and what difference did it make? I think its time to do an audit. I want to know where our tax money went. We deserve to see the results of a $1.8 billion investment.
467 million for education
206 million for environmental purposes
24 million for “the family”
15 million for transportation
838 million for one neighborhood renovation!
I think any politicians that misspent this money should be brought up on charges from theft to criminal negligence. Its time for accountability – no more excuses.
Its downright impossible to argue with a fella who knows what he’s talking about.
Mr. Jack, that’s a posse I’ll join…..
Obama’s track record on “renovation” is pretty dismal! See also here.
Big government politicians and bureaucrats never bother to notice whether their “helpful” projects work.
I’m with you Jack but we need to expand the audit to include every bureaucracy in every federal, state and local department.
But smaller government would be easier…a move to close down many of the bureaucracies would be better.
Common sense would tell anyone that wasting money is not an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars.
Closer to the point of Jacks article, it was disgusting to read about former Baltimore schools CEO Andrés Alonso dismiss the waste of federal stimulus dollars that happened under his watch. He said in a TV interview that if only $25,000 of the budget was questioned, he would “take it any day of the week.”
Not only is the money in question much more than the $25,000 referred to, but any American would prefer to have those tax dollars back in their pocket.
Although this is only one example of Government waste, (with no accountability), the waste, fraud and abuse that went on in the Maryland school system is exactly what makes Jacks post about wasteful government spending so pertinent.
All Americans have had to cut back in this tough economy, so when we see school officials spend hard-earned tax dollars on dinner cruises and makeovers, Tax payers have a right to be angry.
The American people deserve much better from the work Government officials and employees are paid to do.
Mostly I believe it is systemic from the WH on down.
The other point is why we have allowed these Government salaried people to refuse to take responsibility after wrongdoing has occurred, what’s more, currently we are faced with too many problems as a result of the Obama administration shielding and all the divisive spin of information they do release.
With regard to wasted education stimulus dollars throughout America
The Department of Education audit revealed these findings only looked at some school systems in 11 states to see how stimulus dollars were spent on education. And Tina and Jack are correct, we need to look deeper
Accountable Federal leadership should call for an expanded audit of all school districts receiving these stimulus dollars to determine how this money was spent.
Every Taxpayer deserves to know how those tax dollars were spent, as well as who is responsible and whether the waste goes further than discovered already.
I would also demand that all wasted money be repaid, and those responsible be held accountable, and fired with out pensions or benefits of any kind.
So exactly what do you know about how that money was spent? Or this city? Or the desecration of closing down all the manufacturing plants and lack of jobs?
Please explain to me as I sit here in Baltimore. I am doing research here. I have quite a bit of data maybe I can help you.
#2 Maybe you can Dewey… and that would be welcome.
Want to find waste? Audit the fed and the pentagon!
So again exactly where did that money go and what was the waste?
You know Baltimore political system Maryland in general is corrupt for decades. But you need to publish what was corrupt.
The people of Baltimore have dealt with corrupt politicians for decades.
So want to stop the biggest heist of the century? Called our sovernghty? Want to fight the president? Thisis the 1st Time I agree with la malfa, You need to help us. Big Money made 13 turncoat senators in the senate the house is next, you see a bought out politician has no party
the Senate just voted 65-33 to fast track the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). This is incredibly disappointing, but the fight against TPP is still on in the House of Representatives.
Currently, there are not enough Republican votes to pass fast track, but House Democrats are feeling the pressure from the White House to make up the difference.
Whether we win or lose on fast track now hinges on how many members of the House stand up for working people and say “no” to a secret corporate trade deal that you and I are not allowed to read.
Please take a few minutes to call your member of the House of Representatives today at the number below, and leave the following message:
Rep. Doug LaMalfa
