Intelligence Investigation…What’s Going On Here?

It’s no longer a question of whether various departments of the government are run by political animals…we know they are. We have seen evidence of it in the overdrive activities of the IRS and the EPA under President Obama’s Imperialist administration. The original story made me wonder if the complaining intelligence officers were acting as true whistle blowers…on the side of the people and the Constitution.

The original allegation was that senior officials were altering reports on the war. Fifty intelligence officers demanded an investigation by the Pentagon’s Inspector General. Today I saw a second story alleging nefarious activities at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) that reports both a republican and a democrats have expressed concern:

“We are deeply concerned about these allegations and want to ensure that intelligence provided to key decision makers properly reflect the expert analysis produced by our Intelligence Community (IC) professionals,” Rep.Jason Chaffetz of Utah, Republican chairman of the House oversight committee, said in a letter to Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter and Pentagon Inspector General John Rymer.

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said the allegations are being taken “seriously.”

“We do take seriously any allegations of the mishandling or manipulation of intelligence information for purposes other than getting to ground truth,” Schiff said Tuesday. “In the wake of the flawed intelligence prior to the Iraq war, we must make sure that all voices are appropriately considered and that assessments are never again politicized.” (emphasis mine)

“Flawed intelligence became the anti-war buzzword of the left within a year of 911. It has been used again and again by the left not to “make sure that all voices are appropriately considered,” but to discredit GWB and the war. Evidence of this politicization is clear since Democrats like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Madelaine Albright, Diane Feinstein and others had the same intelligence and expressed agreement with the decision to go to war in Iraq. So it occurred to me that this might not be a legitimate bunch of whistle blowers. It could be a ploy by politicized department heads to excuse the failures of the Obama administration, i.e., the mess that’s been made in the ME isn’t due to Obama’s policy failures…it’s that he was working off of false intelligence information! In this case, of course, Obama would be portrayed as a victim instead of a villain.

I know, it sounds far fetched…this administration wouldn’t purposely manipulate the narrative to fool the American people and signal the press.

Or would they?

Time will tell if this is a legitimate complaint or if it is a political ploy. It’s going to be a challenge to evaluate those running for election next year…keep a sharp eye, don’t jump t conclusions but also don’t be afraid to explore the possibilities. Our future may depend on your careful consideration not only of the politicians but also of those in our government and media who take sides.
