A federal appeals court panel prohibited President Obama Monday from proceeding with his executive attempt to block deportation of some five million illegal immigrants and grant them work permits.

In a 2-1 decision the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in New Orleans, upheld a March injunction by a Texas federal judge barring the Obama administration from proceeding with its own controversial immigration measures.

The appeals judges agreed with the lower court that Texas and 25 other states challenging Obama’s attempted executive action were likely to succeed and would incur immense costs if the administration’s plans were allowed to proceed pending a final court resolution.

The lower court also said the administration’s steps undermined the authority of Congress and were not launched properly.

This isn’t the end of the battle but it is a positive for those who think our laws and our Constitution should be respected.

According to the Washington Post, the Department of Homeland Security had planned to have a digitized system in place in 2013, at a cost of $500 million. But here it is, the end of 2015, and after pouring more than $1 billion, DHS now says it needs another four years and $2.1 billion to get it finished.

At stake is more than just wasted money. The existing immigration system is ancient and deeply flawed, causing agonizing delays for those who should be granted legal status, while making it harder for DHS to screen out security threats.

And who is to blame for this disaster? Much of the fault rests with the Obama administration, which has, after all, been in charge of the project for almost seven years.

While I agree that, as president, Barack Obama gets the credit for this incompetent waste of public money it is really the gigantic bureaucracy, much of which is unaccountable, for the waste and non-delivery of a good electronic system.

In the private sector this project would have been done much quicker and at a lot less cost.

A new president will have an incredible opportunity to right the system and bring some control over the unarmed illegal invasion problem that’s gotten much worse since 911. It will take courage and leadership however.

It is pleasant to see Obama get tripped up on his illegal executive orders. I hope this becomes a trend.

    From today’s Washington Times:
“A federal appeals court said President Obama’s own words claiming powers to “change the law” were part of the reason it struck down his deportation amnesty, in a ruling late Monday that reaffirmed the president must carry out laws and doesn’t have blanket powers to waive them.”

A stinging rebuke to someone who supposedly taught Constitutional Law.
Or is that claim – since his college records are sealed – just another in the long list of Obumble’s lies?

“Supposedly” is the operative word on that. If he really taught Constitutional Law, why is there no record of it? Why is there not a single faculty member or former student to verify it? Why has the press not scrutinized it? Notice that the lefty press claimed Carson made up the story about a non-existent class that he took in college. However, Carson came up with a syllabus of the class even after all these years.

Dewey you asked, “Why Has President Obama Deported More Immigrants Than Any President in US History?”

Answer: President Obama [has] more illegal immigrants to deport than any other president in US history by a huge margin. He could be deporting 100X more and still not make a dent in the total number. It’s that massive. If you look at what percentage that are here illegally that get deported, then Obama scores an F-.
