The governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, has suspended plans to welcome Syrian refugees to his state:
“Given the terrible situation in Paris, I’ve directed that we put on hold our efforts to accept new refugees until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security completes a full review of security clearances and procedures,” Snyder said in a statement released by his office on Sunday.
“Michigan is a welcoming state and we are proud of our rich history of immigration,” the statement said. “But our first priority is protecting the safety of our residents.”
In Florida, while on the campaign, trail Bobby Jindal called for closing our borders and was roundly applauded:
The audience’s loud approval was a sort of vindication for Jindal. Earlier this year, after a trip to London, he had been criticized for saying that Muslims had turned some European ghettos into “no-go zones.” Even London’s conservative mayor Boris Johnson denounced Jindal. Nearly a year later, he was joining a chorus of Republicans calling for a halt to refugees from Syria and tighter control over who can enter the United States.
Presidential hopefuls Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina and Mike Huskabee also schooled the press in that last article.
“If you look at the early waves of refugees that have flooded into Europe,” Cruz said, “one estimate was that 77 percent of those refugees were young men. That’s a very odd demographic for a refugee wave. The director of national intelligence here in America has said of those refugees in Europe, it is clear that a significant number of them may well be ISIS terrorists. It makes no sense whatsoever for us to be bringing in refugees who our intelligence cannot determine if they are terrorists here to kill us or not.”
In a later CNN interview, Huckabee brushed aside the idea that he was being extreme.
“Send us your weary — isn’t that what the United States is all about?” asked host Michael Smerconish.
“Yeah, but it doesn’t say send us your terrorists,” Huckabee retorted. “For goodness sake, Michael!”
“I am angry that President Obama unilaterally decides that we’ll accept up to 100,000 Syrian refugees while his administration admits we cannot determine their ties to terrorism,” said former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
Rand Paul took the occassion to criticize Rubio for squashing his addendum to the immigration bill, the “Trust But Verify Act,” which was a “screening proposal.”
Thank you Bobby Jindal – that’s a good start!
States should start looking at protecting their residents on other issues since what passes for leadership in DC has failed miserably.
And that includes telling the Foolish Feds NO on many “mandates”- especially those UNFUNDED mandates that come so frequently from DC.
Playing into their hands. That is their said plan. fear the United States into bashing Muslims so they come home angry at the USA, fear Americans in to going bankrupt on these wars.
Truth be told we created the rise of IS and armed them. Now we need a 30 year endless war while the CIA arms them? Get with it.
ya said you wanted lists as they come out? Here is a list of IS fighters

Anon has declared war on the IS and this will prove to be more useful than you may realize. Their sites, emails, ect are being hacked and taken down as we speak.
Where is that picture of John McCain and the terrorists again? The CIA and military industrial complex are responsible for this.
Fear is silly. This is an unavoidable war now. The Gifts of GW’s Iraq war just keep giving. Closing the Borders does nothing they train citizens using playstations ect. The new cyberwar declared by the Anons will do more than people realize.
Never forget the decades that lead up to these wars. Fear mongering is the result they want. I will not be a slave of fear for the IS.
BTW The IS also said they want to fear America into taking away more rights. Let America become an authoritarian surveillance state the world hates.
Declassified US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) report confirms that the US and other western governments allied themselves with al-Qaeda and other Islamic extremist groups to oust Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad. They suspected the consequences of this tactic would lead to the rise of an “Islamic State.”

You assume a lot, Dewey. Neither fear nor bigotry has a thing to do with any of this. If you weren’t so contentious you might find we can agree on many things.
The progressive activist complex is destroying the entire world. It has weakened the western nations economically and psychologically.
Progressives play right into the hands of the enemy . They share many of the same values as the enemy…intimidation and attempts to silence others, bossy authoritarian attitudes, bullying tactics, intolerance of opinions, ignorance and disdain for American ideals and the inability to tell right from wrong, evil from good.
Dewey I’d say you’re a slave to conspiracy and to your own arrogant attitude. It makes you first on one side, then the other, then in a box all by yourself. You are all over the map. “Bottom line” you imagine you could fix everything but never share with us the “how” of it.
At this point the past and finger pointing is a fairly useless exercise. It is exactly what happens when strong leadership is absent.
LOL Facts are conspiracy to you!
Try reading the statements from Bin laden and The IS. Those are facts written and documented. Why are you always pretending like the real world does not exist. These things are common knowledge.
It’s like you are in a real news time warp. Let alone defending the last conservative president who caused this mess! heck even Putin is declaring other countries and the billionaires funded the IS. it’s like you refuse to read declassified docs because they do not prove what the Conservative propaganda machine has written.
Strong leadership is not found on the right that is for sure. Just More lies and profit wars.
Bottom Line “War is a racket” Gen Smedley Butler 1934
Beware of the Military Industrial Complex – Gen Eisenhower
The rise of the IS is a creation of the US invasion in Iraq. The Conservative GW Admin gift that keeps on giving

The document says right at the top, “Information Report, Not Finally Evaluated Intelligence” and its from the Defense Department. Much of it is redacted or missing.
Good grief Dewey, whats the point?
Good grief Tina! You will never get it. I suppose you still think the terrorists John McCain took a picture with are good friends of the USA!
Dewey the so-called damning document you posted a link to was likely part of a briefing to the president or other agencies…the information was for consideration…it is not information written in stone…it is not considered “fact.”
Re: McCain: Why do you suppose stupid things?
That is your problem. You live in your head. You respond to what you imagine about others than to what they communicate.
HINES v. DAVIDOWITZ, (1941)
The supremacy of the national power in the general field of foreign affairs, including power over immigration, naturalization and deportation, is made clear by the Constitution.” States do not get to overrule the federal government on matters such as this one.

ARIZONA, ET AL., PETITIONERS v. UNITED STATES.
The United States may wish to allow a foreign national to remain within its borders, the Court explained, because the individual’s home nation “may be mired in civil war, complicit in political persecution, or enduring conditions that create a real risk that the alien or his family will be harmed upon return.”

States still retain the power to deny their own resources to the federal government, so they could potentially make settlement of refugees more difficult than it would be if the states cooperated.
Act of Congress — the Refugee Act of 1980 — has given Obama broad discretion to allow refugees to be admitted into the United States. The states of Texas, Louisiana and others must yield to that act.
Governors have the right to express displeasure with the President’s policies especially when they are standing on solid ground in their objections. A governor has the obligation to represent the citizens of his state to other elected officials throughout the nation, including the President. You can bet these governors got an earful after the Paris attacks and watching the refugee situation in Europe.
“The states of Texas, Louisiana and others must yield to that act.”
Not without a fight!
This IS still America and Obama is NOT the king.
“States still retain the power to deny their own resources to the federal government ”
This is an interesting development. If they wanted to get serious could they refuse to send collected tax monies? What else could they deny the federal government?
When are we going to discuss Rick Snyder and his dictatorship?
Removing power from elected in African American communities installing a manager with unilateral power as the Governor?
Stealing a Public Beach to build a PGA Golf Course in Benton harbor?
Or the most current situation in Flint where residents were poisoned from drinking water? Where the let the states handle it Gov could not handle the task of distributing water to residents. The national guard was deployed to distribute water?
Another failed Tea Party Politician. Frankly he needs any legal action available to be used against him.
This is the conservative model you think is so great? Tyranny comes but it is not from Obama.
