Refugees, Must We Take Them In?

According to the Daily Mail, ISIS has plenty of money to fund terrorists traveling with refugees:

The vast wealth generated by oil fields, power plants, extortion, taxes, and the pillaging of antiquities has rendered ISIS the most well-funded terrorist group in history, experts have warned.

With an estimated £1.3billion fortune, the group can afford not only to pay foreign fighters who join its cause in the Middle East, but easily expand beyond its borders to launch attacks in the West. Obama says he will send refugees to 180 towns across America…but Washington DC won’t be one of them. Other high end cities (San Francisco, New York) will also escape the influx of people needing social services and education for their kids. What a guy! As Mark Krikorian of National Review points out, “refugee resettlement can be a huge unfunded mandate.”

Obama’s attitude: Oh well.

It was reported today that one of the attackers “is believed to have been a terrorist who posed as a refugee, gaining entry to the European Union through Greece in October and then traveling to Paris.”

Members of the progressive left media, backing the President, are hysterical over objections. That includes FOX’s Shepard Smith. For these mental midgets there is only one way of looking at this, unfettered entry:

On Tuesday’s Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski went off on a number of governors who have vocally expressed their opposition to allowing Syrian refugees into their state without a proper vetting process, calling their views “hateful” and “stupid.” The MSNBC host accused the governors, which include Democrat Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, of “tapping into hatred” for daring to suggest that the federal government should press the pause button on allowing any new refugees into this country until we fully know who they are. Scarborough agreed.

Despite liberal protestations, resistance by the American people to accept refugees is growing. As of this morning 27 states and one governor elect have declared they do not want refugees in their states. The LA Times reports:

By late Monday, states refusing Syrian refugees included Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

Kentucky’s Republican governor-elect, who will take office next month, also refused. Governors noted that at least one of the Paris attackers had what appeared to be a Syrian passport.

Speaker Ryan announced the creation of a task force” made up of the Republican chairmen from the Homeland Security, Armed Services, Intelligence, Appropriations, Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees.” Ryan tasks them with crafting legislation concerning the refugee issue and possible security measures:

“This is a moment where it is better to be safe than to be sorry, so we think the prudent, the responsible thing is to take a pause in this particular aspect of this refugee program in order to verify that terrorists are not trying to infiltrate the refugee population.”

CAIR has denounced the stance of the governors as “un-American.” Is it? Obama has said these don’t reflect American values. Really? There are ways to be humane and accepting; this ain’t it.

A Syrian refugee has gone missing in Louisiana. President Obama is here to help. He plans to make gun control a top priority in his final year: “President Obama hopes to make gun control the top issue of his final year in office, saying Americans aren’t more violent than other people but they ‘have more deadly weapons to act out their rage.'”

If Obama thinks a nation protected by the second amendment and under threat from Islamic extremist murderers is going to let this weak, apologetic, lecturing president get away with that, he’s delusional. If he wants to see what a real activist nation looks like….well, just keep pushing the envelope, sir!

Is the President even telling the truth when he tells the people that he will vet the refugees? It’s hard to believe his rhetoric is genuine considering his past record, not only on illegal border crossings, but on refugees. Back in 2014 the President “eased the rules” to admit Syrian refugees:

President Barack Obama’s administration announced on Wednesday that it had eased some immigration rules to allow more of the millions of Syrians forced from their homes during the country’s three-year civil war to come to the United States. …

… The rules changes granted exemptions on a case by case basis to the “material support” bar in U.S. immigration law, according to an announcement in the Federal Register signed by Secretary of State John Kerry and Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security.

That bar had made it impossible for anyone who had provided any support to armed rebel groups to come to the United States, even if the groups themselves receive aid from Washington.

I think we all know we cannot trust this president.

Okay. Can we stop the President’s feckless ISIS enabling posture? Do the people have a voice or does the President have unfettered authority to force the refugees on states that do not want them?

We do have an election approaching but that’s a year away. We the people are on our own. We have to find ways to thwart this menace to our nation in any way we can over the next year. Do the American people have any solid ground on which to stand? Andrew McCarthy schools anyone who will bother to listen and learn. Yes, a case could be made for impeachment. But it’s unlikely to happen. America can still count on a few good men even if they are Democrats to criticize the President.

Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton, an Iraq war combat veteran, blasted the Obama administration’s anti-ISIS strategy.

“I don’t think we have this long-term strategy,” he said.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, Moulton argued that he is “not confident that we have” a “comprehensive plan to defeat ISIS.”

“I’ve said for some time that ISIS is a national security threat to the United States and to our allies and … We’re putting troops on the ground, we’re dropping bombs but we need to talk about how we’re going to fill the political vacuums in the Middle East that allowed ISIS to flourish.” (RELATED: CNN Analyst: Obama Shouldn’t Nix ‘The Only Strategy That’s Working’ Against ISIS [VIDEO])

“I last served in Iraq during the surge and we actually got Iraq to a relatively stable place but then we pulled out,” explained Moulton. “We pulled those political advisers out of the ministries, out of the prime minister’s office and the Iraqi government went off the rails so much so that its own army didn’t trust them.”

“And as a result we’re sending troops back into Iraq just five years after we left. I went back to Iraq in February as a member of the Armed Services Committee and it was disheartening to see so much of what we fought for and frankly achieved, just gone to waste because we didn’t have a political (Continues)

There’s a lot to absorb. The Russian airliner was downed by a bomb. Soccer stadiums in Europe have been targeted. Sorry times…sorry times. If we have nothing else we have our voices…make sure you keep saying loud and proud, I won’t back down!. (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers)

  1. Cotton says:

Yes you do. That’s the way the liberals want it!

  2. Tina says:

Hey, Cotton thanks for dropping by.

Of course you’re right, that is the way the liberals want it.

It would make my day if we could get neutral folks that don’t pay much attention to politics to wake up a little and understand this isn’t just about bombs. It’s about our freedoms.

  3. Pie Guevara says:

I do not have a problem with taking in refugees, I do have a problem with the liar narrative coming out of the Obama administration that they are “vetted.”

    • Tina says:

I just don’t believe Obama’s concerned about it one way or another. He is activist first and being president is somewhere down on the list, who knows where or to what exact end.

I feel for people caught in this terrible mess. I wish we had a leader; had we, we might have avoided a lot of suffering and setback.

One thing I’ve noticed is that those issuing lectures about Syrian fleeing a war zone show little empathy for the Israelis who have lived with bombs for decades. Phony bunch!

  4. Post Scripts says:

America has been a traditional home for war refugees, but in this case, we better have a very good policy in place (1) to honestly background them as best we can and (2) to deport them quickly if they pose the slightest risk to security.

Given what terrorists have promised and the means they do it with, I don’t think we should be in any hurry to let refugees in that fit the terrorist profile. Male, Muslim, 16-35, Middle Eastern.

    • Tina says:

Peggy I read something today about the organizations that “sponsor” illegals crossing our borders. It said quite often they merely show them how to apply for our services and then have nothing more to do with them. legal immigrants need a sponsor , or they did, that would usher them toward becoming a contributing citizen, usually a relative.

The treatment of these Christians is deplorable. It represents another piece of evidence that this administration’s agenda is anti-American and bigoted.

Heard Newt on the radio…look forward to hitting that link…tomorrow! I’m off to bed. Night all.

    • Chris says:

Peggy, there is no evidence the administration is discriminating against refugees of any religion (unlike many of your candidates who have suggested we should only take in members of their religion). The candidates are being sent back to Europe because they lied about their circumstances, according to FOX News::

“Yet Mack said that there are legal immigration protocols that need to be followed for family sponsorships, which, in this case, were not adhered to by the Chaldeans. Under international law, asylum is only granted in specific emergency situations in which an individual or group requires protection from persecution. A select few of the criminal complaints against the Chaldeans, provided to FoxNews.com by ICE, contain statements and allegations that at least some of them – although born in Iraq – held German passports and had been living there for a number of years. In interviews with officials, some applicants allegedly admitted that their claims of family threats were “fabricated” to assist with their applications. Details regarding the remaining Chaldeans could not be discussed due to the confidentiality of their applicants.”

      • Tina says:

There are indications that this administration discriminates by color, religion, and race. He takes the side of blacks over whites in criminal cases before knowing the facts. He refuses to name the religion that is associated with terrorists but has no problem shaming Christians for the Crusades. He uses the Justice Department against the state of Arizona, claiming racism. Their crime? Trying to adhere to US immigration law…federal law!!!!! His administration relaxed rules to take in Syrian refugees:

Only 31 Syrian refugees – out of an estimated 2.3 million – were admitted in the fiscal year that ended in October, prompting demands for change from rights advocates and many lawmakers.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrians have been taken in by neighboring countries such as Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

The rules changes granted exemptions on a case by case basis to the “material support” bar in U.S. immigration law, according to an announcement in the Federal Register signed by Secretary of State John Kerry and Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security.

That bar had made it impossible for anyone who had provided any support to armed rebel groups to come to the United States, even if the groups themselves receive aid from Washington.

Rights advocates can voice objections and demands and the President accommodates them. They are not shamed or called “un-American” even when he would have to ignore or alter rules to grant their demands.

The President support the militant “Black Lives Matter” movement. They’re busy intimidating students on campuses across the country who don’t agree to join the group. There are countless examples of leftist agitators creating a racist event so they can claim discrimination and make broad false claims against whites, cops, republicans and conservatives and the President is always right there lecturing the nation as a whole over a localized incident about which he has no complete information.

We aren’t going to put up with this clap trap. These accusations are specious. Coming from the President of the United States they are unconscionable.

Chris is grossly mistaken and should apologize for the constant claims that opinions expressed here are racist or bigoted. he should turn his attention on the perpetrator of all of this chaos and division….the President and the party he supports.

    • Tina says:

Peggy we need more than a link on that one. The content deserves more attention:

They had crossed the border from Mexico seeking asylum from Islamic State terrorists in Iraq. These refugees have families in America who will take care of them, but the Obama Administration refuses to let them leave the detention center.

The Obama Administration welcomes illegal aliens from Mexico and other nations to cross into the U.S. without any problem, but seems to have a problem with Christians fleeing Muslim terrorism.

Mark Arabo, an advocate fo itwr these Chaldeans, told Bill O’Reilly recently:

“It seems like the border is open to everyone unless you’re an Iraq Christian fleeing ISIS.

This information makes Obama’s lectures today even more insulting and despicable. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  5. Dewey says:

LOL this President is as fr from an activist as one can get hence TPP, Bankers not going to jail, ect ect.

You guys are digging at straws.

Bottom Line terrorists attacks are going to happen. The right has accepted terrorist attacks by white Christians and crazies.

I find it interesting there was never any discussion on domestic terrorism such as Dylan Roof.

I find it sad the Talk by the right is playing right into IS hands. You guys are giving them exactly what they wanted. They are cheering as you play the hate game. I am 100% embarrassed by the media and the governors. The world is disgusted by the USA and so am I. Hate in America is more important than life, liberty, and justice for all.

This is not nazi Germany and half the country is not the enemy of the right.

The IS state wins, they created fear mongering and more hate. Playing Americans is the easiest thing in the world they are 100% correct on that.

I see more domestic terrorist attacks but that seems to be OK with the right.

    • Tina says:

The TTP isn’t a done deal yet Dewey…don’t run off the rails ahead of time. Congress has 90 days, beginning November 5th, to reject it.

Bankers did not go to jail because they did not break any laws. They followed the laws that were on the books. The crash was a result of dumb regulations and policy based on politics:

The key then to understanding the recent crisis is to see why markets offered inordinate rewards for poor and risky decisions. Irrational exuberance played a part, but perhaps more important were the political forces distorting the markets. The tsunami of money directed by a US Congress, worried about growing income inequality, towards expanding low income housing, joined with the flood of foreign capital inflows to remove any discipline on home loans. And the willingness of the Fed to stay on hold until jobs came back, and indeed to infuse plentiful liquidity if ever the system got into trouble, eliminated any perceived cost to having an illiquid balance sheet.

I’d reverse the order of emphasis — credit expansion first, housing policy second — but Rajan is right that government intervention gets the blame all around.

“The right has accepted terrorist attacks by white Christians and crazies. ”

      Name them!

We are not playing a “hate” game,” Dewey. Suggesting such inane thing just shows you have infantile, possibly bigoted, thinking processes.

If you are disgusted by America then leave!

The world is disgusted by the feckless President of the U.S.A. He has become a joke among the leaders of nations that have found him lacking in the skills needed to perform his duties!

Half the country made the right their enemy! It began overtly with the Impeachment of Nixon which was followed by countless show trials. it was accomplished with the assist for many decades of a one voice media that promoted left bigotry and lies toward the right. Rules for Radicals was the bedtime story the left told to the future agitators and antagonists they groomed to wreak havoc in America.

Obama empowers IS every time he opens his mouth. IS has grown and expanded under his watch…apologizing send the message that they are right to blow people up and bring sharia to the world. His deal with Iran FUNDS THEM!

Americans aren’t being played…our President is (purposely) playing into their plans.

“I see more domestic terrorist attacks but that seems to be OK with the right.”

Prove that specious accusation or be called a mud slinging, hateful coward!

    • Steve says:

“I find it sad the Talk by the right is playing right into IS hands ”

Dewey, I call BULLSH$T. If anything, Obama’s Sectary of State John Kerry calling the Charlie Hebdo attack legitimate is what plays into ISIS hands. You elected these fools, the disgrace is on your hands.

      • Chris says:

Wow, you make deliberately taking people out of context to misrepresent them look like a lot of fun! Let me try:

Steve: “I call…the Charlie Hebdo attack legitimate”

Hm. That didn’t really do anything for me. Maybe I’m too honest.

    • Tina says:

Dewey is delusional. We have discussed many of the domestic attacks on this blog. they usually devolve into leftists butt associating them with the right (Tea Party) or Christians (Does Dewey even know Christians are also Democrat?) and we find out later they were Schitzophrenic or loosely influenced or associated with left wing nuts or anarchists.

“To pretend you have no idea there are domestic terrorists under their brand of Christianity is not honest.”

I was not pretending anything, Dewey. You made a non-specific accusation and I asked you to name the groups or incidents specifically. To pretend that their is an equivalency between persons acting alone and committing crimes of mass murder and terrorists is not something I can let you get away with doing.

Come on hot shot…name the terrible groups in America that threaten the world with murder, terror, religious conversion, and total domination as ISIS now does. Put up or shut up.

  6. J. Soden says:

Have no problem accepting Syrian refugees, but only if they’re truly vetted. We can’t even get a list of valid passports from Syria, so how do we know which are real – since fake ones are flooding Europe???
And, unfortunately, Obumble’s “rigorous vetting” means checking Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to see if they have accounts so he can send them selfies from his golf cart.

  7. Steve says:

No Syrian refugees. Period. Whether or not we have domestic terrorism occurring here we certainly don’t need to invite more of it. Saudi Arabia should be pressured to take more of them in first, now that France has had their fill. These are not people who will enhance our way of life.
When I see liberals offering to take refugees into their own homes I’ll consider it.

  8. Tina says:

Steve under different leadership this would have been negotiated long ago. This President is a disaster. I hate to see it and I hate to say it but the people are culpable for electing this guy…particularly the second time…fool me once.

  9. Dewey says:

Tina I names a few on the other post. To pretend you have no idea there are domestic terrorists under their brand of Christianity is not honest.

Folks it takes about 18 months for the refugees to get vetted. The Attackers were French and Belgian citizens. Why would a terrorist go through all those months of vetting when they can send those who have citizenship from countries where they can easily get a visa and fly here in a day?

Bottom Line we will never be 100% safe. Besides the fact we have to combat them look at who is funding them, buying their oil, ect ect, Is Putins List correct? One thing for sure is Billionaires always fund these guys. Now France has their own patriot act that limits their Liberty? The big picture is what we need to concentrate on.

What caused the rise of the IS? I will never forget. We need to correct our path as well.

    Move on.

  10. Tina says:

Dewey in case you missed it on the other thread…I have not pretended a thing. You imagined it.

“Why would a terrorist go through all those months of vetting when they can send those who have citizenship from countries where they can easily get a visa and fly here in a day?”

Why is it easier for a terrorist to just fly in than a refugee?

The neat thing for terrorists about a flood of refugees is that it makes it easier for them to hide in our country.

What is eighteen months to a terrorist when the strategy is ongoing and ambitious?

Why do you imagine silly, erroneous ideas about my positions but lack the ability to imagine the various ways terrorists use to infiltrate and attack us from within?
