Obama Blasts GOP Hopefuls’ Refugee Rhetoric as ‘Potent Recruitment Tool’ for ISIS, Mocks Them for Being ‘Scared of Widows and Orphans’

“When candidates say we shouldn’t admit 3-year-old orphans, that’s political posturing. When people say we should have a religious test, and only Christians, proven Christians, should be admitted, that’s offensive, and contrary to American values,” Obama added in another veiled reference – this time to GOP hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz, who has suggested a Christians-only refugee policy.

Obama continued, mocking the GOP candidates for being “scared of widows and 3-year-old orphans” and for their complaints about CNBC moderators at a Republican debate earlier this month. obama2345

“These are the same folks oftentimes who suggest that they’re so tough that just talking to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin or staring down ISIL or using some additional rhetoric somehow is going to solve the problems out there,” he said. “But apparently, they’re scared of widows and 3-year-old orphans.”

Donald Trump on Tuesday released an Instagram video blasting the president’s plan, in which he said, “Refugees are pouring into our great country from Syria – we don’t even know who they are, they could be ISIS, they could be anybody. What’s our president doing? Is he insane?”

No he’s not insane, quite the contrary. Look at what he’s accomplished: He’s reduced the middle class to near poverty, with more food stamps than ever in our history. He’s kept jobs and new industry at bay with regulations and taxation. He’s indebted America so much with bailouts that now the country has no equity, we’re essentially broke. And there are more unfunded mandates headed our way just to make sure can’t recover for many years to come. He’s almost single handedly ruined the world’s greatest healthcare system. Terrorism, has never been more prolific, nor posed a greater threat than on his watch. Obama has done everything possible to help America’s enemies and Israel’s enemies too. Everything is going according to plan, and right on schedule and he’s toss in a racial divide just for extra credit. 8 years ago who could have ever believed one man could have done so much damage and yet still be loved by so many oblivious morons who call themselves progressives? It’s been a stunning ride down, hasn’t it? Obama has done what the cold war could not.

Even Jimmy Carter thinks this president has been terrible for America.

  1. Dewey says:

You can add me to that list. The candidates earned it.

Somehow you do not see what the majority in the world see, idiots of bigotry and hate.

Now we have Trump – When asked about having a national registry required for all Muslims by a yahoo reporter he did not say no. To clarify the point a local NBC reporter in Iowa asked him in a ropeline. he said yes. Then implied the country needs a manager.

A manager to rule the people like maybe say….Hitler who registered Jews? Yea right. Trump also implied we need to remove freedoms.

That reporter went to a second ropeline and asked Trump how that was different than Hitler registering Jewish people? he never answered or walked it back. That reporter reached out to the Trump campaign after the exchange and gave them a chance to walk it back. They said no.

These candidates can take their walls and authoritarian rule and put it where the sun does not shine.

We are not going to elect ourselfs into authoritarian fascism.

I do not stand by the President on everything, I do stand by his freedom to speak as he sees it and in this case he is absolutely correct.

  2. Chris says:

He didn’t infer they were cowards, he implied it. You inferred it.

And he’s right. We’ve never had a refugee commit a terrorist attack in our country. All of our terrorists have either been homegrown or have immigrated here in other ways. So if Republicans are going to talk about the huge risk of terrorism posed by refugees, it would be nice if they could give one example of a refugee committing a terrorist act.

    • Pie Guevara says:

Oh, for crying out loud. Obama with his usual bullshit inferred the coward status to begin with and did not imply it afterwards, he came right out and said it.

You are as annoying as the snotty jerk who currently occupies the White House.

  3. Chris says:

In the 1930s many said we should not help Jewish refugees out of fear they might be Nazi spies. Was that the right decision?

  4. Tina says:

Obama must be scared of widows and orphans,” cause back in 2011 he was willing to betray our values.

Thomas Lifson of American Thinker explains, quoting Sean Hannity, the Federalist, and ABC News:

But in 2011, by his own standards, Obama was betraying “our deepest values.” Sean Hannity reports: ” The Obama administration actually stopped processing Iraqi refugee requests for six months after two Iraqi-refugees were arrested on terrorism charges in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2011.

As TheFederalist.com points out, the U.S. State Department stopped processing the requests from Iraqi refugees in order to review and revamp security screening procedures.

In 2013 ABC News wrote: “As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets. One Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays, two U.S. officials said. In 2011, fewer than 10,000 Iraqis were resettled as refugees in the U.S., half the number from the year before, State Department statistics show.”

In 2013, left media Good Morning America, “Exclusive: US May Have Let ‘Dozens’ of Terrorists Into Country As Refugees”:

Several dozen suspected terrorist bombmakers, including some believed to have targeted American troops, may have mistakenly been allowed to move to the United States as war refugees, according to FBI agents investigating the remnants of roadside bombs recovered from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The discovery in 2009 of two al Qaeda-Iraq terrorists living as refugees in Bowling Green, Kentucky — who later admitted in court that they’d attacked U.S. soldiers in Iraq — prompted the bureau to assign hundreds of specialists to an around-the-clock effort aimed at checking its archive of 100,000 improvised explosive devices collected in the war zones, known as IEDs, for other suspected terrorists’ fingerprints.

“We are currently supporting dozens of current counter-terrorism investigations like that,” FBI Agent Gregory Carl, director of the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC), said in an ABC News interview to be broadcast tonight on ABC News’ “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline”.

Obama either doesn’t remember doing it or he hopes nobody else will.

Hows that left media covering conservatives calling for a pause after the Paris attack? Hmmmm?

Chris: “We’ve never had a refugee commit a terrorist attack in our country.”

Chris, the arrest at Bowling green happened before an attack could be carried out but refugees who turned out to be terrorists were apprehended and the President asked for a “pause.”

Is it necessary to lecture you, as you have lectured me, for not bothering to do research before making a comment?

Or can we finally stop playing that game?

  5. Tina says:

Jack apparently neither Dewey nor Chris read your post, “Dangers Posed by ISIS – A Must Read,” in which you quoted daily Mail and the CIA:

Obama hiding dangers – Nearly SEVENTY have been arrested in America over ISIS plots in the last 18 months – including refugees who had been given safe haven but ‘turned to terror.’ Federal and local law enforcement agencies have made dozens of arrests of men and women suspected of ISIS involvement Analysis shows that they include refugees who entered the United States as refugees. Dailymail.co.uk

How bad is the threat from ISIS? Experts say it’s extreme! The most current estimates by the CIA say about 22,000 foreign jihadists have joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria since fighting broke out in 2011. Many of them are still fighting in the conflict zone. However, a significant number have returned to their home countries as well trained and radicalized Muslim fighters for ISIS.

Those widows and orphans sure look like men. Over half flowing into Europe are fighting aged men.

Obama is a smug man…and a liar with terrific Saul Alinsky training!

    • Dewey says:

There is no credible source for that guys. Only RW blogs. So until there is an official source that story is 100% nothing to me.

      Domestic terrorism never discussed here?

Most Americans disagree with the conservative so called values which are hypocrisy at best. Even the Boston Tea Party was against corporate free taxes for the East Indian Tea company and monopolies.

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.

  6. Pie Guevara says:

The thing about Obama, Dewey, Chris, and the rest of the left is that they can make even an axe murdering serial killer cannibal look like a class act.

  7. Pie Guevara says:

    Meanwhile …

“He’s so cute – and very intelligent,” gushed local reporter Katherine Imson when asked why she had joined the crowd.

“Things got out of hand. But we expected it because he is one of the best-looking delegates,” said security officer Rico Mojica, who asked a friend to take a video of Trudeau while he tried to pacify the crowd.

“He held my hand!” shrieked one woman. Another woman broke away, looking close to collapse.

Evidently the Obama Effect is rubbing off on Trudeau after the Apec conference.

    I love the left. SWOON!

  8. J. Soden says:

When the likes of a proven serial liar starts criticizing you, you know you’re doing something right!
ISIS widows and orphans have also been known to wear explosive vests, mr prez. Tourists do not.

    • Dewey says:

Christians have been known to kill so should we gather them all up?

      • Pie Guevara says:

Christians who murder is a tiny aberration compared to the wholesale slaughters that can be attributed ISIS, you nit wit. Should we be rounding up Islamo-fascist terrorist who are a danger to all? Only when when they surrender, otherwise, destroy them all.

      • Tina says:

We aren’t “gathering up” Muslims….nor are we putting them in box cars, taking all of their possessions or sending them off to death camps. (What is wrong with you!!!)

We aren’t holding all Muslims accountable for this either…in fact we are trying to help a lot of them.

        Your question is nutty.

Have Christians joined together with the express purpose of terrorizing people and blowing them up? No.

Have Christians declared war on the US? No.

Have Christians vowed to bring this nation down and replace it with a theocratic, Christian, government, with control over judicial and social systems? No.

Have Christians threatened to target electrical grids and water/energy dams in America? No.

Have Christians threatened to blow up children in schools? No.

Have Christians threatened to blow up venues with large numbers of people in attendance? No.

Have Christians blown up military targets and personal? No.

Have all Muslims done the above? No

You tell me…since they don’t wear signs around their necks. How would you tell which ones are terrorists…and how would you describe them?

Okay…I must be bored now. This idiot question doesn’t merit a response.

        • Chris says:

I think Dewey may be referring to Trump’s recent comments that we register Muslims and make them carry special IDs.

But I don’t think it’s fair to assume the Republicans here would be in favor of such a clearly Nazi-like policy.

          • Tina says:

Chris Americans are registered through our SS numbers and drivers license numbers. The government has a data base they can use to track us any time they find it necessary. I see no problem with creating an identity data base for refugees and immigrants. We need to know who is in our country. We should have at least the same level of tracking for them as we have for any of us. No one has suggested making them wear an identifying symbol on their clothing for heavens sake.

It’s time to get serious about destroying the radical element that wants to terrorize and destroy us. We need to do whatever we can to accomplish that task. This is one good idea.

  9. Steve says:

The question of whether to allow tens of thousands of refugees from countries with extreme terrorist influences should be a strategic, not a political one. The question of where will they be housed and who will pay the bill, especially in light of having so many of our own homeless in this country, should also be asked.
Calling those who dare to ask these questions childish names is something I would expect from political activists. It pathetically petty coming from the mouth of a president. His words make light of the entire situation and tells me he doesn’t take any of it seriously, he’s just looking for ways to score cheap political points.

I’ve still yet to see an apology from the administration about the John Kerry gaffe. His statement on Charlie Hebdo, out of context or not, was complete lunacy. I thought these guys were supposed to be the professionals?

  11. Steve says:

Here’s some reading I found worthwhile on the whole subject:

    http://takimag.com/article/let_the_bastards_be_scared_david_cole/print#axzz3rsP8VM3C

Just a couple excerpts: “According to the Pew polling organization, 35% of French Muslims support, to one degree or another, “suicide bombing of civilian targets to defend Islam.” Among French Muslims ages 18–29, that figure climbs to 42%”

Also this: “In the wake of the Paris attacks, the West is left with two options. We can continue to believe that we have the power, through our actions, to eradicate Muslim extremism. We can continue to buy that line even in the face of decades of evidence to the contrary. We can continue to remain blind and deaf to the fact that there’s no action the West can take that hasn’t already been blamed for “radicalizing” Muslims. We’re told that we radicalized them by engaging in “nation building” in Iraq (“it’s our fault; we meddled in their internal affairs”), but we’re also told we radicalized them by not engaging in nation building after helping the Afghans defeat the Soviets (“it’s our fault; we just walked away without meddling in their internal affairs”). We’re told we radicalized them by attempting to remove a dictator by force (Iraq ’03) and by sanctions (Iraq in the ’90s), but we’re also told we radicalized them by not attempting to remove a dictator (“they hate us because for decades we backed Mubarak!”). We’re told we radicalize them domestically via intrusive government policies that “harass” their communities, but we’re also told we radicalize them by leaving their communities completely alone (“the Muslim slums of France are hotbeds of extremism due to years of government neglect!”). We’re told it’s all about the West’s support for Israel, even as Muslim terrorists attack nations that are hostile to Israel. We’re told it’s not about religion, merely foreign policy, even though the Muhammad cartoons led to protests throughout the Muslim world that were larger and more violent than any protests about Western foreign policy.

So sure, we can continue to believe that it’s all on us, or we can face the fact that it’s not us, it’s them. The Muslim world is afflicted with a sickness, a pathology, and whatever foreign-policy choices the West makes—and, no question, the West has made some very poor foreign-policy choices—it won’t stop radicalization. That will have to come from the Muslims themselves, and considering the appalling lack of introspection in the Muslim world, such internal healing is many, many years away.

In the meantime, the best course of action for the West is to severely limit Muslim immigration. That’s a no-brainer (so of course it won’t happen). And regarding Muslims who reside legally in the West (or who are native-born), we cannot allow ourselves to be guilt-tripped into believing that our healthy suspicions are “frightening” them into radicalization. Radicalization will continue whether we look out for our best interests or not, so we might as well look out for our best interests.”

    • Tina says:

      Great link, Steve!

One thing we are not doing, particularly with this president, is offering young people a better alternative.

Young men are more easily radicalized because the west looks like its failing, economically and in the war effort. We have a president who blames America, shames America, and betrays our values by agreeing that Islam must never be criticized, even terrorists cannot be accurately described as Islamic. We have a president that has empowered Iran, the worlds biggest sponsor and funding arm of Islamic terror. Obama’s message is clear…go fight for “ISIL,” we have nothing to offer you. He uses the term ISIL (Not ISIS) thus legitimizing their claim of statehood:

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL; Arabic: الدولة الإسلامية في العراق والشام‎), also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS, /ˈaɪsɨs/), the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham,[28] Daesh, or simply Islamic State (IS),[29] is a Wahhabi/Salafi jihadist extremist militant group, self-proclaimed to be a caliphate and Islamic state. It is led by and mainly composed of Sunni Arabs from Iraq and Syria. As of March 2015, it has control over territory occupied by 10 million people in Iraq and Syria, and through loyal local groups, has control over small areas of Libya, Nigeria and Afghanistan. The group also operates or has affiliates in other parts of the world, including North Africa and South Asia.[30][31][32][33][34][35]

The group is known in Arabic as ad-Dawlah al-Islāmiyah fī ‘l-ʿIrāq wa-sh-Shām, leading to the acronym Da’ish or Daesh (داعش, Arabic pronunciation: [ˈdaːʕiʃ]),[36][37] the Arabic equivalent of “ISIL”. On 29 June 2014, the group proclaimed itself to be a worldwide caliphate, with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being named its caliph, and renamed itself ad-Dawlah al-Islāmiyah (الدولة الإسلامية, “Islamic State” (IS)). As a caliphate, it claims religious, political and military authority over all Muslims worldwide, and that “the legality of all emirates, groups, states, and organisations, becomes null by the expansion of the khilāfah’s [caliphate’s] authority and arrival of its troops to their areas”.

The president recently announced to the world that we have the Islamic State “contained.” Nobody in the world believes that but it too sends a message that the West is not serious about defeating them.

The biggest recruitment tool the enemy has is our feckless president.

  12. Steve says:

This just in: Chris Matthews is suddenly questioning leftist foreign policy regarding the Syrian refugees.
In the first video, he wants to know why there’s 4 million refugees but only 4 men who volunteered to help fight ISIS.
    http://www.msnbc.com/hardball/watch/matthews–refugee-numbers-that-don-t-make-sense-568810051867

In the next video link he even questions whether or not a Dem Governor would be responsible for a terrorist attack by those the governor advocated for:
    http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/chris-matthews-democrat-governor-jack-markell/2015/11/17/id/702602/

Very interesting. I wonder if Chris Matthews will get the label of a Bigot now, or if he gets a pass like Bill Maher?

    • Post Scripts says:

I had not heard that before Steve, but it’s a good question, funny it should come Chris Matthews? I also heard the composition of the refugees has a lot men aged 17 to 45. Sacramento has been designated as a host city, probably because the of the mayor.

Didn’t I, myself, state categorically that this mindset was cowardly, just a week ago?

    Great minds …

  14. Tina says:

Libby, the dip s#!^ mindset isn’t a great alternative.

Taking protective measures isn’t cowardly. It’s the adult responsible thing to do.

Only a very young naive child would invite a bunch of strangers into his home.

Mom and Dad certainly wouldn’t train a kid to do that…especially if there were known predators already in the neighborhood.

  15. Pie Guevara says:

    Side Note —

Hamtramck, Michigan is the first Muslin majority city in the US according to WaPo. Once predominately Polish, the non-Muslim residents are concerned about their heritage and culture being overwhelmed. I won’t comment on that other than to say I sympathize with their concerns. No doubt the left will jump all over them as bigoted white supremacist racist Jews and Christians as this is how the left argues nearly everything.

I looked up Hamtrack and what I found of particular interest is that they identify themselves as “A touch of Europe in America!” I find that cosmically ironic in light of the mass invasion of Muslims into Europe in this century and the myriad of social, economic, and cultural problems they cause. Of course, for me to merely state these facts means to the brain-dead left and their Islamo-fascist pals that I am an “Islamophobe.”

    • Tina says:

Very nicely said Pie. I love it when you turn thoughtful in your comments.

I read about this little town over the weekend too. It’s the town that decided to allow the call to prayer five times a day awhile back. The Muslim community is in the process of building a tall minaret for that purpose. They’ve bought a large parcel of land in the commercial area of town but haven’t yet done anything with it. (Are they anticipating a large regional Islamic center?)

The mostly Polish population has done their best to be “inclusive” and now they’re beginning to feel like strangers in their own town…the mirror image to Europe is cosmically ironic.

A few years back towns across America were pressured to silence their church bells…that too is indicative of the times.

    Just breaking!

Bill Clinton refused to let Haitian refugees come to American and instead put them at Gitmo.

The Clinton solution for refugees: Guantanamo:

“Hillary Clinton has joined Barack Obama in accusing Republican of betraying American values for raising legitimate security concerns about admitted Syrian refugees, declaring last week that “slamming the door on refugees isn’t who we are.”

Funny, because when her husband was president, he “slammed the door” on refugees — the cell door at Guantanamo Bay.

In the early 1990s, tens of thousands of refugees fled Haiti and sought refuge in the United States following the military coup that overthrew President Jean Bertrand Aristide. They did not include Islamist terrorists, but many posed another perceived threat: They had HIV. Instead of admitting them into the United States, President Bill Clinton ordered the Haitian refugees be held at Guantanamo, and then repatriated back to Haiti.

During the 1992 election Clinton criticized President George H.W. Bush’s practice of repatriating Haitian refugees as “cruel” and “immoral,” and promised to end the practice. But after winning the presidency, Clinton reversed course, and tried to stop the Haitian exodus by declaring that the refugees would be intercepted and sent back to Haiti. It didn’t work, and eventually he decided to house tens of thousands of Haitian refugees in Guantanamo. A federal judge declared Clinton’s policy of detaining refugees at Gitmo “outrageous, callous and reprehensible” and criticized him for inflicting on the Haitians “the kind of indefinite detention usually reserved for spies and murderers.” After an American-led force restored President Aristide to power in 1994, the Clinton administration told the remaining refugees they had to return home, declaring: “Under no circumstances will any Haitian currently in Guantanamo be admitted to the United States.”

As Tide of Haitian Refugees Rises, U.S. Uses Cuban Base:

“WASHINGTON, June 29— The Coast Guard began taking hundreds of Haitian refugees to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba today, and picked up hundreds more who had fled their country in boats, as the Administration scrambled to cope with the sudden and unexpected surge.

Despite President Clinton’s pleas for Haitians to apply for refugee status in Haiti, the flood of people continued today as the Coast Guard picked up more than 520 refugees after intercepting 755 at sea on Tuesday. That brings to more than 3,000 the total number of Haitians stopped since Friday — far higher than the 2,329 Haitians the Coast Guard intercepted in all of 1993.

William H. Gray 3d, the President’s special adviser on Haiti, said the wave of refugees underlined the urgency of ousting Haiti’s military leaders, who seized power in September 1991. ”

“On May 9, President Bill Clinton announced major changes in US policy toward Haiti, reflecting increasing impatience with the failure of Haiti’s military leadership to restore democracy. ….

President Clinton said on May 19 that the possibility of a “massive outflow” of Haitians is the most important of the six reasons why the US may use force to restore democratically-elected president Aristide to power …”
