Bernie Sanders Shakes Up the DNC with Lawsuit Threat

Posted by Tina

Bernie Sanders decided to play hardball with his party. Apparently the DNC attempted to lock him out of the party’s database over a security dispute. The Sanders campaign was seeking “immediate restoration” of access to the database and damages exceeding $75,000:

NGP VAN — which in 2008 turned inappropriate information over to the Clinton campaign in what was said to be another glitch — said that even with the bug one campaign would not be able to export the data of another campaign — contradicting DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who told CNN that Sanders staffers “not only viewed it, but they exported it, and they downloaded it.”

Sanders’ camp confirmed in the lawsuit that “staffers who viewed the Disclosed Information were not able to save or copy the Disclosed Information due to restrictions and controls in the NGP VAN software.”

“The Campaign should not be punished for the carelessness of the DNC and its third-party vendor,” argues Sanders’ lawsuit.

The campaign estimated donation losses would be $600,000 a day. The DNC suspension came in the same week that Sanders passed two million donations — compared to Clinton’s 600,000 — and snagged endorsements from the Communications Workers of America and progressive group Democracy for America.

“The DNC’s unwarranted, unilateral suspension of the Campaign’s Voter Data access directly impacts one of the nation’s most important electoral races, and carries political implications on a national scale,” says the lawsuit. “The DNC should not be permitted to tip the scales of the Democratic presidential primary without clear justification and contractual cause. The fairness of this pivotal national election should not be compromised because of security flaws introduced by the DNC and its vendor.”

Fighting corruption with fire…I like that. Reminds me of another fiery contender, Ted Cruz. The only difference is Cruz is considered a “dangerous radical” and Bernie Sanders, an avowed radical socialist, will be praised as smart and tough.

It doesn’t get any better than this.

Politics as usual. We all know the DNC wants Hillary and only allowed Sanders and Independent to run on the Democrat ticket so it would look like she had an opponent.

Even their debates are on Saturday nights, the lowest TV viewed night of the week. The last one was the night of a major sport even and tonight’s is just days before Christmas and the busiest shopping day. So, what or should we ask who are they trying to hide from the public?

    Here is our next president.

The Demwit debate found Bernie claiming this wasn’t the first time they’d had an intrusion by the Clinton camp. I find it almost hilarious that $hrilLIARy made such a big deal out of it when SHE is unable to tell the truth!
Gotta feel sorry for the Demwits if Bernie & $hrilLIARy are the best they can offer. I don’t count O’Malley as a serious candidate. It’s more like he’s running for VP.

This is the best they can offer. I don’t feel sorry for them at all. I just wish Cherokee Elizabeth Warren and Ditzy Debbie had run, it would make the rat race so much entertaining.

Next chapter, Hillary “Goes for the jugular,” according to Politico:

In a shift of strategy hours before the third Democratic debate, Hillary Clinton’s campaign went for Bernie Sanders’ jugular, accusing his team of stealing valuable campaign data, misrepresenting what happened and inflicting “damage here that cannot be undone.”

The offensive came after the Sanders camp admitted its staffers reviewed, searched and saved data from Clinton’s voter file made accessible briefly Wednesday because of a data breach — and it represented a complete shift of tone in the Democratic race where the hits have remained impersonal and focused on the issues.

“This was not an inadvertent glimpse into our data,” campaign manager Robby Mook charged on a conference call with reporters Friday night. “The staffers did not make a mistake — they made 25 intentional searches of our data.” He said the breach struck at the heart of the campaign’s data “that took millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to build. The voter file…is the fundamental basis of our strategy.”

And Clinton’s team was angry that Sanders tried to fundraise off the incident by acting like he was a victim of the Democratic National Committee. “Stop politicizing and work to ensure that what took place is remedied,” Mook said, even dropping that Sanders campaign may have broken the law.

The offensive play didn’t end there. …

Who knows, it could be the dust up was designed to gin up interest in a debate held, as Peggy said, on a Saturday night just before Christmas in competition with the jets/Cowboys game.

They do seem to be hiding Hillary.

And here I was thinking that I was cynical! 😀

No, I think you and Peggy are onto something. They had to do something to get the media to pay attention to the dullsville debates.

Bernie apologized to Hillary during the debate.
