The American People: Government is Number One Problem

Polls are what they are, we all know they can’t be taken at face value, however just having a poll that puts government ahead of the economy, unemployment and immigration. (I suppose terrorism ranks #! but…?)

Investors cites a Gallup Poll:

“…public ranks “government” as the top problem facing America today. They put it above the economy, above unemployment, and way above immigration.

When Obama took office in 2009, government ranked fourth on the list of problems, but it has moved up steadily and has held the top spot for two years now. Government wasn’t even on the list of problems in George W. Bush’s last year in office.

Gallup’s data show that the share who rank government as their top concern climbed from 7% when Obama was sworn in to 16% in 2015.

In another sign of growing public dissatisfaction, our IBD/TIPP poll finds that 61% of Americans say they’d prefer a smaller government and fewer services to a bigger government with more services. Among independents, 68% feel that way. Only Democrats who want more government.

And according to another Gallup tracking survey , just 38% say they trust the government to handle domestic problems. That’s down from 51% when Obama took office. Only 45% now trust the government to handle foreign policy problems, down from 62% in Obama’s first year.

Trust in state governments, in contrast, is higher than it was in 2009.

Pew Research Center surveys find trust in government has hit record lows under Obama, while 62% say they are frustrated with the federal government. (Trust in government actually rose under Reagan, and under Bill “The Era Of Big Government Is Over” Clinton.)

How can this be? (continues)

Seven years of constant betrayal might offer a clue.

Well, well, well. Look what Doug LaMalfa just sent out on FB. I think it’s time for our gov’t to let the Hammonds out of prison.

Stockgrowers Question Federal Fire Double Standards:

The South Dakota Stockgrowers Association sent letters this week to congressional delegates, the U.S. Attorney General’s office and the South Dakota Attorney General’s office questioning what they call “egregiously unbalanced response of federal land management agencies” and supporting the claims South Dakota ranchers made for compensation after the 2013 Pautre Fire burned nearly 10,000 acres of federal and private land.

“There is a big double standard being applied in these government land agencies,” said Stockgrowers President Bill Kluck. “We cannot support the use of terrorism laws against a family ranch while forest service staff are just allowed to go about their day. We’re not questioning who set these fires, but we’re very worried about how the law is being used.”

The 2013 Pautre Fire in South Dakota burned over 10,000 acres, 3,000 of which was federally owned land and the rest was privately owned land. The U.S. Forest Service has refused to pay any damages and no employees have been charged with wrongdoing. Private landowners and ranchers affected by the blaze filed suit against the U.S. Forest Service last week after their claims for damage compensation were denied. The U.S. Forest Service ruled that the agency was not responsible for damages even though they intentionally set the fire, against recommendations from local ranchers and weather forecasters.

In the letter, President of the Association, Bill Kluck stated, “The kind of unchecked decision-making authority and lack of accountability from federal land management agencies as seen in the Pautre Fire, can and will be applied to other situations and likely at the expense of independent livestock producers and private property owners.”

SD Stockgrowers drew comparison to current satiation in Oregon where a father and son have been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison after a prescribed burn on their private property burned less than 140 acres of federal property. The family is required to pay $400,000 in damages and was prosecuted under the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996, which carries a minimum 5-year sentence.

“SD Stockgrowers Association supports full compensation to the ranchers who were harmed by the Pautre Fire, and believe that liability should be applied to the U.S. Forest Service the way the Hammond’s were held liable for setting that fire.”

“South Dakota Stockgrowers Association is very concerned about the lack of accountability and responsibility being applied to federal agencies in one case while private individuals are held to a much higher, and completely different level of responsibility in the other,” said Kluck.

“We are asking that our congressional delegates, the South Dakota Attorney General and U.S. Attorney’s office take a look at these cases to see how we can correct this injustice to the Hammond family and use their case to make sure that our South Dakota ranchers are able to hold the Forest Service accountable and liable for their actions on the Pautre Fire.”

Peggy the corruption and abuse in some (all) of these government agencies are looking an awful lot like the jack booted thuggery of totalitarian regimes. people laugh and slough it off…till it happens to them. Just ask Catherine Englebrecht or the owner of Gibson Guitars. This government stinks to high heaven and needs a thorough cleaning…in fact it might be better to just close the doors of these agencies, the people in charge of them have forgotten they are servants of the people.

      • Peggy says:

Not just close the doors, but put some of them behind bars and throw away the key. These depts. led by this administration are out of control.

Did anything happen to the EPA idiots who flooded that gold mine poisoning the river and wiping out the livelihood of the American Indians who lived and owned farms and ranches affected by their “mistake” in two to three states? I think not!

They are the first ones I put behind bars.

    • Dewster says:

      Simple

As long as there are mandatory minimum sentence laws then we can not pick and choose who it applies to. We need to repeal the law.

We can not waive the law for some and not others.

Am awarding 4 Pinocchios, 10 Harwoods and 18 Politicos to Obumble’s “town hall” last night. Would’ve awarded more, but my supply ran out due to the excessive BS from the white house these days.

A very carefully scripted performance, with ALL questions pre-cleared in advance and closed to the public. Was nothing more than a typical Obumble photo-op an attempt to justify more goofernment overreach.

Obumble’s claim of a “gun show loophole” is as bogus as he is. And another example of Certainly Not News.

    • Tina says:

Kudos for even watching it J.

There’s a lot going on in the news that I haven’t gotten to (apologies to you guys) so why would I make time for his bloviations…I wouldn’t.

      • J. Soden says:

I must admit, I had to have extra anti-nausea medicine on hand in order to cope.
The winner was Taya Kyle – Obumble wasn’t even in the running!
Gonna have to treat any future orchestrated Obumble photo-ops to the trash can even before it starts.

        • Peggy says:

Good for you J. I couldn’t watch it for two reasons. I didn’t have anti-nausea medication and was afraid to get anti-anxiety meds for fear the AFT would come and get my guns.

I did hear he made a major contradiction. He told the rape survivor that his EO would not prevent her from having/getting a gun and then his remarks to Taya Kyle said they would.

Also heard him claim ownership of CNN’s hosted town hall forum when he said “we” had invited the NRA.

Here’s the NRA’s response to the invitation.

Shocker! Another elitist socialist, Bernie Sanders, got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Sanders and Wife Steered Campaign, Nonprofit Money to Family and Friends:

“Public records show pattern of payments to Democratic presidential candidate’s inner circle

Bernie Sanders and his wife have on numerous occasions steered money from organizations under their control to friends and family members, public records show.

The payments benefitted the wife of the Democratic presidential candidate, his stepdaughter, and the son of a former colleague in city government whom Sanders has described as a close friend.

Sanders, a self-described socialist, is now running for the presidency on an anti-corruption platform, decrying public officials’ attempts to use their positions for personal financial gain.”

      Fantastic find Peggy.

This is the kind of information the general public rarely hears about or understands when they do. Republican offenses are often sensationalized in the news…stories like this may get mentioned in passing but then dissapears. it will be interesting to see if this dogs him…although he gets little press time as it is.

      • Peggy says:

The great thing about the internet is with a few clicks I can spread that story to reach several thousands of people. Which of course I did just before posting it here.

      • Peggy says:

Hum, I think I already replied to this, but it’s not showing.

Agree, it won’t appear broadly through the media. That’s why I posted it and other similar type articles on every FaceBook page and blog I subscribe to. Figure at best it will reach thousands at worst hundreds who will also share.

Here’s another one that didn’t receive wide circulation. I just happened to stumble across it while having a discussion about the similarities between the campaign of today with the Reagan campaign and the do nothing democrat controlled congress during the Bush term when he tried to fix the soc. sec. problem.

“Social Security is in kind of a depressing period now because we’ve delayed and delayed and delayed on fixing the system, the program’s finances have gotten worse, the disability program is about to go broke, and most of the folks on the progressive side basically just want to paper over the problem. … This is not a particularly happy time in terms of Social Security reform,” Biggs said.
